The AKS Parents’ and Teachers Association is a group of parents and teachers who organize events to promote friendship within the school community and to raise funds for our school.
We have a lot of fun organizing the events and even more fun attending them.

Welcome from the Headmaster From the Head of Nursery and Preparatory School
I saw a piece of sporting footage the other day: it showed Usain Bolt, in his prime, running against some more routine humans.
Even though his competitors were giving it their all, even those that were evidently quite athletic did not get close to the world’s fastest man, who appeared to amble across the 100m finish line some 30 metres ahead of the nearest competition.
When people are amazing, it can seem effortless. This certainly applies to our PTA, whose cheerful, energetic and creative work in providing joy for the school community through their many outstanding events has led to some of the best AKS moments in the year. In turn, they continue to support ideas and projects large and small, adding bits of magic that we otherwise could not offer. To those remarkable individuals, and for everyone who has supported them, thank you - the difference you make is immeasurable.

The work of the AKS PTA Committee is nothing short of incredible! The Committee members give up their free time to organise so many events for the benefit of the AKS Community.
Subsequently, the Committee hold an annual PTA Dragons’ Den event. The pupils learn how to plan a strategy using their chosen media to persuade the Committee that their idea is a good one which should be funded, all great skills for the future.
Successful pupil bids have included playground games and wet break classroom games. Successful staff bids have included outdoor bikes and trikes for the younger pupils, den building and pond explorer equipment, mini robots to inspire coding skills, a STEM event, and AKS logo sports coats.

We have held events and have more events planned for the year ahead
The work of the PTA team at AKS is reliant on a fantastic group of volunteers who all support one another, with the mission to enhance the school experience for all the pupils. As Chair of the group, I am so proud to work alongside such creative, hardworking and committed parents.
The focus of the PTA is to raise funds in order to purchase items over and above those achievable within the school budget. As such, we like to think that we add another ‘touch of sparkle’ to the school experience.
Fundraising efforts are based on a calendar of events and some new digital fundraising tools like the ‘Easy Fundraising’ app. The success of our events is such that they have become annual occasions, including the Prep School Halloween Party; the hugely successful Winter Ball; and the Christmas, Easter and Summer Fairs. Every year, we challenge ourselves to think out of the box too and this has led to new events being added this year, including our inaugural wine tasting event.
I cannot thank the school enough for their unwavering support of our ideas and to the PTA team, who give up so many hours as part of their busy lives to add that unique sparkle.
