farmers first: 5th generation growers
Our legacy began in 1906, when our great grandfather, Angelo Maggio, immigrated to Lodi from the Italian coast of Genova. Our family has cultivated the land here for over a century–our values and philosophies as clear as the day the first cuttings were planted.
Originally built in 1934, the winery itself was once a wine-making cooperative, East-Side Winery. Angelo, his son Roy, and eventually grandson Rudy, were active participants, supplying grapes to winemakers around the country. When the facility was placed on the market in 2002, Rudy saw an opportunity to expand on their history of grape growing and produce quality wines of their own – transforming it into the production powerhouse that is Oak Ridge Winery.
Rudy’s three daughters, each wine growers in their own right, now oversee the operations at Oak Ridge Winery, with a focus on hospitality, brand building, and expansion.
Their vineyards, along with those of their father’s, account for 2,500 acres throughout the Lodi American Viticultural Area (AVA).
As the longest operating winery in Lodi, we have grown from our modest beginnings into a state-of-the-art winemaking facility; committed to innovation and progressive wine making practices, we continue our family’s heritage that began here over a century ago.

the legacy of LODI
This facility has operated continuously since the end of Prohibition. Originally built in 1934, it was once a wine-making cooperative called East Side Winery. As many as 100 growers at a time would process their fruit here, and like most wineries at the time, it was largely industrial – specializing in bulk wine, fortified wines, and brandy.
The winery has undergone extensive improvements over the last 20 years – an eclectic blend of history and innovation. Oak Ridge now has upwards of 2,000 wine barrels in use – French, American, and Hungarian –and over 8 million gallons of tank space.
A 50,000 gallon redwood barrel serves as the iconic tasting room at Oak Ridge Winery, having been in that location since 1964!

lodi ava
Lodi is nestled in between the Sierra Nevada foothills and the San Francisco Bay, where the uniquely Mediterranean climate helps grapes thrive.
Our oldest vines are over 50 years old, and the majority of vineyards reside within the Mokelumne River sub-apellation of the Lodi AVA.
100,000 acres of winegrapes are planted in Lodi, producing over 20% of California’s wine grapes. Over 12% of all wine sold in the U.S.A. is from Lodi!

estate grown sustainably produced
Oak Ridge Winery is proud to farm our vineyards in accordance with Lodi Rules; a third party certified program created for the Lodi Appellation. It signifies a commitment to rigorous, scientifically sound sustainable winegrowing.
In farming, environmental responsibility is a multifaceted undertaking. Our commitment to sustainability is best illustrated by our
SOIL AND WATER MANAGEMENT
Regular testing helps us measure the mix of nutrients and water in the soil, and drip irrigation ensures we are watering the vines responsibly.
ECOSYSTEM PRESERVATION
We encourage the biodiversity of our land with responsible water usage, natural forms of pest management and native cover crops.
COMMITMENT TO PEOPLE
Acts to preserve our land for future generations could not be fulfilled without the right winery team. LODI RULES dedicates a portion of its guidelines to the nurturing of the industry’s people.
All of our wine labels are produced from vineyards that adhere to these standards, and bear the “Lodi Rules for Sustainable Winegrowing, Certified Green” seal.

We lean into the characteristics that define the Lodi appellation; we embrace them and make them ours. We need to warn you, though – T.N.T. can be highly addicting and dangerously delicious. Moss Roxx
The Zinfandel for Moss Roxx is harvested from our oldest vineyards – land that has been farmed for a century, and is laden with rocks and gravelly soil near the Mokelumne River. The boulders and vines are covered in moss from the years of exposure to the elements. Out of this experience was born the unique moniker, “Moss Roxx,” and a nuanced, concentrated Zinfandel.
