ANNUAL REPORT 2020

A S H A R ED MESSAGE

KEVIN KELLEY FOUNDER AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

HAROLD LOWE BOARD PRESIDENT

The founding principle of Oakland Lacrosse Club (OLC) is unconditional love. While our method to engage youth introduces them to a sport not traditionally exposed to their community, our purpose is to give them an environment where caring people help them develop lifelong skills: leadership, teamwork, worklife balance, healthy living through exercise and nutrition, and using competition to manage success and cope with loss. Now in partnership with NCJLA, she is chair of Lacrosse Community Anti-Racism Coalition, aimed to build a more inclusive, empathetic, youth-centered experience for all 46 clubs, and over 8,000 players in the league.

We partnered with Restorative Justice Oakland (RJOY) to conduct 4 racial healing conversations for players, families, coaches, and staff.

All staff attended multiple workshops from the Becoming an Antiracist Organization capacity building series, hosted by Be The Change Consulting.

LEADIN G WIT H T HE GIRLS To address Title IX, challenges in the Oakland Unified School District, Oakland Lacrosse is partnering with the Oakland Athletic League to create a district wide lacrosse league with Girls Varsity Teams at each high school. Over the next three years this initiative will expose over 4,000 young women to lacrosse and create Girls Varsity programs at six high schools.

In 2021, Oakland

Lacrosse will build Girls Varsity programs at Skyline High School and Oakland High School.
