Wondering what your student(s) have been exploring in Related Arts?

Primary: Students have been having fun exploring music through singing, dancing, and fingerplays. They’re learning important music skills like keeping a steady beat reading simple rhythms, and hearing between high and lo soft, fast and slow, a notes. They are also variety of percussion good technique.

LowerElemenmtary: Students have been learning key music fundamentals through singing and dancing. They are exploring musical elements such as beat, rhythm (including quarter and eighth notes and rests), pitch (high and low), dynamics (loud and soft), tempo (fast and slow), duration (short and long), and form. They are also learning to read notes in the treble clef and to use proper technique when playing both pitched and unpitched percussion instruments.

MiddleSchool: MS Students have been doing works that involve playing pitched and unpitched percussion instruments and acoustic guitars while learning key fundamental music elements and their Italian usage that include; beat, reading rhythms including quarter, eighth, and sixteenth notes and rests, high & low, loud & soft, fast & slow, short & long, form, accents, and score & lead sheet reading. During these works an emphasis is placed on technique, reading notes in the treble and bass clefs, and collaboration.

Students started the year receiving and decoratin will be used during the school year to hold artwork at the end of the year they will take it home along with all of their work from the Gallery. Students receive a portfolio every year and it can be a special place to store their artwork and show growth in their skills over the years.

ts started their year learning about Cave ve art on paper using chalk pastels. Students received a lesson on radial symmetry, be sure to watch for this work to fill the tops of the windows at the art room! Our next project will be Ancient Egyptian cuff bracelets. These are from large cardboard tubes that were donated. We appreciate donations! We also appreciate T.T.T.T volunteers that cut this material into shape for this project.

UpperElementary started the year learning about Cave Art. Students created small model caves as explorative work to problem solve and gain some practice before creating a large group cave sculpture with their level. We will soon transform a huge collection of cardboard, tubes and various materials into an interactive cave, large enough for students to walk through and you can too at the Arts Showcase!

At the beginning of the school year, students in PE have been focused on building a strong foundation for success by reviewing classroom guidelines and expectations, emphasizing respect, responsibility, and safety.


Lowergrades have been creating their sit spots to help establish routines and community, while Upper grades have been building their teams for the semester to encourage leadership and collaboration.
A highlight of the early weeks has been our time at the low ropes course, where students practiced the three C’s: communication, collaboration, and cooperation. These activities challenged students to work together, think creatively, and support one another.
In addition, students enjoyed exploring our sports complex as they were introduced to tennis and pickleball. They learned the basic rules, scoring system, and fundamental skills of this fastgrowing sport.

ThUpperElementary students have been working on creating the invisible visible! What exists in the empty distance between your fingers and palm? A ball!
Students are using the SPACE in their hand to bring a ball to life--making the invisible visible. Using Space Objects is a basic skill for actors and the Upper Elementary classes are doing an excellent job. Next time you ' re out at the park or in the backyard, maybe you could play a game of catch using nothing but the space around you!
