DIVISION BUNDLE OF SUNSHINE GRAMS

Wow! I think taking part in this fundraiser was very cool. I taught Jennifer how to be aesthetic and that was hard. I’m proud of myself for making a flyer that isn’t a meme, but not going to lie, it wasn’t as fun to make. I made some of the name tags and utilizing my calligraphy skills made me feel useful. I spent most of my weekend helping make cake pops. No one said that they got food poisoning, so that’s good. Also, a great number of people from other divisions supported, so that made me very happy. I got to see people from our division when they came to pick up their orders, so that was pretty exciting too. I had to ship out a few orders and I am not sure if the purchasers ever got them, but hopefully they did. Thinking back, I probably should’ve included a note to contact us if they ever got it. Well, that’s a good tip for the next fundraiser, if I have to mail again. On another note, fundraising is hard, but I want to do another fundraiser now. Yay!

In the middle of September the division hosted a DCM where students were able to bond. It was a joint DCM with D04W and D04N, and it was pretty cool to see other people from other divisions even in quarantine. We were awarded with 3rd shining club of the month which was very much appreciated. Our Kiwanis advisor, Mr. Lamont, received Kiwanis advisor of the month and we were reminded of how lucky we are to be under Kiwanis Club of Cypress. One of our general members, Megan Tran, was also awarded with division member of the month and that was very exciting as well. In the actual DCM we played various games. For example, we played Mafia online which was interesting because you were able to add extra roles in comparison to a normal basic Mafia game. Even if we weren’t able to finish the game due to time constraints, it was still fun to play. We also played an animal game where people had to act out an animal of the previous person’s choice. It made me realize that one’s leadership isn’t undermined by embarrassing actions especially when they’re for the sake of the whole group. The embarrassing actions of the animals were the ones that helped the group bond. As a leader, it’s always important to keep the best interest of the group at heart at all times. Overall, DCM was pretty fun and I look forward to Regional Training Conference/October DCM next month!

I can’t believe the first time I watched Zootopia was through my laptop screen during a Key Club Social. I guess I will just never get used to the Online Events. For this social, we watched the movie Zootopia as we made birthday cards. I really liked how laidback this social was because I got to watch the movie while I made my cards on my laptop. To be honest, we didn’t really communicate with each other that much because we were immersed in the interesting story of Zootopia. The movie is a cinematic masterpiece that depicts the lives of Judy the Bunny and Nick Wilde as they work together to solve the mystery of animals from Zootopia mysteriously turning savage. If I could rank this movie from a scale of 1-10 it would be 1000. In all seriousness, I really hope we have more socials similar to this one because it was really chill and gave me a great break from having to do homework.

This month, Oxford Academy Key Club held a movie night with Cypress Key Club. We watched Zootopia together, and incorporated a service project into the event as well! I hadn’t watched Zootopia for a while now, so it was really fun to watch it again. As the movie was playing on the Google Meets screen share, volunteers made birthday cards for pediatric patients at the same time. This way, we were able to all have a fun time while making a positive impact on our community. It was really heartwarming to make the cards in support of PTP. A bunch of volunteers participated in this event, and it’s great to see how sweet and inspiring the cards were. Not to mention, so many of the cards looked really aesthetically pleasing too! All in all, the Cypress x Oxford Zootopia Movie Night/Service Project was a really great experience because the entertaining movie helped me relax more and de-stress from all my schoolwork/ tests (which was very much needed), while also making a difference in the community. I hope there are more events like this in the future so we can have more time to relax and be stress-free!
