ON THE MOVE Roger Brown has become a partner of Meares Williams Lawyers in Christchurch. Roger is a partner in the civil and commercial litigation team and practises in all Roger Brown aspects of civil and commercial litigation. He also has experience in employment law. Luke Hayward has been appointed an associate. Luke graduated from Canterbury University in 2009 and Luke Hayward works in a wide variety of areas within the firm including property, estates and commercial transactions. Sarah Cates left Cullen Law at the end of October and Sheryl Waring has returned to the firm, also at the end of October. Sarah has gone on sabbatical for a year and Sheryl has returned from maternity leave.

Dedication, professionalism and service Fourth year Otago University BA(Hons)/LLB student Kayla Stewart has won the 2013 Professor Richard Sutton Memorial Award. This award was established in 2011 in memory of Professor Sutton with financial support from family, friends and former students.

The amount per capita spent by the United Kingdom on legal aid. The figure for New Zealand is £15.83 ($NZ30.83).
