NYSSSA, founded in 1970, is a summer arts residential intensive program offering highly competitive training programs that are exciting, challenging, and fun! By attending NYSSSA, you have the opportunity to work with acclaimed artists, broadening your skill set and developing technique, allowing you to grow as an artist. The four-week pre-professional summer curriculum includes Modern Dance Technique, Music for Dance, Composition, Repertory and performance, guest artist mentorship, and trips to concerts. The program culminates in an end-of-summer performance. NYSSSA is open to all New York State Students, ages 13-18, who qualify by audition. Applications are accepted beginning december 1 up until a week before a live audition.
