The Honorable Thurgood S. Marshall Award For Outstanding Criminal Practitioner Presented to

JOHN F. SPERANZA, ESQ. John F. Speranza Law

John F. Speranza , received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Colgate University, a Masters Degree in Public Administration from State University of New York at Albany and his Juris Doctor Degree from Union University, Albany Law School in 1971; following his admission to New York State Bar in February 1972 Mr. Speranza served as a Monroe County Assistant District Attorney for two years, thereafter entering private practice wherein he has been steadily engaged for the past forty-eight (48] years. Mr. Speranza is admitted to practice in New York State; the United States District Court for the Western District of New York and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He is a lifelong member of the New York State and Monroe County Bar Associations and has served on various professional committees and in various capacities inclusive of the following: past representative of the Seventh Judicial District to the Criminal Justice Section of the New York State Bar Association; past member of the Monroe County Bar Association Board of Governors of the Academy of Law continuing education trial program; past Master Attorney in the Inns of Court; past member of the Monroe County Bar Association Professional Performance Committee

and Board of Trustees; past member of the Capital Defense Screening Panel for the Appellate Division Fourth Department and was qualified as a death penalty defense attorney. Mr. Speranza was the recipient in 1993 of the Robert C. Napier Award for outstanding achievement in the advocacy of the rights of the accused and on June 13, 2001 he was the recipient of the prestigious Charles F. Crimi Award as presented by the Monroe County Bar Association. Mr. Speranza has served as a member of the Committee on Character and Fitness for the Seventh Judicial District since 1994 and on May 1, 2006 was appointed Chairperson of said Committee. Mr. Speranza is recognized by Martindale-Hubbell as AV Preeminent having achieved the highest possible rating in both Legal Ability and Ethical Standards for the past thirty years. He has been listed in the Best Lawyers in America publication since 1987 in the areas of non white collar and white collar criminal defense as well as in the New York Super Lawyers publication under the category of White Collar Criminal Defense and in 2013 was designated as White Collar Criminal Defense lawyer of the year.
