My last project at Urban Signature Architects, This was a proposal to an extension at Iphutheng Primary School in Alexandra. The client envisioned a safe after school space for children.
We wanted to create a fluid space - thus specific program was not imposed in the concept but rather made spatial accommodations for use such as events, markets, small seminars, children’s workshops etc. De pending on the need of the client for that time.
The aim was to create a playful, cost effective, flexible space for children to enjoy in late afternoons but also double-up as a community center outside of school hours.

LUNAWOOD URBAN CHALLENGE

In final year undergrad, we had an elective based on Lunawood’s Urban Challenge. However in our elective, we were required to explore detailing possibilities using Lunawood products.
This project was an Art gallery/ psychology center in Rosebank and the drawings shown are ‘construction’ drawings of the two buildings I did for this design elec tive.

One of my first projects at Urban Signature Architects, This exposed me to fun & playful ways of creating & pre senting work to clients. I worked with one of the compa ny’s existing projects which was a Cat hotel as well as an Art gallery in Parktown.
The instruction was to create montages of the projectHere I made a speculative exterior for the building as well as two playful collages of both the cat hotel & gallery interiors.

A BRIDGE, A TRAIN STATION & A PARK...
This was my final undergrad Design project done in third year. This train station was a part of a greater scheme for an Urban design project located in Westbury. This transit note was to connect the two ends of Westbury split by a derelict railway track. The project aimed to revive this railway track.
My concept was not just to treat this as a rejuvenatory transit node but create a pause & social space - I wanted to make waiting for a train an experience for commuters.
