Lieutenant Governors Greeting
LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR GREETING Hello Division 8-A Thank you all for your service thus far. It is a pleasure to be working with all of you. With that being said I hope to see service at an all time high despite the nearing of the end of the service year. There will be a decrease in city events now that winter is slowly approaching, but the divisional cabinet will be working hard to organize a variety of fun events throughout the next few months. Make sure to send any ideas to myself or any of the members of the cabinet. We have only a few more months, that will fly by before you know it, and as long as we all stayed committed and motivated we can finish off this year with a bang! Hope to see all of you at the Desmond Hotel for Leadership Training Conference in a few months! Hey Everyone,
My name is Eldin Klapija and I am your 2014-2015 Division 8-A Executive Assistant. I am 15 years old and am a sophmore at Garden School, which is also where I serve as Vice-President of Garden School Key Club. I became really interested in Key Club, so just after one great year of being a member of Key Club, I became VicePresident. I am a really easy person to talk to, so feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you might have! My job is to communicate with all of the clubs in our division, and to make sure that everything is running smoothly. Let’s make this year really stand out and do great things! I am only a sophmore, but Key Club so far has been making my High School experience amazing. After being a member of the club for several months, I knew I wanted to help out with the club as much as I can, and now look where I am! I will always be there to talk to anyone who has any questions, so contact me whenever! Hey key clubbers! My name is Orlando Bispo and I am From William Cullen Bryant high school. This year I have the opportunity to serve as Division 8-a's web master. Ive been in key club for a little over year now and have fallen in love with the community and the people that have helped to make it and make it better place. Key club has helped show me the joys of giving to the community, by planting daffodils in IS10 park to make it more inviting, or by recycling at the peers, we can make the difference for a better tomorrow.

A 3 day experience full of workshops, friends, and fun, LTC is great for incoming officers to be trained and graduating seniors to say goodbye. THOUGHTS ON KEY CLUB FOREST HILLS “When asked what key club means to me, I would say that it means a lot. At first I didn't want to join the club because of the fee and I figured, I could do community service somewhere else. But not only is it about helping the community and getting involved, its also about getting to know people and learning skills as well. By being in key club and especially as an officer, I was really glad to be able to connect with different volunteer groups and finding events that are not only helpful to the community but also fun for the members as well. Key Club has several different meanings. For me, I believe Key Club is a way to meet great friends, and help out the community at the same time. Nothing feels better than helping people out that need it. The feeling of giving to people who need it is very great! It is important for me to help people out, because I know when I am in need I want the same done for me. It is not only meeting very friendly governors there. We do help to distribute pantries to homeless people. We do plant trees for "Green Street". We do have walks to raise attentions of cancer. REACHING OUT FOR HELP RICHMOND HILL I think its safe to say that running a Key Club isn’t an easy job, disappointments can come with the job. For this week’s newsletter I could’ve easily exaggerated what’s been going on or even lied and came up with a outrageous story to try to fool everyone into thinking that we’re the awesomest club that ever existed but instead, we decided as a group to just be honest and ask our fellow divisions for a few suggestions. First off, given that its the beginning of the school year and given that we don’t even have a permanent adviser our members don’t think we’re “together.” So with humbleness and curiosity we wanted to just ask you guys, what are some ways to have the members excited enough to stay in Key Club?, and also how can we get even more members to join our club. We’d tremendously grateful for any suggestions given. Besides we want to show our school what exactly Key Club is all about and be able to appropriately represent Key Club, so why don’t to be a pal, and lend a helping hand?
SERVICE SPOTLIGHT RICHMOND HILL BREAST CANCER WALK
As you all should already be completely aware of, it’s Breast Cancer Awareness month! If you didn’t know that already then that’s okay too, we’ll just keep that a secret. But, to celebrate and show our full undying support toward breast cancer, our Key Club has decided to do a couple of really awesome things. Earlier into the month we handed out donation slips, basically to be able to keep a record of who donates money and the amount they donated, to our members as we sent them off on the great journey scouring the halls and classrooms for anybody willing to donate. To our surprise we’ve been able to raise a greater amount of money than we expected and we’re extremely grateful for every penny given. Also, we’ve handed our member bracelets to hand out to sell, to anyone looking for a super awesome breast cancer bracelet or simply willing to donate to the cause in any way, shape, or form. This is also a great success. About four times out of the week our members come rushing toward us officers, desperate for more bracelets to sell, they seem to really enjoy it. We’re always enthusiastic to get out there and do what we can to support a cause so imperative to us. I wonder what the rest of the year holds in store for us crazies here in Richmond Hill High School Key Club!
SERVICE SPOTLIGHT: ACADEMY OF A. S TRICK-OR-TREAT The Academy of American Studies Key Club has commenced once again. This month Key Club members have taken upon themselves the UNICEF trick or treat event. Students raise money for this great foundation by carrying around a small orange donation box. Through this, Key Club hopes to aid children's needs, with things such as education, safe water, and sanitation in more than 150 developing countries. The Academy of American Studies Key Club is really hoping to increase this years donations. Key Club members plan on taking up new events next month.
