As much as it pains me to say, this academic is almost up and over. My home club has just had their last meeting of the year, and now it is time to look forward to the opportunities the lay ahead of us! I know this year is wrapping up I am definitely looking forward to summer vacation just as much as all of you are, but it is important to remember to keep doing service over the summer! The community never stops running, and while some of your events or opportunities may no longer be available, I encourage all of you to think outside of the box and find innovative ways to keep giving back to your communities. For example, I like to volunteer at a local soup kitchen every weekend, where I distribute food and help out in those services. Trying new forms of service over the summer will help you all grow as Key Club members! Volunteering in service events is what makes this club so great, and why we do what we do! Let's make impacts this service year that we can all be proud of!
Yours in service,
Hi NYDKC!
My name is Ava Stamatakis, and I have the honor of serving as your Key Club International Trustee! The other districts I serve are the Alabama District and the Caribbean-Atlantic District. Together, our “sister” districts make up the NewCariBama Sistrict!
My job as International Trustee is to spread awareness of Key Club’s global presence, to connect members to resources, and to support district leadership in whatever ways I can In this regard, you will see me holding monthly office hours, hosting quarterly sistrict events, sending monthly newsletters, posting on Instagram frequently (follow @newaribama), and much more. The majority of my job, however, is dedicated to committee work at the international level, which I will update you on throughout the year.
Our adventure together starts now. In fact, I have a few resources for you so that we can stay in touch:
Follow @newcaribama on Instagram
Attend my monthly office hours (next one is May 23rd 8pm-9pm EST on Instagram Live)
Access our Linktree (www linktree com/newcaribama) for all relevant links!
NYDKC, I am here to support, guide, and serve you. I cannot wait for all the future has in store for you, for us, and for our sistrict. I know this is going to be an incredible year, so let’s continue to serve our homes, schools, and communities.
Please do not hesitate to reach out. I would love to hear from you!
Yours in Friendship and Service, Ava Stamatakis

Our District Project for the 2023-2024 service year is St. Jude Children's Hospital! Their mission is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family's ability to pay. Matter of fact, no family is footed a bill for their treatment, travel, housing or food. Make sure to keep this wonderful charity in mind when considering where money from your club's fundraisers should go!
Room to Read is creating a world free from illiteracy and gender inequality. They are achieving this goal by helping children in historically low-income communities develop literacy skills and a habit of reading, and by supporting girls as they build skills to succeed in school and negotiate key life decisions. They collaborate with governments and other partner organizations to deliver positive outcomes for children at scale.
The Lyme Disease Project was set up in 2001 to help pay for medical treatment for children with Lyme's disease. Most insurance companies unfortunately do not pay for its treatment, which is very expensive. Their support is funded through donations from Kiwanis Clubs and individuals and channeled into the Pediatric Lyme Disease Fund. They have 27 active grants for children with the disease.
At our Spring Board Meeting, the NYDKC District Board has decided that our service hour goal for the service year will be 225,000 hours! Make sure you fill out the MRFs to keep adding onto our hours!

The Key Club of Patchogue-Medford partnered with a local soup kitchen to provide over 280 breakfasts and lunches to those in need around the community! Waking up bright and early in the morning to come in at 6:30 A.M on a Saturday, the commitment members showed in helping those around them was simply incredible Some members helped out in bagging the lunches, while others were outside giving them out. Personally handing out the lunches was an amazing experience! Seeing the gratitude people showed for the work we were doing was enough to justify the early wake up. Not only that, we were able to see the effect we were making on our community first hand! It was also a bonding moment of sorts, as there were different volunteers from different clubs in Patchogue-Medford. But at the end of the day we all worked together and made new friends in pursuit of our common goal, making the world a better place.
