Hello, Division 1 Stingrays !
I hope you all have been doing well. As we approach the holiday season with Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Hanukkah , there are so many opportunities approaching to find ways to continue serving our communities. As for me, I have been busy with planning the New York District's 75th annual Leadership Training Conference being held in Albany from March 31st to April 2nd, 2023, which is an amazing weekend to meet Key Clubbers from across the district. I look forward to continuing to work with all of you and your clubs and hope you enjoy this month's edition of the Stingray Section.

The East Hampton High School Key Club recently volunteered in the 41st annual Montauk Chowder Festival, a club staple that members look forward to participating in each year. The festival was a day full of fun and laughter as volunteers served the community with warm chowder and delicious apple cider. The weather was great and spirits were high throughout the weekend, it was so popular the chowder supply ran out!
A huge congratulations to Lynbrook High School Key Club for yet another successful DoubleGood Popcorn Fundraiser, the first one of the service year. Within four short days, Lynbrook Key Clubbers spread the word and sold a total of 37,703 dollars worth of popcorn. With 119 sellers at work, 660 supporters purchased popcorn from all walks of life, The proceeds made will be donate to the Dr. Barbino Scholarship Fund, LI Coalition for the Homeless, Project9Line, SCOPE, SCO Family of Service, RBEF, The Global Giving Tree, The INN, Soles4Souls, and the upcoming Leadership Training Conference.

Save the Date! Division 1 will be holding a divisional conference on Wednesday, November 20th at Southampton High School. This event is open to all Key Clubbers across Division 1! More information, including the start time and registration will be sent out shortly.
The has released the Awards Booklet, the official guide to nominate individual key clubbers and clubs to receive distinctive awards at the Leadership Training Conference in March, 2023.

Schoo y Club Internation orm over Zoom and was created by Khan Academy founder, Sal Khan. Schoolhouse allows members to become volunteer tutors with students across the country. This is an amazing opportunity to gain tutoring experience and receive tutoring services from fellow peers.

Key Club International created the Global Leadership Certificate Program available to all Key Club members. These set of courses contains 20 (soon 39) courses on many topics such as building meaningful relationships, strategic v. tactical leadership, and running effective meetings, among others.
Pencils of Promise works towards giving kids around the world access to a quality education. This is achieved by building schools and launching programs to reach children worldwide. Thus far, they have built 400 schools that they continue to monitor and evaluate regularly to ensure that every child receives an equal opportunity to quality education, regardless of their geography.

Soles for Souls works to collect unwanted shoes and clothes so they don’t go to waste. The clothes and shoes are distributed to underresourced people around the world. In addition to helping people, distributing these unwanted products is also helping the environment by keeping them out of landfills.
I hope everyone is doing well! This past month has been busy for me personally as I have finally started applying to college!! In terms of Key Club, earlier this onth, the I-Board had out October Board Meeting inperson in Anaheim, California. We were able to tour the Anaheim Hilton, which is where ICON will be held this year. We also had the once in a lifetime opportunity to attend the 13th Annual Thirst Gala and 2nd Annual Legacy Ball. I don't know about you, but October was a busy month for me. From October Board in Anaheim to colleege applications for school, I was on a roller coaster. PLus, my district's Fall Rally is coming up! If your district has Fall Rallies, I hope you have/had fun! To relax, I have absolutely LOVED listening to Taylor Swift's new album, Midnights. I hope you all are finding eserve it!
The Kiwanis Pediatric Lyme Disease Foundation was founded to support children and their families who are diagnosed with Lyme disease. The organization aids families financially with the cost of life-saving Lyme disease treatments.

As you begin to plan your next service project, think Kamp Kiwanis! Kamp Kiwanis is a summer camp in Upstate New York that is open to special education children from ages 8-17. This program provides valuable and educational opportunities to children typically excluded from the traditional summer camp experience.
