Lieutenant Governor's Greeting

Hello Division 8A!

I hope that everyone has been enjoying their summer! I spent most of July and August working so I have definitely been keeping busy, but it has also been great to check in with the progress of our district whenever I have a chance.

The summer was very exciting for not just our district, but all of Key Club International, because it was our International Convention, or ICON. Key Clubbers in attendance had the opportunity to see inspiring workshops and speaker sessions, and go home with new service projects and ideas that will help them become better leaders.

We also elected our new International Trustees, which marks a new beginning for the New York District. I am so excited to see what comes next, but for now I hope you all enjoy reading the August Edition of the Bunny Bulletin!

Yours In Service,

Hello, NYDKC!

This is it. The end of my term is only days away. It’s been a whole year since I first became your International Trustee, and I truly cannot believe all that we have accomplished together. Throughout the last year, I have seen you all accomplish fantastic triumphs and overcome tremendous obstacles. I am at a loss of words to describe how incredibly proud I am of you all.

When I first became an International Trustee last July, I waited eagerly to be assigned to serve three districts. In early August, the wait was over. I remember gathering together with my fellow International Trustees in anticipation. The one question everyone was asking was, “which districts do you want to be assigned?” And there was always a universal answer: New York.

That’s because, New York, you have a reputation that is recognized across Key Club International. One of relentless compassion, bubbly energy, and fierce determination. Your engagement is inspirational, and your passion speaks volumes. I have proudly watched you all pour your hearts and souls into our organization, Key Club International. Because of your dedication, passion, and perseverance, Key Club has flourished this past year.

It has been my honor and privilege to serve you, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity. I know you all will continue to shine in the service and leadership realm well beyond my term. Please do not hesitate to stay in touch! This is a bittersweet moment, but still “I FEEL GOOD. OH I FEEL SO GOOD OH!”

Yours Forever in Friendship and Service, Ava Stamatakis

Room to Read works to ensure that primary school students can become independent readers and can develop literacy skills in low income areas. Their main goal is to have structured libraries with books in the local language, as well as teachers and librarians who have been trained in the best practices of reading and writing instruction to ensure that children grow up learning how to read and write to make sure they can succeed later in life. Room to Read also supports girls in completing secondary school.

District Project

The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of our founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family's ability to pay.

UNICEF

UNICEF is one of Key Club’s International Partners!

UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to save children’s lives, to defend their rights, and to help them fulfil their potential, from early childhood through adolescence. And we never give up.

UNICEF works with partners around the world to promote policies and expand access to services that protect all children.

Division 5 Farmingdale High School

Farmingdale’s Key Club helped Farmingdale’s Kiwanis at their fair on August 26 and 27. We had several volunteers come and help set up the Kiwanis tent, sell raffle tickets, and pack up supplies used during the fair. We were able to help Kiwanis fundraise by selling these raffle tickets.

We loved the opportunity to help our community, especially watching as everyone comes together, including vendors, security, and the junior firefighters. We especially love helping our Kiwanis organization as they provide a scholarship for us every year, which is funded by sponsors and fundraising such as this. We are so fortunate to have had various sponsors, entertainment, and supporters for this remarkable fair.

We were also able to meet members from neighboring Kiwanis organizations, gaining advice and insight from them. This was such a rewarding experience and we can’t wait for more events and service during the rest of the year!

Yours
