NEW BOATS Fairline Targa 48 GT

Beneteau Oceanis 62

The Beneteau Oceanis 62 is the French builder’s newest and the latest addition to their successful Oceanis line. She is set to sail onto the marketplace sometime this year and follows the current market trend towards bigger and bigger luxury yachts as the largest of her line. The Oceanis 62 was designed by Berret-Racoupeau Yacht Design and Andreani Design to create a new yacht with a focus on generous interior lighting and modern chic feel. Long panoramic windows along the hull and a spacious cockpit living space, complete with a spacious galley, all work to welcome the sun. An enclosed master cabin offers privacy for the skipper, and ample seating is positioned throughout the cabin. Different layouts offer varying numbers of enclosed heads and berths. A large tender garage is built into the transom aft and the door swings open into a swim platform. The cockpit features dual helms and a generously sized (and cushioned) lounge space to entertain. The hull has hard chines and carries twin rudders; the pushbutton powered winches look like they will make cruising a breeze. In addition to 1,959 square feet of sail area (main and jib), she is built to accommodate a max engine power of 160 horsepower.

The Targa 48 GT sports cruiser is Fairline Yacht’s first yacht to roll off the production line and is causing quite a buzz. The design emphasizes an open-to-the-skies experience that seeks to blur the line between outside and inside living. For example, the luxurious cockpit is enclosed with paneled glazing to let in a generous amount of light, but the electric hardtop is the real sun-bringer, as the elegant hardtop opens at a whim, revealing the sun, sky and stars to the cabin. Ample lounging space includes twin seats at the helm and a J-shaped seating area with a table that can convert to a sunbed (optional). The Targa 48 GT’s modern lines blend with the teak cockpit in a pleasing way. Luxury items abound, including a full-height fridge/freezer and optional bar in the cockpit. A submersible platform is offered as an option for warm-water fun. The recommended engine setup is a pair of Volvo Penta IPS600 D6-435 Diesels. Structurally, the Targa 48 GT’s deck incorporates polyurethane foam cores for high-strength and excellent thermal insulation, and the hull’s transverse and longitudinal strengthening stringers should yield a stiff, strong and capable yacht. The Fairline Targa 48 GT is a beautiful-looking sports cruiser that should make her owners—and their guests—feel at home with her sunny flair and generous accommodations. Infiniti 53 and 46 McConaghy Boats and Infiniti Performance Yachts have teamed up to build its Dynamic Stability System (DSS)-equipped Infiniti 46 and Infiniti 53 semi-custom racing yachts. Both yachts are fitted with patented DSS lateral foils that, when deployed to leeward, provide vertical lift that will increase the boat’s righting movement and power. generating more flow over this horizontal foil and—in turn—creating greater lift and stability. This design is meant to reduce heel and pitching for a smoother and more efficient ride. In low winds, the DSS foil is simply retracted into the hull to reduce drag. The standard Infiniti 53 is fitted with a canting heel and single daggerboard, which look like they will make her a versatile inshore and
