What our pupils say?
“As soon as I joined in Year 7, I felt a warm welcome to Broomwood. Over the past two years I have learnt more about myself as a person and how much potential I have in my academic subjects. There have been lots of opportunities, responsibilities, and chances to be more independent in my time at Broomwood and I have made lots of new friends. Broomwood was a perfect step between primary school and secondary school for me. I now feel ready for secondary school, and I have matured in who I am and who I want to be.”
Minnie, Year 8
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Broomwood Boys, and I am so pleased that I stayed to Year 8. Having the time and freedom to mature has allowed me to develop academically and personally. I have felt well supported, enabling me to achieve excellent academic results and to be offered academic scholarships to several schools.”
Tudor, Year 8
“I really like our roles of responsibility. Being a House Captain has taught me how to become a great team leader, like being inclusive, listening to others’ ideas but also helping the younger years and girls who are new to the school.”
Purdy, Year 8
“In Year 6 some of my friends left to go to senior school. I could never have imagined leaving my school at that point and starting a school with 18-year-olds. I have changed a lot since then and feel much more confident, mature and ready to become a more independent person at my new school.”
Verity, Year 8
Knowing who you are!
This is a pivotal stage where pupils grow in confidence, character and curiosity. At Broomwood, we provide the support and challenge they need to flourish — academically and personally.
What our parents say?
“Staying for Years 7 and 8 allowed my child to flourish and grow in confidence. He enjoyed a rich extracurricular life and transitioned seamlessly into senior school, helped by the leadership, independence and responsibility he developed at prep school.”
Clare
“Broomwood made the move into Year 7 seamless – my daughter was happy within days. The extra two years helped her build resilience, independence and a love of learning, while developing confidence, leadership and friendships that will last a lifetime.”
Nicola
“Staying in an environment which my son knew, with small classes and familiar staff helped nurture him through his early teenage years and that reassured us as parents knowing that he wasn’t having to navigate all the distractions and changes that come with moving to Senior School at the same time as the challenges that teenagers face.”
George
“Years 7 and 8 at Broomwood gave my daughter the confidence, maturity and resilience to thrive academically and emotionally. She moved on to senior school as a more independent, self-assured young person, well prepared for the next stage.”

Why we believe in this journey
• Pupils access meaningful leadership roles, helping them develop confidence, responsibility and positive influence.
• Two additional years in a prep environment allow pupils to mature in a setting where they are known, supported and valued as individuals.
• Smaller class sizes enable personalised guidance during the important transition from childhood to early adolescence.
• A nurturing environment provides pupils with the safety and space to explore identity, confidence and independence during puberty.
• Older pupils mentor younger children, developing empathy, leadership and emotional intelligence while modelling positive behaviour.
• Strong relationships with staff, alongside service and community outreach, help pupils grow in character, perspective and social responsibility.
