On April 9th, the Merritt campus hosted its Career Fair at the NVIT Gymnasium, featuring 60 exhibitors, with a strong representation of Indigenous-led organizations and services. Organized in partnership with the Citxw Nlaka'pamux Assembly, the fair brought together a diverse range of employers, providing students and community members with insight into career options closely aligned with Indigenous values and community development. Both Career Fairs were a great success, reinforcing NVIT’s commitment to supporting Indigenous learners by connecting education with meaningful career opportunities and fostering strong community partnerships
Elder’s Goody Day: A Heartwarming End to the Semester

On April 9th, NVIT students and staff gathered for the last Elder’s Goody Day of the semester, a cherished tradition that brings the NVIT community together to celebrate and connect with Elders. The event was filled with fun games and playful gimmicks, all thoughtfully prepared by the Elders for the NVIT family. Laughter and friendly competition filled the air as everyone enjoyed the lighthearted activities.
The gathering also featured a delicious meal, with warm chili and cookies shared among attendees, offering a sense of comfort and community. The day became even more special as it marked the birthday celebration of Willard Wallace, a central figure at NVIT who leads the drumming at major events and ceremonies. His presence added a meaningful and ceremonial touch to the celebration


Elder’s Goody Day not only provided an opportunity to celebrate Indigenous traditions but also strengthened the sense of belonging and support within the NVIT community It was a perfect way to close out the semester and reflect on the connections made through shared experiences.
