Unit 08 : URBAN REDEVELOPMENT PROPOSAL / Introducing 8 different activities working coherantly. A prototype of a mini city within Pasir Panjang Power Station. The site is flanked by west coast highway, Labrador Nature Reserve, Pasir Panjang Port and back into the Singapore Streets. Pasir Panjang Port will be relocating to Tuas by 2040 as part of the government to redevelop the Greater Southern Waterfront. Polyphony : The style of simultaneously combining a number of parts each forming an individual melody and harmonizing with each other.

CULSANS

Module Iterations / Sustainable Facade / Concrete Modules Initial Design was to channel rainwater efficiently and elegantly, as rain is a common concern in a country with tropical climate. To achieve this, we first approached concrete modules to explore different ways to design. We settled with an inspired leaf’s drip tip. The concrete drip tip channeled rainwater and the curvature accentuated the materiality of concrete to refine the elegance of the module. We wanted to address other major weather of tropical climate - The Sun. Using the same module we explore how can we create shades efficiently. The additional layer was displaced for maximum shading.

Moodboard The intention of the design was to create an atmosphere that capture the movement of the shadows and using the different human senses such as touch.

IQRAA

Space Planning : Transitioning spaces for the user places an important language in this design. The intention was to allow the user to move from one space to another with different emotional experience. The space objective was to allow users to fully immerse themselve as they learn about the Islamic Art.
