ABOUT NUNAWADING BASKETBALL

The easiest way for me to find the location in my maps app, is to type in Nunawading Basketball. Nunawading Basketball Centre is located at the front of Burwood East Reserve and is the host for a variety of basketball programs and competitions.

The stadium opening times are from 9am-10:30pm Sunday to Friday, and 8am-6pm Saturday. Office hours are 9am-5pm Monday-Friday.

More information is available on the Nunawading Basketball about us page.

Location: 298-330 Burwood Hwy, Burwood East, 3151.

planning my journey

Via car: maps link

Tram Stop: TRAM 75, STOP NO. 72

Bus Stop: BUS 732, STOP Newhaven Rd/Burwood Hwy (towards Box Hill Station). Mahoneys Rd/Burwood Hwy (towards Upper Ferntree Gully).

I can find updated Tram information on the Public Transport Victoria (PTV) website or app. It can also be found on Google Maps.

Free 4-hour parking is available out the front of the stadium on Mondays, with extra parking at the back if needed.

GETTING HERE by car

I can search Nunawading Basketball on my phone maps, and it will take me to the carpark that is in front of the stadium.

If coming by car I will enter from Burwood Hwy via one of the three entrance points (listed 1, 2, 3 in the image).

Arrows highlight the way of entrance from the Blackburn Rd direction on Burwood Hwy, which involves turning right straight into stadium entrance

2. From Springvale Rd direction I would turn left into one of the three stadium entrances (entrance 1 or 2 is preferable for parking in front of the stadium).

Ramp access is available to the right of the stadium (closest to entrance 1 and 2).

There are Men’s and Women’s toilets at the end of Court 1 (pictured). Inbetween Courts 3 & 4 there is a Men’s and Women’s toilet, changerooms and a disabled toilet. Opposite the Court 1 toilets there is a drink bottle re-fill station.

The stadiums office is in front of the entrance doors, which I can knock on the door of if I need help.

Any questions about the stadium or Abilities programs can be emailed to holly@nunawadingbasketball.com.au.

ALL ABILITIES program details

The All Abilities program is on Mondays during the school term from 10:00-11:00am (with breaks in between).

During this time our Monday Morning Ladies competition is on Courts 1-3, and Walking Basketball is on Court 4.

When I enter the stadium, I will turn right. Once I reach the courts I will turn left and go all the way to the end where I will find Court 5 (pictured). To register to play, I will email Amber at office@reachandbelong.com, or call 0490 604 122.

COACH Amber (she/her)

Role: Reach and Belong A Team Allrounder and Nunawading Basketball All Abilities coach. Qualified Primary School teacher.

Hobbies: Amber loves being outdoors, going for walks in nature, basketball, training in the gym, practising yoga– pretty much anything active! Having lived and worked in 4 different continents, she is also an avid traveller.

What is something that you want your participants to know before they come? Amber would encourage them to “have a go, have a laugh, and enjoy meeting others in the same boat.”

SENSORY INFORMATION

During my visit to Nunawading Basketball, I might have different sensory experiences. Court 5 is the quietest, most secluded court in the stadium.

These could include:

Bright lights and scoreboards.

Moving images on the LED Screen on Court 1.

Potential crowding during peak busy times (Friday nights and Saturdays).

Loud noises like cheering, sirens, whistles, balls bouncing, squeaky shoes and shock clocks.

Wear sunglasses or a hat.

Sit facing away from the screens.

Sit at the edge of the room or near a door.

Wear noise cancelling headphones or earplugs.

what to bring

I will bring some water, a (nut-free) snack, wear comfortable activewear clothing (eg. shorts and tshirt) and appropriate runners. All the sporting equipment will be provided on the day.

Sometimes it is busy and loud in the stadium, so I will bring things that will help me to enjoy the session.

food and drink

I am welcome to bring my own food and drink.

Vending machines:

Nunawading Basketball have vending machines located at the end of Court 1 that have soft drinks, water and Gatorade, as well as chips, chocolates and confectionary. I can pay via cash or card, however card is preferred.

Canteen:

The canteen menu includes hot dogs, fried food, coffees and anything that can also be found in the vending machines.

The Canteen is open on:

Monday Nights from 4:30pm. Friday Nights from 4:30pm. Saturdays 9:00am-5:00pm.

I will contact Coach Amber via phone or email to get more information on getting involved in the Nunawading Basketball/Reach and Belong session; Phone: 0490 604 122

Email: office@reachandbelong.com

I can call on a Monday to Friday between the hours of 9-5. I should expect a reply to my email within two business days.

ARRIVING

When I move through the front entrance, I will turn right and move until I reach the basketball courts. I will then turn left and continue on until I reach the final court at Court 5.

Coach Amber will be there waiting for me and will check me into the program.

Nunawading Basketball recommends that I arrive 10 minutes before the program commences (9:50am) to find my bearings.
