Suomen Unima tavoittelee maailman kongressia
Suomen Unima on kiinnostunut saamaan vuoden 2016 maailmankongressin järjestettäväkseen. Asiaa valmistelleiden mielestä Suomella ja suomalaisella nukketeatterilla on hyvät mahdollisuudet olla yksi varteenotettavista vaihtoehdoista tulevana kongressi- ja festivaalimaana.

Uniman maailman kongressi järjestetään joka neljäs vuosi, ja se kokoaa satoja esityksiä ja tuhansia nukketeatterin ystäviä ympäri maailman. Vuoden 2016 tapahtuman pitopaikka päätetään Kiinan Chengdussa vuonna 2012 järjestettävässä maailman kongressissa. Valtteja ovat suomalaisen nukketeatterin hyvä maine ja pohjoismainen eksoottisuus, perustelevat Suomen Uniman puheenjohtaja Janne Kuustie ja kansainvälisten asioiden hoitaja Kati-Aurora Kuuskoski. Suomen Unima on aloittanut selvitysten tekemisen tapahtuman mahdollisuuksista ja mahdollisesta pitopaikasta. Oulun kaupunki on ilmaissut kiinnostuksensa osallistumaan tapahtuman järjestämiseen. Vaihtoehtoisesti Suomea kiinnostaa myös ns. välikokouksen järjestäminen vuonna 2014. Tapahtuma on pienimuotoisempi, ja se järjestetään usein olemassa olevan festivaalin yhteydessä.

Unima World Congress 2016 in Finland?

Finnish Unima is interested in having the Unima World Congress 2016. Finnish Unima thinks that Finland and Finnish Puppetry have a good chance to be one of the most interesting options to be chosen as a host of the congress 2016. Unima world congress is organized every fourth year and it gathers together hundreds of puppetry shows and thousands of partisipants all over the world. The decision about the host of 2016 congress will be made in Chengdu (China) in 2012. The good reputation of Finnis puppetry and the the exotic Nordic are the assets of Finland, Finnish Unima president Janne Kuustie and international coordinator Kati-Aurora Kuuskoski say. Finnish Unima has started to make pre-work for the applications and about the place where the happening could be situated. City of Oulu has already announced that it is very interested to be the host of the congress. As an option Finland is also interested to organize the meeting of 2014. The meeting is much smaller than the world congress and it is normally organized inside another already existing festival.

Neville Tranter directs 3D
One of the best known puppeteers of the world, Neville Tranter, will direct in Finland next autumn. Satu Paavola has written a play called 3D. There will be two actors: Satu Paavola and Martti Suosalo. The premiere is 22nd of September in Linnateatteri.

Wellcome to festivals!
Finland offers many interesting and different kind of puppetry festivals. Mukamas 7th international puppetry festival will take place in Tampere from the the 3rd till 8th May. The Black and White Theater festival will be hold in Imatra the 25th-29th May. Puppet Theater Festival in International arts festival in Mikkeli – Umbrella of stories - is the 26th -29th August.
