Experiential learning is the foundation of a Northeastern education. Through this model of learning, students combine their classroom studies with real-world experiences that help them reinforce what they’ve learned. There are several ways for students to put their education into action:
› Experiential Network (XN): Through the Experiential Network, students help businesses solve real challenges as in-class projects and present their recommendations.
› Capstone/Thesis projects: In many programs, students finish their studies with an extensive research project of their choosing. These projects often require interviews with community members and stakeholders, observations, and other activities to collect original insights.
› Service learning: Students volunteer their skills in healthcare, education, disaster relief, law, and more to support communities abroad and closer to home.
› Research: Take on your own research project or join one of the many state-of-the-art labs and institutes across Northeastern’s campuses to conduct groundbreaking research.
Northeastern’s internationally recognized co-op program allows students to complete up to eight months at a time of paid, full-time work at an employer of their choice during their graduate programs. While on co-op, students become impactful members of their teams, work on cutting-edge projects, and expand their professional networks.
Co-ops can take place in the same city as your home campus or abroad, at global powerhouses like Amazon and Google or at small startups, and in roles you’re sure you want to take on after graduation or in areas you’re just starting to explore.
Previous co-ops have included:
› Technical support liaison for the U.N.’s Chief Central Support Services Division in Jordan
› Paralegal assistant in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York

1. Declare your intent to participate in co-op
