OUT-OF-DISTRICT (OD) FEES

Our programs are open to everyone regardless of whether you live within our district boundaries. District users who live outside of district boundaries do not pay property taxes to help support Sisters Park & Recreation District and are subject to a 30% fee increase.

REFUND POLICY

Please review our direct refund policy and be sure to communicate ahead of time if plans change and you cannot attend a program.

✓ 5 business days notice or more prior to the first day of the program: 100% refund or credit is given minus a $5 processing fee.

✓ 3-4 business days notice prior to the first day of the program: 50% refund or credit is given minus a $5 processing fee.

✓ 2 business days notice prior to the first day of the program or less: no refund or credit given.

✓ Program fees are not refunded or prorated for participants who miss portions of the program.

✓ Full refunds or credits will be granted for programs that are canceled by the district, without withholding a $5 processing fee.

Deschutes County Library Family Story Time

Ages 0-5. In partnership with Deschutes County Library, story time, join us for stories, songs, and rhymes designed to support early literacy skill development, social emotional awareness and family engagement.

Ages 0-5. Stay after Story Time and get those wiggles out. SPRD offers a non-staffed play area, indoor or outdoor, that is open to families looking for a safe space to run, play, and have fun!

BendBits

Ages 2-9. BendBits is an enrichment and empowerment program developed to motivate and inspire children. We transform traditional running relays, games, and drills into bite-sized life lessons that teach confidence, integrity, and resilience. The Outlaw Club (OC)

Grades 5-8. The OC is the place to be after school! All middle school students are welcome at this FREE after school hangout. With video games, homework help, and more, there is always something to do at the OC. This program follows the Sisters School District calendar. Wednesdays may offer extended programming. The Outlaw Club (OC) Summer Adventure Series

Grades 5-8. The OC doesn’t take summers off, we get out and go! All middle school students are welcome as we explore all that Sisters Country has to offer. With a variety of activities offered through the summer, this is the place to be! Registration is required as space and transportation are limited; participants bring a water bottle and provide their own lunch.

Tumalo Falls Hike

Hike to the beautiful and scenic Tumalo Falls via the Tumalo Creek Trail on this moderate 6.4 mile out and back.

Rock Climbing at Smith Rock State Park

Spend the day learning the ropes and climbing at world-class Smith Rock State Park with Chockstone Climbing Guides. This is the perfect introduction to climbing outdoors for beginners.

Summer Playground Program

Entering 1-5. SPRD partners with the City of Sisters to bring to you the Summer Playground Program! This six-week, noncustodial, program offers kids fun activities — games, arts and crafts — at neighborhood parks, led and supervised by SPRD staff. This is a daily drop-in program and does require pre-registration.

STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) Specialty Camps

Fun Works: STEAM using LEGO Camps

Ages 5-11. Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math using motorized LEGOs. Every project is built by students step-by-step with no one left behind. All projects may be modified and decorated while playing. A gear drive electric vehicle, a belt drive motorcycle, and a monorail are just a few of the fun, exciting and educational projects built at this camp.

Fun Works: Art Camps

Ages 5-11. Students are introduced to a new project each day of class, with an emphasis on creativity and selfexpression. Projects include drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and mixed media. All of which are designed with fun, learning, and experimentation as a priority. Students will bring home five projects during the week.

Fun Works: Art of Flight Camps

Ages 5-11. Learn and experiment with the fundamentals and principles of five aircraft. Each student builds, modifies, decorates, and takes home all projects. Paper/motorized airplane, glider airplane, and rockets are just a few of the exciting projects built during camp. All aircraft are artistically customized with stickers and pens by students.

Intro to Wilderness Survival

Ages 6-9. Learn the basics of thriving in the wild. Campers learn confidence, initiative, communication, and common sense through fun survival scenarios in teams and on their own. Skills taught include shelters, fire building, cordage, navigation, knots, traps, primitive skills and more. No prerequisites. Bring appropriate clothing, snacks, and lunch.

Advanced Wilderness Survival

Ages 9-14. This camp goes in depth into critical survival skills using fun, challenging scenarios. Participants work on their own and in teams to problem solve various skills challenges such as shelter, fire, tool use, knife safety, traps, rope and knots, plant uses, animal tracking, primitive skills, navigation and more (we can’t cover all of it in one week!) Instructors help participants build initiative, self-control, confidence, and communication skills while making new friends. Bring appropriate clothing, snacks, and lunch.

Crafter’s Camp

Ages 8-12. Build. Cool. Stuff. This camp is all about tool use, creativity, and engineering. Each day we will introduce a new building project that participants will work on throughout the week to bring home. Projects are generally themed for camping and outdoors. We even try to build the tools we will use to build the other things! Participants practice focus, follow through, patience and develop problem solving and common sense as they work through projects.

Flag Football

Grades 1-4. Flag football is a great way to introduce your child to organized football. Program emphasizes fundamental skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and fun. Teams will practice twice per week with games on Saturdays. Grade 3-4 teams may travel to neighboring communities at the end the season. Volunteer coaches needed.

Tackle Football

Grades 5-6. In partnership with Central Oregon Recreation League, players will be introduced to tackle football using USA Football’s Rookie Tackle 8-player approach. Teams will practice 2-3 times per week in Sisters with games on Saturdays in neighboring communities. Fee includes gear rental; players will be fitted for gear prior to first practice. Volunteer coaches needed.

FALL 2023 PREVIEW

Preschool

Ages 3-4. We offer a yearlong preschool (September-August) that properly prepares your child to enter kindergarten. Our teachers help children grow socially and emotionally along with learning literacy, math, music and movement, art, and physical education. Students must be at least 3 years of age by September 1, 2023, and potty trained. ERDC accepted. Fall commitment forms will be accepted starting April 10,2023. Kids Club

Grades K-4th. The SPRD after school program includes structured playtime, recreation activities, and snack. ERDC accepted.

All adults ages 18 are older are welcome to our adult programs, with the exception of some specialty programs. There is something for all interests and abilities.

SPECIALIZED RECREATION

Game Night by SOUL

Ages 18+. Under 18 welcome with a responsible adult. Join Sisters Opportunities for Unified Living (SOUL) for their once-a-month game nights. All persons, experiencing a disability or not, are welcome for an evening of fun! This program will take a break June through Sept.

Coed Softball League

Ages 18+. A recreational league for all ages, abilities, and skill levels. No umpires. Season consists of a minimum of 6 games plus playoffs. Min. 10 players per team. All team managers must attend a mandatory preseason meeting. Fee is per team.

Cornhole League

Ages 18+. Get your cornhole on at Takoda’s! Each season will consist of 5 weeks with 2 matches per night plus 1-2 weeks of playoffs. Max. 6 players per team. Fee is per team.

Ukulele for Beginners

Ages 18+. E Komo Mai, come join the fun and learn some fundamental skills to get you playing the ukulele quickly! The focus will be on learning to read and play chords along with different strumming techniques and even a little fingerpicking. No musical experience needed. If you don’t have a ukulele, one can be provided.

Sisters Astronomy Club Telescope Workshop

Ages 18+. Do you have a telescope that is sitting in an attic or garage gathering dust because: 1) you’ve forgotten how to use it, 2) it doesn’t work properly because of optical/ mechanical issues, or 3) you just can’t find objects in the sky with your scope? Bring your telescope and experienced amateur astronomers will try to diagnose the issues and make simple adjustments/repairs (when possible). Afterward, you will take your telescope outside to see how the moon looks through the eyepiece. This is a drop-in event; no registration is required.

Ages 55+. This research-based exercise class is designed to improve bone health, muscular strength, and balance in a fun, social, community environment. Includes strength training, aerobic exercise, flexibility exercises, and balance exercises. Beginner to intermediate — come dressed to move.

Spring Walking Club

Join Deschutes Public Library to learn about the latest library apps and how you can access ebooks, audiobooks, and other online library resources. Get the most of your library tax dollars! In the second half of this talk, learn about common internet scams that target older adults and seniors.

Ages 18+. This class focuses on exercises, techniques and steps of classical ballet while developing an aesthetic awareness of the art of ballet. Includes a warm-up at the barre with center floor work and combinations. This is a full body workout for all levels designed to strengthen and tone through a series of low-impact and mindful movements. Includes floor work with core-based conditioning, free weights, and stretching.

Tai Chi

Ages 18+. Join Master JianFeng Chen in learning Tai Chi, often called a moving meditation. Tai Chi can assist all ages and abilities with balance, flexibility, stress relief, and overall health. This class is a Beginning Tai Chi class that will focus on the Simple 8 and 24 Yang Style forms. No experience necessary.

Crest the Cascades

Ages 14+. This spectacular bike ride peddles off from SPRD and goes over the Old McKenzie Highway. With breath taking views of the Cascades and Dee Wright Observatory, this is a must do for any bicyclist. Free T-shirt for riders who register by May 26, 2023. Join us for a post-ride celebration at Eurosports.

Better Bones & Balance®

Ages 55+. This research-based exercise class is designed to improve bone health, muscular strength, and balance in a fun, social, community environment. Glory Daze Car Show

All ages. Set on Main Street, this car show is the perfect way to spend a sunny fall day. Event goers will see a variety of cars that will dazzle the eyes and get their heart pumping when they all start after the award ceremony.
