With the 2018/19 season coming to a close and achieving the most incredible and unrivalled customer feedback EVER, energies are high in the NUCO office, generating a surge of innovation, drive and determination to take 2019/20 to the next level.

For those of you who were part of this, thank you! For those of you who are still to experience what we do, we hopefully look forward to welcoming you next season. Last season over 25,000 passengers travelled with NUCO, and we are happy to report that on average they rated their experience 4.4 stars out of 5. This is something we are incredibly proud of and something we want to invite you to experience.

As well as an unchallenged and impeccable run of perfectly delivered ski holidays (the foundations of your trips), 2018 saw a line-up of insane talent touring through our resorts including Rudimental, My Nu Leng, Example and Shy FX as well as a whole host of residents.

Our guest artists certainly elevated your ski holidays to the next level and combined with our vast menu of After Dark events, brought

those extra special touches and “memorymaking” moments which we are still hearing you talking about now!

I could write a dissertation on our proudest moments this year; from how our fully live and market leading app revolutionised the customer in-resort experience, to our awesome new partners who joined the family and offered unbelievable discounts and deals to your clubs. But my final shout out has to be to our student account management team whom 100% of you would recommend to your committee successors. To me this says it all; the level of experience, delivery and enjoyment you will experience through us remains unquestionable.

Whether you are a current member of the NUCO family or looking to join, its important to us that you understand where we come from. Our history and ethos translates across to everything we do and at the end of the day, its all for you.

THE HISTORY

2002

The story begins - the future NUCO founders experience their first taste of the student snowsports world. The passion starts.

2004 - 08

The soon to be creators of NUCO find themselves running the student ski tour operator 'Off the Piste'

Competitors in the market were: Off the Piste, Ski Alpine, Outgoing and Wasteland Ski By 2009, the strengths of this team were clear- Off the Piste was taking 12,000 students travelling each season- more than any other company out there

THE CATALYST

2009

TUI (the largest travel company in the World) buys Off the Piste - the battle to prevent the student snowsports industry becoming corporate begins.

2011

The NUCO founders leave Off The Piste - their passion for what they do and their vision for the snowsports world being more important than their prestigious positions as market leaders.

It was time to fix the problem- to create what was missing!

THE BIRTH MAR 2012

NUCO Travel is born (from the make shift office of 'Mum and Dad's' lounge). The Mission is set.

We take our first office - a tiny windowless basement - the NUCO headquarters are born.

It takes a lot of experience, knowledge and passion to run a successful company in the snowsports industry and that is what NUCO offers above anyone else.

Let us tell you our story….

7 years ago, a group of 4 friends and colleagues recognised a problem within the industry - something essential was missing.

At this point we had all already worked within the snowsports industry for 10 years and felt that, in terms of what we were able to offer and ‘put on’ for our passengers, there was nothing meeting a standard that we felt happy with. No package seemed to meet a high enough standard and deliver on all its promises.

There were 4 or 5 tour operators out there saying they could ‘do it all’ - there was a lot of talk of excellence, but no delivery.

We were bored of settling. It was time for change.

We wanted to create something that not only sounded good on paper, but was ACTUALLY delivered as promised and to the highest of standards.

We came together – with our years of hard graft, hands-on experience, drive and determination and each of us representing a different skill that we needed to put the master plan into action:

Danny, ‘the pioneer’ - the leader of revolution snowsports with a determination to uphold the true values of university snow.

His unparalleled experience and expertise in delivering industry recognised results were the perfect foundation for the master plan.

Cedric, ‘the international’the final know-how to add to our pool of expertise, Cedric was renowned for his experience in the field of negotiation and supplier management. His sole aim is to ensure there is always the right choice, value and options for our customers.

Tom, ‘the architect’ - always fully hands-on in making ideas a reality, Tom understood the importance for all promises made at the point of sale being delivered as promised. His integrity and values meant and still mean that the client gets exactly what they want, and exactly what they ordered, never disappointing and generating the undeniable feedback that exists today.

Further to the skills we had developed over years in travel and events, we also ‘got’ what student snowsports committees wanted because we have been there - we have been social secs, trip secs, media reps, presidents, treasurers, race captains. We knew what was needed!

Sam, ‘the force’ - the logistical genius behind the scenes, Sam had the prowess to oversee and fine tune all aspects of organisation through a vast amount of knowledge acquired over many years, leaving no ends untied.

 SINGLE POINT OF CONTACT If you select NUCO as your Tour Operator for the upcoming 19/20 season, you will be given a dedicated Account Manager. This person will be your main point of contact throughout the year, whose sole responsibility is to ensure that you have all the support that you need at every point during the upcoming season.

 DESIGN & MEDIA At the NUCO head office, we have an incredible in-house design and media team headed up by the one we call ‘The Wizard’. Our head designer, Elliot is there to help you with any design needs you may have, whether that be bringing your designs to life or just advising your committee and helping them bring their visions to life. The Wizard will ensure everything from your promo to your club merch is on fleek!

Over the summer months, Elliot and the team will work with you to put together a strong freshers promotional kit which will include a bespoke video edit for your club tailored to your trip, posters, flyers and any other freshers freebies you choose. You can then work with Elliot on all your other branding needs; your club merchandise - from gazebos to headbands, and everything in between!

He is on hand for you and you will love working with him! Your wish is his command whether it be bespoke social media content, trip tees, stickers, or even invitations for your birthday party, just ask and the Wizard will make it happen!

YOUR CLUB EVENTS You will have access to the NUCO booking system for big events, which will make ticket selling and keeping track of sales easy. With our unique QR ticket system, you will have all of your tickets for the week in one safe place within the NUCO app, allowing you to access this easily on the night when you may have had a few! This awesome feature also ensures queuing times are kept to the very minimum so that you can spend as much time in the event as possible.

After an ever competitive application process with over 550 applications, over 200 selected candidates joined us in VT for an intense yet enjoyable long weekend of workshops, lectures, activities and events to join Team NUCO.

Every November, just before the season kicks off, our top most experienced reps are invited to our Manchester HQ to train as head reps. This extensive training produces year on year an in- resort team that is unparalleled and the best it can be. November’s intake saw some incredible new talent and in true NUCO style, it finished off with some well-earned drinks.

BUDS Nov 2018 Running BUDS is no easy feat but it was made much easier by the assistance of over 25 hand-picked NUCO Event Reps who joined us in Edinburgh to ensure everything from the hill to the evening club events were run to the highest and most memorable of standards.

NUCO Ball Mar 2019 The NUCO Ball is now a standout event in all of Team’s NUCO calendars and this year was no different, featuring bingo and drag queens and an incredible group of people. It was the perfect celebration for us turning seven!

Jack: I was just catching up with one of my rooms, and in storm this incredible French family dressed as Mickey Mouse, Darth Vader, Cinderella Buzz Lightyear, The Incredibles amongst others and brought in speakers playing disco music and literally just had a surprise party for us. It was just such a surreal moment.

Jack: Après was finishing, everyone was putting their skis on except me and these three guys, we were all dressed in full banana outfits stood on the table at the opposite end of the bar. We both clocked that neither of us wanted to get off so we got ourselves into an intense dance-off. It was the best way to end my trip over winter.

They know what they are there to do, they have the training and motivation to do it and just as we will not let you down, neither will our reps.

NUCO is the most trusted brand in snowsports - universally loved by anyone who has experienced it and infallible due to the hard work and preparation we put into our resort reps. Nothing frustrates us more than when we hear feedback about our competitors resort teams such as.

“We didn’t see a rep all week and had no way to contact them” “Our reps were just out there to get pissed” “We only had 1 rep for our entire group of 80” “Our rep had never been on a coach before” We do not allow this to happen. Our reps are far superior to any other rep teams and this is down to some very simple, but important, differences in how we operate:

All our reps are trained in the Alps, they experience the full NUCO experience from start to finish, so they hit the ground running.

Our reps are a talented bunch who work incredibly well independently, to help them in this we arm them with all the information they need in a specially built rep app, so even if they don’t know everything off the top of their head they will get you the answer you need! It's live and linked to the customer resort app allowing seamless delivery.

Customer Driven Training: We train our staff to care about you, they are not there for a holiday. The reps are trained to see the experience from the eyes of the passenger, they experience the journey, the accommodation, we simulate problems and ask them to solve them.

Diverse Staff Pool: We have over 300 reps on our books, so we will always able to ensure enough reps for you and reps which are suited to your group. And last season, for the first time in NUCO history we took more female candidates on Training Weekend and we are now proud to have a 50/50 gender split across our rep team.

Specialised Team: Each group and week is different, so we ensure that our rep team is best fitted for you, with specialists in events, comps and customer support.

Head Reps: We only promote our best reps to the role of Head Rep, they always have at least one season of experience and receive extra training, support and resources to ensure they can deliver your holiday seamlessly.

Room Rounds: We may be in the age of digital communication, but it is still important to our passengers that they see our reps face to face on room rounds. We will always provide what is important to our customers and for this reason, we have invested into improving our room round experience by introducing specific room round training and forms to ensure the highest standard of room round and information delivery every time, all of which is trackable.

Incentives: With all the incredible feedback we receive it’s only right that we pass this on to our reps. We pass on individual feedback and pay bonuses to the reps who work the groups with the highest feedback, meaning reps who put in the most get more out!

OUR BUCS PARTNERSHIP

For the first time in 15 years, the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) snowsports contract went to tender in March 2018.

Following a series of proposals and a pitch, NUCO was delighted to be awarded the contract for three years (until the 30th March 2021).

Being the exclusive partner of BUCS allows us to offer operational and marketing support to their 3 snowsports events across the academic year; BUDS, Dome Series and Main Event.

We kicked off the year with BUDS, the annual student snowsports pilgrimage to Edinburgh. Combining our operational expertise, creative event production and friendly event crew with the legendary BUCS competition programme, we saw a whole new take on the championships including a big screen, VIP bunker,

headline DJs and much smaller queue times to name a few. Despite the wind cancelling the second day, this is an event the whole NUCO team thoroughly enjoyed lending our hand to.

Starting late November, Dome Series involves four regional qualifiers culminating in the final taking place at Castleford in March. Snowsports teams from all over the country take to the fridge to show off their skills and gain some precious BUCS points for their university.

The finale of student snowsports for the

year comes in the shape of Main Event.

Forget Stoke, we’ve moved it straight back to the Alps! A number of university teams are joining us in Les Deux Alpes in April for a week of bluebirds, competitions and après.

Make sure you ask us how your club can be involved in Main Event next year. We have package options available for clubs of all shapes and sizes so why not make this your Easter trip for next season?

Bringing these events back to what matters - grassroots snowsports - remains the primary objective of the programme, for both ourselves and BUCS. We’re thrilled with what we have achieved this year, however this is only the beginning.

With some big plans in the pipeline, we cannot wait to see how this partnership continues to develop.

ON SUMMER BERLIN EDITION Those of you who have known NUCO for a while may be familiar with our annual Sunset on Summer trip...

Starting in August 2015, we took 40 students to Amsterdam for a weekend of sunshine and revelry. The purpose being for us to get to know our VIPs - student snowsports committees - ahead of a season working together.

Fast forward 4 years, our aim remains the same. However, in our ongoing pursuit of being bigger and bolder than ever before, 2018 saw us stepping up a gear. Following a staff inspection trip the previous summer (important site visits, supplier meetings...), Berlin became the new home of Sunset on Summer for over 200 of you.

A RECAP BY KIRSTEN 39 different snowsports clubs joined us where we kicked things off with a beer bike tour of the city; a great way to see the sights while quenching your thirst. Our first evening saw sunset beer pong in our hostel courtyard followed by a night on the town.

Berlin is famous for its nightlife scene and most certainly did not disappoint!

Next up we hit Badeschiff for a pool party and beach BBQ; the perfect way to ease yourself back in following the night before.

That evening we then took to the river Spree for a boozy cruise before heading to the vogue Birgit & Bier where our very

own student DJs got to play - shout out to Brookes Snow and HWSSC! To all those who joined us in Berlin last year, for our biggest Sunset on Summer to date, thank you. Thank you for the silly fun and hangovers to go with but most of all, thank you for choosing NUCO Travel. We didn't want anyone to miss out on this incredible city, so we've decided to return to Berlin this year. Bis bald!

This year we’re looking to provide photography services included in the NUCO package to as many clubs and their members as possible. We’ll have a media team out for every busy resort on every week of the season dedicated to shooting those kodak moments. Not only will these images be on Facebook within a week of your passengers returning to the UK, but these will be available for download for your general club use as well.

In addition to a pool of images, we’ll create you a list of key objectives to help you sell your trip including a social media plan. This will allow you to maximise your potential and help your club grow to be as big as it can be.

That’s why we provide a photographer for all our big weeks in resort, and, it’s on us. This covers around three quarters of our student passenger trips. If you’re not sure if you’re likely to travelling on a big week, please ask a member of the NUCO team.

The photographers cover the week’s events, nightlife and where possible will take you for your own photo shoot on the slopes.

We can also look to include a photographer specifically dedicated to your group all week factored into your base price at cost. We can tailor the photographer to your needs and budget which can make it very affordable.

Ever since NUCO’s conception, we made a decision to support eight talented athletes each season in grassroots of snowsports competition.

Last season we extended this to include backcountry freeride and have been really taken aback by the level the team have been riding at.

Blessed with perfect powder last year, conditions were very different for the Training week just gone. Skins on and straight into the steeps though, the skiing was physical and technical.

And on the freestyle side, the team had never seen so much progression in one week, first doubles were thrown down and everyone’s rail game was next level.

Learnt hardway back 2's a few months ago, but haven't done those since. Hit a pretty gnarly roof top wall ride filming in Latvia, that was cool.

Laax 100%, there's rails for days! Spending the summer in Perisher, Australia which is somewhere I've always wanted to go, that should be good, hot summer park laps is a dream!

The Ski Club Line-S Games The Ski Club of Great Britain organised the first British and World Ski Championships over a hundred years ago, and we are continuing the legacy with the Line-S Games today.

Every year we run a series of competitions in your favourite resorts to encourage more students to get involved in racing and freestyle. Working closely with NUCO and local suppliers, we preen the pistes and perfect the parks so you can’t resist giving it a go.

Competitions are open to all levels and whether you’re a fresher or a president, newbie or pro, you can expect prizes, an après atmosphere and advice on tackling the course at each event. Think vin chaud, slope-side DJs, comical commentary and even a barbecue or two.
