Meet your new fundraising coordinator Suzi Campbell

Charitable funds and YOU

My name is Suzi and as I write this I’ve been in post for 10 days as your new fundraising coordinator. I sit within the fantastic communication and marketing team but I will also work really closely with Sharon Pounder in finance, who has done an amazing job in looking after the charity as well as her other busy roles.

Having worked in the charity team for eight and a half years at South Tees I’d heard so many lovely things about working for North Tees and Hartlepool and now that I’m in post I can see why. It’s got a really nice atmosphere and as I walk in through the main entrance at North Tees every day, I feel like I’m walking into an airport lounge as people have happy eyes as they greet each other.

I had quite a varied route to the NHS, I’ve worked for a national charity, a prestige car manufacturer and also the prison service, it was here I found my love for the charity sector.

I feel very privileged working for an NHS charity as it sees me coming into contact with lots of staff, of course some departments are more visible due to the nature of their work but I’m a big believer that the hospital is a huge cog and works due to everyone playing their part.

I also get to meet lots of amazing patients and their friends and families, who choose to give back to their hospital to say thank you to staff for looking after them and making a positive difference in their lives.

I’m aware of how tough things have been of late and your charity has a part to play in supporting the

mental health and wellbeing of you, our staff. So if you have any ideas or suggestions of how potentially your charity can support your ward, department, or care group please get in touch and I’d be happy to hear your suggestions to see if it is something your charity can support.

Three days into post I was asked if I could get some pizzas for our emergency department, so a huge thank you to the RACZ group who supplied the staff with free pizza over a weekend.

Some, in fact a lot of you may not even realise you have a charity so it may surprise you even more to learn the charity turned 25 years this year, so please watch this space for ways you may like to support your charity to benefit you and your patients.

The charity isn’t here to replace like for like NHS core funding, but we are here to support and make a difference to enhance those aspects of patient care and staff development which may not be covered through core funding.

I plan to meet as many people are I can, but if you have any ideas or initiatives of how your charity may be able to support you and your patients please get in touch, I’d love to hear from you.
