BRIGHTLIGHTS! by Paul McGrath Kay Meek Sneakers Ball 2.0 The Kay Meek Centre Sneakers Ball 2.0 took place at West Vancouver’s Kay Meek Studio Theatre on the night of Jan. 29. More than 150 guests showed up in their finest sneakers for the fundraising event in support of the North Shore cultural centre, and performance and youth programs. After a 12-year hiatus, the new and improved Sneakers Ball saw the venue transformed into a high-energy dance hall with live music by Whistler’s The Hairfarmers, voted that town’s favourite band since 2001. Guests danced and sang to a wide variety of hits from the ’60s to pop songs of the day. Partygoers taking a break from the dance floor checked out a variety of silent auction items.
