Kerbside collection made easy — a guide for residents Want to ensure that your bins and bags are collected every week without hassle? Then follow our easy guide to kerbside collection below. • All wheelie bins and bags must be left at the kerbside/roadside before 7.30am on collection day (except for Main South Road between Rolleston and Templeton, where the start time is 7am). • Leave at least half a metre of space between wheelie bins, bags and nearby trees and vehicles.

p Christchurch singing teacher Lois Johnston, far right, and five of her students lead the singing of O Come All Ye Faithful for an appreciative audience which packed St John’s Church in Hororata for a Christmas-themed concert last weekend. Proceeds are earmarked for the community’s Anglican church, which suffered extensive damage in the September 2010 earthquake.

• Don’t put bags beside or in front of bins. • If you have a fire and put ash in your rubbish wheelie bin (ash does not go in the organics bin), remember to dampen down the ashes and let them cool for at least five days before putting them in your wheelie bin. Also remember not to burn treated timber, as this releases chemicals e.g. arsenic into the air.

Otherwise this could happen to you...

And you could burn down your house or destroy the collection truck.
