Wood Street Community Workshop We have been working closely with the Mangawhai Business Association and community, testing layout and design through a temporary summer trial and workshops to create a more people-friendly Wood Street. An Innovating Streets grant from Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency means that we can continue collaborating with the Mangawhai community, testing and finetuning further improvements. This progressive co-design approach is called ‘tactical urbanism’. The interim design and community collaboration will inform a future permanent upgrade. The first design workshop will be held on Saturday 18 July at 10.00am-12.00 noon at the Mangawhai Club. Everyone is welcome, please bring your ideas and an openness to work with others. See mangawhaicommunityplan.co.nz/projects/transport for more information.

The latest from the Kaipara Kai Hub The Kaipara Kai Hub provides on-the-ground support that enables land to be used to its best potential. The Hub is delivered by Northland Inc, and is part of Kaipara Kai, one of four KickStart projects led by Kaipara District Council and paid for by the Provincial Growth Fund. Matt Punter (Hub Manager) has been spending time with local farmers and growers developing action plans to support their land diversification goals. Matt has also been hosting food and agri industry professionals and other stakeholders at our Hub in Ruawai to share with them our mission and grow our network and knowledge base.

DORA is coming to Dargaville Library! DORA (Digital On-Road Access) is a mobile learning centre that provides digital banking training to local communities. Classes are run in groups of ten, so to secure a spot, register at steppingup.nz/dora-northland/.

Kaipara Kai Hub recently facilitated two regenerative agriculture events with guests Peter Barrett and Jono Frew (Country Calendar Season 2020, Episode 7) who presented their learnings when trialling and adopting regenerative agriculture practices. Thank you to the Harding family, Dargaville Rugby Club, Kaiwaka Sports Association, Ruawai Dairy and Takeaways and La Nonna Italian bakery for supporting this event. Most importantly thank you to everyone who showed up and joined the conversation.

You can visit the library for further details, or see the full list of dates on the library website kaipara.kotui.org.nz.

If you are interested in how we could help you and want to know more, reach out on Facebook Kaipara Kai Hub or call 027 202 7987.
