Mangawhai Library

Funding specified is only for the purchase of books.

The Library is a community asset whose membership has increased from 360 members in 2011 to 553 members in 2014. They are seeking an increase of $4,825.00 from last year. Library services are considered consistent with the purpose of Local Government.

Community Library support includes: As part of this Contract for Service Council shall provide: • Library Management System (currently Napier Computer Systems) • The availability of regular book exchanges of Dargaville stock • Dargaville Library’s collection available to customers District‑wide

The Mangawhai Library has also stated that they require extra space and will be looking at extending their space by enclosing the veranda area in the near future.

• An internal courier system between libraries • Access to digital library services where possible • Professional support from Dargaville Library staff and Library Manager • Training, policy and operational guidance from Dargaville Library • IT support from Council IT staff (or through external sources) • Cover telephone and internet costs needed to deliver library services • The supply of basic stationary such as printer and receipt paper, laminating pouches, labels, printer cartridges. • National and International interloan services Maungaturoto Public Library Inc

To provide Library services to the Maungaturoto community. Book Purchases $4685.00 Stationary, postage and incidentals $640.00 Mileage for Dargaville and Northland Librarian Network swaps $545.00

This is a community asset which benefits the Maungaturoto community. They are seeking an additional $1,320.00 from last year to cover their stationary and incidentals, mileage for Dargaville and Northland Librarian Network swaps and to put money aside in a goal saver. Library services are considered consistent with the purpose of Local Government.

Use of the Council‑owned building currently occupied by Maungaturoto library and Council pays their cost of electricity. Surf Lifesaving Northern Region

$44,000.00

This application is to provide 8 weeks of surf life saving service at Mangawhai and 3 weeks of surf life saving services at Baylys on Ripiro Beach.

Council is a long term supporter of this activity.

Kauri Coast Swimming Pool Trust $250,00.00

To run and maintain the Kauri Coast Swimming Pool (Dargaville 50m Pool). This information on costs for the service are based on last year’s grant.

Maintaining public pools are considered to be consistent with the purpose of Local Government.

Sport Northland

To provide and increase physical activity opportunities throughout the Kaipara District.

Council is a long time supporter of this organisation.
