Sale Information 1. OUTSIDE AGENT REBATE A rebate commission of 3% will be payable to outside agents who introduce prospective clients in person and in writing at the time of buyer registration prior to the Sale, attend the sale and settle on behalf of their clients within seven (7) working days of receipt of invoice.

2. SOCIETY REGISTRATION All cattle entered in this sale are registered with the Red Angus Society of Australia. Vendors will transfer to purchasers, please indicate your Red Angus Society ident on the Buyers Instruction Sheet. Transfer fees will be the responsibility of the Vendor in accordance with the Red Angus Society of Australia Regulations.

3. HEALTH Goonoo, GK, Goondoola and Yallambie are J-BAS Score 7.

Intending purchasers should make their own investigation for entry of cattle from this sale into their locality.

All animals are tested Pestivirus Negative with written confirmation supporting this.

4. DELIVERY AND TRANSPORT Delivery will be from each vendors property. Please talk to vendors for frieght coordination.

5. CONDITIONS OF SALE FOR INTERSTATE PURCHASE a. Any animal, purchased for interstate movement, which requires further tests will be forwarded to an approved Quarantine area where appropriate tests will be carried out in compliance with the entry requirements into the destination state. The costs of agistment, transport and health tests are to be borne by the Purchaser of all cattle passing such tests, or by the Vendor should they fail to pass such tests. Payment for cattle to the Vendor will be made within the normal terms of sale whether or not the cattle have been tested for entry into the nominated state. b. In the event of the cattle failing health tests and sale being cancelled, the Vendor will refund all monies, paid as settlement, for the Purchaser.

6. FERTILITY GUARANTEE All female animals are to be sold as guaranteed breeders.

Where a Purchaser submits a Veterinary Certificate to a Vendor within twelve (12) months of the date of sale stating that a female of joinable age is infertile, and in the Veterinary Surgeon’s opinion, she has not suffered since the delivery to the Purchaser, any injury or maltreatment which could have affected its breeding ability, the Vendor is liable to refund the purchase price of the animal in full. This will not apply where an attempt has been made to transfer embryos from the female.

7. SALE INSPECTION All vendors welcome inspection on farm prior to the sale by appointment.

GOONOO RED ANGUS

Ten years ago we calved out our first Goonoo Red Angus calf. A decade on, we can reflect back on the satisfaction of developing a herd that offers predictability, performance and pedigree strength to the Red Angus breed.

Although we are relatively newcomers to the Red Angus breed our family has an extensive association with the cattle industry.

The Goonoo Creek Simmental stud achieved considerable success at major industry events and a loyal clientele. Our Simmental dispersal will be remembered as one of the strongest Simmental herd dispersals with lots selling Australia wide at outstanding prices.

The Jordan family was and continues to be involved in the dairy industry although now as a genetic supplier through Peel Valley Genetics. This dairy association forms a strong component of our breeding philosophy on the value of proven female families and maternal attributes.

Extensive research identified the high performance maternal families that we based our herd on. Legendary families such as the GK Dina, Trevone Park Kite and Snoopy, RRA Imp, BST Tullatoola Dutchess and Kansas Goldmine to name a few.

These females have formed a solid foundation for our future development.

To ensure we continue to offer industry leading genetics to the Red Angus breed we have recently purchased a half share in an outstanding Canadian female Red Redrich Lexie 133E. GOONOO RED Magnolia (GSJM16) Sire: K5X Jackpot J20 Top price Inaugural Red Reflections Sale $20,000

These maternal lines have been individually matched to the best sire lines available. We have invested in securing outcross North American sires such as Red Northline Chuck Norris 305X as well as recognised outstanding local genetics such as walking sire K5X Jackpot J20.

Breed leaders such as Red Fine Line Mulberry 26P are selected to complement our program and animals such as Goonoo Jose Carreras, the grand champion bull at the 2016 Sydney Red Angus Feature show are testament to this.

We use the showring as a promotion window to our program and have achieved tremendous success including Brisbane, Adelaide and Sydney champions as well as at the National Show and Sale. However the driving focus of the Goonoo breeding philosophy will always be the production of Red Angus genetics to enhance and develop profitability for breeders that invest in our breeding program.

GK Livestock

The GK Prefix was registered in 1996 with the goal of establishing a quality herd of Red Angus Cattle. Based just outside Dalby on Queensland’s Darling Downs, Kirrily’s aim remains to breed a select herd of performance red cattle, while retaining the calving ease, meat quality and maternal attributes for which the Angus breed is renowned.

GK is a limited number cow herd that has consistently bred and produced many sale toppers and show winners over the years. Some of the highlights of our herd include breeding the Australian Record priced Red Angus Female in 2016 for GK Red Maple 26 H33 ($20,500) and the triple Royal Show Interbreed winner in 2012 and trait leader GK 26 Federer F23. Also other major highlights for the stud, included winning the Hordern Trophy in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2017 and topping it off by winning the Urquhart Trophy in 2017 with GK Red Ruba 26 G40

GOONDOOLA RED ANGUS Goondoola Livestock is a family run operation owned by Paul and Sue Powe along with their daughters Nicole, Hannah and their families. Since its establishment in the early 1980s breeding solely Murray Grey cattle, Goondoola diversified into Red Angus in 2009 and hasn’t looked back since.

Goondoola purchased their first Red Angus female, RRA Miss Rumba D2, out of the Sydney Royal All Breeds Sale from RRA Red Angus. Two more females, BST Tullatoola Robin’s Doll C104 & BST Tullatoola Gold C13, were purchased privately from BST Tullatoola. At the time we thought these females were pretty special but never thought they would have the huge impact they have had on our breeding program producing numerous champions across the country, including a number of interbreed winners.

Over the years we have sourced outcross genetics from North America to introduce to our breeding program which included purchasing two females from Blairs.Ag in Canada, Red JCC Roxie 20S and Red Blair’s Monique 175A. More recently we secured the Australian semen rights in KJHT Power Take Off (PTO).

With small numbers, we aim to produce a quality line up of cattle year in, year out with capacity, performance and longevity, while ensuring our cattle are moderate, easy doing and perform well within both the paddock and the show ring.

Red Angus GROUP BREEDPLAN EBVs cannot be validly compared to the GROUP BREEDPLAN EBVs for other breeds (including Angus). Only GROUP BREEDPLAN EBVs with Accuracy (Acc) from the same analysis (eg. Red Angus) can be validly compared.

Estimated Breeding Values (EBVs) An Estimated Breeding Value EBV is an estimate of the genetic value of that particular animal for each trait measured.

Accuracy

An accuracy is presented with every EBV and gives an indication of the amount of information that has been used in the calculation of that EBV. The higher the accuracy the lower the likelihood of change in the animal’s EBV as more information is analysed for that animal or it’s relatives. Accuracy below 75% should be considered low.

400-Day Weight EBV (kg) is calculated from the weight of progeny taken between 301 and 500 days of age, adjusted to 400 days and for age of dam. This EBV is the best single estimate of an animal’s genetic merit for yearling weight.

600-Day Weight EBV (kg) is calculated from the weight of progeny taken between 501 and 900 days of age, adjusted to 600 days and for age of dam. This EBV is the best single estimate of an animal’s genetic merit for growth beyond yearling age.

Mature Cow Weight EBV (kg) is based on the cow weight when the calf is weighed for weaning, adjusted to 5 years of age. This EBV is an estimate of the genetic difference in cow weight at 5 years of age and is an indicator of growth at later ages and potential feed maintenance requirements of the females in the breeding herd. Steer breeders wishing to grow animals out to a larger weight may also use the Mature Cow Weight EBV.

TRAITS

Milk EBV (kg) is an estimate of an animal’s milking ability. For sires, this EBV indicates the effect of the daughter’s milking ability, inherited from the sire, on the 200-day weights of her calves. For dams, it indicates her milking ability.

CE % Dir = Direct Calving Ease - The EBV for direct calving ease indicates the influence of the sire on calving ease in purebred females calving at two years of age.

Scrotal Size EBV (cm) is calculated from the circumference of the scrotum taken between 300 and 700 days of age and adjusted to 400 days of age. This EBV is an estimate of an animal’s genetic merit for scrotal size. There is also a small negative correlation with age of puberty in female progeny and therefore selection for increased scrotal size will result in reduced age at calving of female progeny.

Calving Ease EBVs (%) are based on calving difficulty scores, birth weights and gestation length information. More positive EBVs are favourable and indicate easier calving.

CE % Daughters = Daughters’ Calving Ease - The EBV for daughters’ calving ease indicates how easily that sire’s daughters will calve at two years of age.

Gestation Length EBV (days) is an estimate of the time from conception to the birth of the calf and is based on Artificial Insemination & hand mating records. Lower (negative) Gestation Length EBVs indicate shorter gestation length & therefore easier calving & increased growth after birth.

Birth Weight EBV (kg) is based on the measured birth weight of progeny, adjusted for dam age. The lower the value the lighter the calf at birth and the lower the likelihood of a difficult birth. This is particularly important when selecting sires for use over heifers.

200-Day Growth EBV (kg) is calculated from the weight of progeny taken between 80 and 300 days of age. Values are adjusted to 200 days and for age of dam. This EBV is the best single estimate of an animal’s genetic merit for growth to early ages.

Eye Muscle Area EBV (sq cm) is calculated from measurements from live animal ultrasound scans and from abattoir carcase data, adjusted to a standard 300 kg carcase. This EBV estimates genetic differences in eye muscle area at the 12/13th rib site of a 300 kg dressed carcase. More positive EBVs indicate better muscling on animals. Sires with relatively higher Eye Muscle Area EBVs are expected to produce better muscled and higher percentage yielding progeny at the same carcase weight than will sires with lower Eye Muscle Area EBVs. Rib Fat and Rump Fat EBVs (mm) are calculated from measurements of subcutaneous fat depth at the 12/13 rib site and the P8 rump site (from live animal ultrasound scans and from abattoir carcases) and are adjusted to a standard 300 kg carcase. These EBVs are indicators of the genetic differences in fat distribution on a standard 300 kg carcase. Sires with low, or negative, fat EBVs are expected to produce leaner progeny at any particular carcase weight than will sires with higher EBVs.

Northern Steer Index (NTH) - Estimates the genetic differences between animals in net profitability per cow joined for an example commercial herd in Northern Australia with Bos Indicus cows targeting grass finished steers for export. Steers are marketed at 600 kg live weight (330 kg HSCW and 10 mm P8 fat depth) at 27 months of age. Daughters are retained for breeding. In response to industry feedback regarding eating quality and tenderness, a small premium has been placed on marbling.

Comments: N23 is probably the first Bullseye daughter to come into production in Australia and she is also the last daughter of the magnificant old V116 cow. V116 was the founder of the GK Red Foxy Lady cow family.

N23 exhibits superb udder quality, length of body and feminity combined with a very kind temperament. The GK first calvers went through a terribly rough time as pregnant yearlings, but N23 is coming along nicely now that we’ve got a good seasonal break in Southern Queensland.
