very important profession. You literally have people’s lives in your hands. You change people’s lives,” says Scott Hoffman, who in 2019, contributed $25,000 to NSCC’s Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) program. In 2000, Scott suffered a stroke which left his entire left side nonfunctioning and was told by doctors he may never walk again. His physical therapist at the time was Mary Meng-Lee, now Department Chair and Program Director of NSCC’s PTA Program. “Mary is an incredible therapist, and because of her care, I was able to get my life and dreams back.” Although Scott now lives in Florida, he has volunteered as a speaker and as a simulated patient for NSCC’s PTA program. “I am so happy with the overall success of the students and the program. I want to help ensure it keeps going.”
