FULFILLING THE PROMISE When it was founded, Nevada State College made a promise to provide access to a wide range of baccalaureate degrees for a diverse student population and improve their workforce readiness, especially for in-demand careers in health care, education, and business. We have proven that a quality college education can be accessible and affordable. Nevada State costs less than the state universities, with 72 percent of Nevada State students receiving financial assistance in some form of federal, state or College aid. There are also many college and community scholarships available, including Achieve Nevada, a robust financial aid program that is among the most attractive financial aid offerings in the state of Nevada.

> Nevada State has a multifaceted support system in place to keep students on track. Some examples of this include the Nepantla Summer Bridge Program (between high school and college), the Writing Center, TRIO Student Support Services, course assistants, and mandatory advising, all of which are effective in helping students progress toward the successful completion of their degrees. > Nevada State is committed to teacher education preparation in size and quality. The college is addressing it in various ways with the new master’s in Speech Pathology, a new degree in Early Childhood focused on special education, and expanding statewide education degree offerings in partnership with community colleges in Northern Nevada. > Nevada State College welcomes an eclectic population of students with more than 60 percent of its students from culturally diverse backgrounds. The college has been recognized as the second fastest growing public state four-year college in the nation. It also has been identified nationally as a Minority- Serving Institution (MSI), HispanicServing Institution (HSI), and Asian American and Native American Pacific IslanderServing Institution (AANAPISI). Additionally, 58 percent of Nevada State College students are the first generation in their families to seek higher education.
