As part of our NSPDK's voting initiative in 2022, I distributed information to my high school students.

Soros Seals, McCullough, Colbert-Davis and Williams participated in the MLK Community March on Jan. 16, 2023. PAGE 9

Due to the pandemic, Teach-A-Rama had not been held for a few years. This February, it returned with a panel on teacher retention. Our online program was attended by sorors from across the country and feared a quality discussion with Texas educators. I contributed a question about workload and inquired as to how we can solve the problems relating to burnout among teachers

READING

At the MLK Community March, my fellow Sorors and I collected signatures from people pledging to read as part of our "Reading Across NSPDK" program.

Throughout the year, Soror Colbert-Davis purchases books to be donated to local elementary schools and the Ronald McDonald House. This is one way that I help our reading and literacy committee, which finds many ways to give back to the community.

NUTRITION, HEALTH, & HYPERTENSION

As a person who was diagnosed with high blood pressure at a young age, Soror Colbert-Davis understands the importance of a healthy lifestyle. She is an advocate for moving around, enjoys walking when her schedule allows it and has participates in the Austin’s Cap 10K race. When at home, she stresses healthy food choices for her young son.

The Delta Beta Chapter has had guest speakers from places like Austin's "Healthy Places, Healthy People" give self-guided activities. During chapter meetings Soror Davis listens in presentations about health issues in Black communities like sickle cell and hypertension. Dancing is also encouraged at events to get the Sorors and Anthropos moving, and a low impact ropes course was conducted during as a way to incorporate teamwork and physical activity after the chapter meeting.

XINOS KUDOS

Soror Colbert-Davis worked with the Xinos and Kudos to get them involved in our Founder's Day program. Our talented Xinos and Kudos contributed dancing and informative speaking.

Soror Colbert-Davis helped Kudos with their vision board. Soror Colbert-Davis uses her talents as a math teacher to tutor the Kudos.

Soror Colbert-Davis along with Soror Kay Fowler worked with the Kudos during the 2019-2020 school year. She attended meetings and step practices. Soror ColbertDavis helped the Kudos with their activity book and attended their 2020 youth conference.

Youth Group

The Delta Beta Chapter supports the youth throughout the year by participating in fundraising activities and mentorship opportunities. At the end of each year, Soror Colbert-Davis attends a senior celebration that honors the graduating seniors and scholarship winners.

Soror Colbert-Davis helps put together baskets for the graduating seniors each year, equipped with essentials for college life. She typically donates shower caddies.

SCHOLARSHIP

Colbert-Davis has been a consistent member of the NSPDK,inc Perpetual Scholarship Foundation.

Colbert-Davis and her husband attend Delta Beta’s Biennial Scholarship Banquet and fundraiser. This is Delta Beta’s biggest fundraiser and benefits our scholarship program.

Colbert helps the committee by purchasing items to help local families in need. This year, the chapter was able to bless three families with a full Thanksgiving dinner.

Soror Chastity Colbert participates in Delta Beta’s local project, Ronald McDonald House of Austin, by donating toiletries and books to families in need. PAGE 20 PAGE 21

Soror Chastity Colbert-Davis became a member of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc in 2018. Although only being in the sorority for 5 years, including a pandemic, she has demonstrated leadership capabilities and served unselfishly on committees. Soror Chastity Colbert Davis was the chair of this year’s Founders Day. It included many events highlighted in the news article. There were lots of surprises including a slideshow and Delta Beta Paddle with an orginal Founder’s Signature.

STAY AT HOME EA UNDRAISER Christmas Gathering Committee

Soror Chastity Cobert-Davis has consistently participated in the Delta Beta Stay at Home Tea Fundraisers by collecting donations from friends and family. She has helped the committee by designing signage (wording) and planning Delta Beta’s 1st Tea Party.

This year Soror Chastity helped plan the Annual Christmas Gathering Committee by designing programs, decorating and preparing a budget. She was also the DJ for the event! This year’s event was open to

twoneighboring chapters and was attednded by the Supreme Basileus

EADERSHIP

Soror Colbert-Davis served as the financial secretary from 2019-2022. She handled remittance forms, collected dues and created financial reports. Being the financial secretary is a tall task, but her organizational skills helped her with these duties. She also developed a way to streamline receipts electronically to get better track on bookkeeping

As the chair of the budget committee, Soror Colbert-Davis looks over the finances from the previous year and creates a budget for the new year. Her experience with being a math teacher helps her with these duties, which can take several weeks to complete.

EADERSHIP CIVIC & COMMUNITY

Over her 16 years at McCallum High, Soror Colbert-Davis has had various leadership roles. She served as the school's cheerleading coach for seven years and has mentored the program's new coaches since she stepped down from that role. As one of the most-tenured math teachers on campus, she is a leader within her own department. She has also served as a class sponsor at the school and helped put on the 2022 prom.

A longtime member at Austin's Greater Mount Zion, Soror ColbertDavis enjoys giving back to her church community by volunteering in the children's ministry. She has also volunteered with the Central Texas Food Bank and participated in various volunteer activities with her school.
