North Platte High School COVID-19 Playbook

North Platte High School Covid Playbook ​Updated 10.30.20 Our goal is to provide a safe learning environment for all students that mitigates the risks during the COVID pandemic. North Platte Public Schools has developed a playbook that addresses the daily operations of our schools. At North Platte High School, we have highlighted areas that are unique to our school. The goal is to assist parents in understanding the expectations and routines. Students will be taught expectations the first day and continue throughout the school year.

Students will learn proper social distancing, washing hands, masks and sanitizing. For more in-depth plans in regards to COVID, access the ​District Return to School Plan​.

Start of the Day Students are welcome to wait in the commons until the 8:00 AM bell, then proceed to Bulldog Time (1st Block on Wednesdays)

Orange

Students are encouraged to not arrive at NPHS before 7:50 Same as AM. Yellow Doors will open at 7:00 AM for students that must be dropped off earlier than 7:50 AM. Students arriving prior to 7:50 AM should proceed to Bulldog Time (1st Block on Wednesdays) at 7:50 AM, after grabbing breakfast.

The tardy bell for Bulldog Time is still 8:05 AM on Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday. The tardy bell for 1st Block is still 8:05 AM on Wednesdays.

Once students arrive on school property, they should enter the building. Students are asked to avoid large gatherings.

Masks are required while on school property. This includes the parking lot, and spaces outside the building.

Breakfast

Breakfast in the Commons until 8:00 AM.

Multiple-breakfast stations are available for students to receive grab-and-go breakfasts. Limited seating will be provided in the commons area for Juniors and Seniors arriving before 7:50 AM.

Additional seating will be available in the small gym for Freshmen and Sophomores. At 7:50 AM, students will proceed to Bulldog Time (1st Block on Wednesdays), where they can continue eating breakfast if they choose.

Masks may be taken off while students eat, and should be placed back on the face after they are finished.

End of the Day Dismiss from classrooms at 3:25 PM

A staggered ​dismissal schedule (LINK)​ is implemented, Same as based on the student’s 4th-block classroom location.

Yellow Dismissal times are at 5-minute increments, between 3:05 and 3:25 PM, depending on the day of the week. Students are encouraged to proceed to their after-school destination immediately. This includes:

Restrooms

Whole-classroom breaks are scheduled at approximately Same as halfway through each class. All students are encouraged to Yellow use this time to wash hands, apply hand sanitizer, and use the restroom as-needed.

Restrooms will still remain open during passing periods, and for the duration of each class. Students are encouraged to use the restroom during class breaks, but may also continue to receive written passes from teachers, as-needed.

Lunchroom

Lunch in the Commons for all students, following the A, B, C, D lunch schedule.

Lunch will be served in the commons to all students, grouped into A, B, C, and D-lunches. Seating will be more limited, with overflow seating in the Small Gym/

Once seating in the Commons is full, students may proceed to the Small Gym, where tables and chairs will also be available.

Seniors continue to have open campus. Seniors leaving/entering the building will be required to use their student ID’s at the Raptor Stations.

Disinfecting

Same as Yellow

In each learning center and restroom, sinks with handsoap Same as are available for students to use during passing periods, Yellow classroom breaks, and prior to lunches.

Hand sanitizer stations are placed in each classroom.

Students are encouraged to use these stations before, during, and after classes.

Nurse

Daily, Prior to School: Parents should conduct a symptom survey for their child, including a temperature check. The presence of a temp of 100.0 or higher or Covid-like symptoms should prompt the

Teachers will call ahead before sending a student to the Nurses' Office. When presenting to the Nurses' Office, a student will need a pass unless it is an emergency.

Students will not be allowed to visit the Nurses' Office during passing between classes, unless it is an emergency.

Nurses will triage, temperature check, review symptoms and direct to well-area or holding/isolation area based on assessment results. If ill, students will need to be picked up from school in a timely manner.

Daily/routine medications and treatments should be given at home prior to school if possible. Nebulizer Treatments should be given at home due to current recommendations.

Inhalers with spacers are recommended.

Visitors

Same as Yellow, except approved visitors are allowed with Administrative permission.

Parents/guardians should come to North Platte High School Same as only for essential reasons. All other visitors are not Yellow. allowed at NPHS. Any communication that can be done via phone, email, or Zoom is strongly encouraged.

Parents/guardians are required to wear masks upon entering NPHS.

Food deliveries are not allowed for students and staff.

Non-food deliveries are discouraged and require the approval of the Principal. Non-food items delivered to NPHS may be kept in the main office until the end of the day.

Communication Same as Yellow

When there is a potential Covid-19 exposure at North Same as Platte High School, an email, via SchoolMessenger, will be Yellow sent to impacted families and staff. This message will be sent as soon as possible to students and staff that share classes with the individual(s) that test positive. There will be no information that directly identifies students or staff, in order to protect their privacy. However, as much information as possible will be provided so that families and staff are informed as soon as possible.
