Letter from the CEO & Board Chair
AS WE REFLECT ON 2024, we are deeply proud of how our community of students, alumni, staff, volunteers, and partners have come together to meet this moment with purpose. It was a year marked by rapid change, emerging technologies, and unique challenges that required us to be agile, creative, and bold in our approach. In true NPower fashion, we did more than adapt. We led with innovation. More importantly, we remained a bold, adaptive force committed to transforming lives and bridging opportunities.
Our 2030 Roadmap continues to guide our strategy through four pillars: creating seamless transitions, expanding learning pathways, advancing systems change, and building scale and sustainability. These pillars anchor our priorities to expand our reach, strengthen alumni engagement, reinforce our voice as a thought leader in workforce development, maintain financial strength, and become a leading nonprofit employer.
In 2024, we advanced these goals through meaningful action. Our SkillBridge Cybersecurity program continued to deliver remarkable outcomes for transitioning service members. Our growing apprenticeship work has become a critical bridge between classroom learning and real-world employment. The launch of our App Development program is creating new pathways into one of the most in-demand areas of tech, helping our students gain the skills needed to thrive in software development careers. These initiatives are more than programs. They are pathways to possibility.
We know that what sets NPower apart is not only what we teach, but also how we deliver it. Technology is evolving rapidly, especially in areas like artificial intelligence. That’s why we continually reinvent our curriculum and collaborate closely with our employer and community partners to ensure our training remains relevant and forward-looking. We also understand that success goes far beyond technical skills. Our wraparound services, including career coaching, trauma-informed care, job placement assistance, and upskilling opportunities, ensure our students are supported at every stage, from training through career advancement.
This work is only possible because of the trust, connection, and camaraderie we’ve built with our partners and stakeholders. Together, we are expanding access to opportunity, transforming lives, and preparing the next generation of tech talent to thrive.
MATT HORNER Chair, NPower Board of Directors Executive Vice President, World Wide Technology, Inc.

YEAR IN REVIEW
03 Transformation by the Numbers
IN 2024, the push toward skills-based hiring accelerated as employers sought candidates who could keep pace with rapidly evolving technology, especially in fields shaped by artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and cloud computing. While the bias toward four-year degrees still dominated many job descriptions, more companies began to recognize that potential and proven skills matter in the everevolving tech landscape. This shift is creating new pathways for NPower students, who have long been overlooked by conventional hiring practices.
NPower continued to deliver measurable results in 2024. A total of 2,296 individuals enrolled in our programs, and 82% successfully graduated from NPower programs. Over 45% of students came to NPower unemployed, and 60% did not have a college degree. The impact on earning power is especially striking. Before NPower, students had an average starting salary of just over $20,000. After graduation, that average jumped to nearly $54,000, a 168 percent increase. These gains were most significant among military-connected students. Veterans, spouses, and transitioning military members saw the most significant salary lift, with post-program earnings averaging more than $73,000. With focused pathways in cybersecurity, cloud computing, and app development, NPower’s programs are equipping students with highdemand skills and accelerating upward mobility in an evolving tech workforce.

INNOVATING FOR IMPACT
Transforming Programs, Bridging Opportunity
THE PACE OF TECHNOLOGICAL CHANGE and the growing demand for skilled workers require training models that are both innovative and accessible. In 2024, NPower advanced its mission by reimagining instruction, strengthening learner support, and developing scalable strategies that connect untapped talent to opportunity.
A major milestone was the launch of the Digital Workforce Development Lab, a dedicated hub for aligning curriculum with labor market needs and learner realities. Developed in collaboration with the Instructional Institute and the Command Shift Coalition, the Lab introduced hybrid and accelerated formats for software development and cybersecurity training. These offerings are designed to expand access for learners who balance work, family, and caregiving responsibilities.
“Everything we do is in response to the evolving needs of our students and the employers who will hire them. Innovation is only meaningful if it leads to opportunity, and we are building every part of our program with that principle in mind.”
ROBERT VAUGHN Executive Director of the Instructional Institute at NPower Training Industry
Nowhere was this more evident than in the New York and New Jersey Metro Area, where NPower launched the Path2TECH: Networking and Systems Administration program. This 26-week evening program provides rigorous instruction in networking, systems administration, cloud technologies, and generative AI while preparing students for industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Linux+, and Microsoft Azure. Graduates move into roles such as Systems Administrator, Network Analyst, and Cloud Operations Specialist, with average starting salaries of $55,000 to $60,000. At the same time, NPower scaled its Community Help Desk, where students and alumni provide hands-on tech support to seniors, small businesses, nonprofits, and households with limited digital access. These initiatives not only deliver real-world skill development for learners but also provide vital services that strengthen local communities.
ADVANCED TRAINING
Bridging the Cyber Talent Gap
NPOWER’S CYBERSECURITY ADVANCED TRAINING PROGRAM
immerses students in real-world scenarios, building skills in threat detection, system hardening, and risk mitigation. Learners gain hands-on experience that mirrors the pressures of today’s security landscape while also earning industry-recognized credentials. Employers benefit from a stronger, more capable pipeline of professionals who bring not only technical acumen but also persistence, creativity, and leadership. With over half a million cybersecurity jobs available in the United States alone, the demand for trained professionals has never been more critical. NPower graduates enter the workforce ready to safeguard critical systems, respond to evolving threats, and contribute immediately in environments that demand both technical expertise and adaptability.

VETERANS AND MILITARY-CONNECTED:
Expanding Access, Elevating Futures
AT NPOWER, we continue to believe that the transition from military to civilian life is not the end of service. It is the beginning of a new opportunity. In 2024, our programs for veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses continued to expand and create real economic mobility through world-class training and high-demand tech skills.
Our programs continue to respond to these challenges with a focused and practical approach for veterans and military-connected individuals. Whether someone has served in a combat role or supported operations behind the scenes, we help translate their service experience into civilian success. For military spouses, who often face unique challenges including frequent moves and limited access to reskilling opportunities, NPower offers flexible learning formats that support career advancement without sacrificing family stability.
“We see an abundance of leadership, situational awareness, and agile problem-solving in militaryconnected individuals. Those are exactly the qualities employers are looking for, and we help translate them into thriving tech careers.”
BERTINA CECCARELLI NPower CEO
The expansion of the SkillBridge Cybersecurity program marked a major milestone, made possible through a one-million-dollar grant from the Northrop Grumman Foundation. With new hubs planned in Southern California, NPower is on track to double the number of active-duty service members served while also increasing opportunities for veterans and spouses. In 2024, the program’s certification success rate remained above 95 percent, with the majority of graduates securing employment within six months of completion. Behind these outcomes are individual success stories, such as Juan Cruz, a Navy veteran who transitioned from loading aircraft to launching a fastgrowing career in cybersecurity.

YOUNG ADULT CAREER PATHWAYS
Equipping the Next Generation for a Rapidly Evolving Tech Landscape
IN 2024, technology continued to evolve at a breakneck pace across all industries, driven by the widespread integration of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and emerging fields like spatial and quantum computing. While this created exciting new pathways for innovation and career advancement, it also introduced uncertainty and disruption, particularly for young adults navigating early career decisions. NPower remained a trusted guide through this complex landscape, helping students build the skills, confidence, and connections needed to thrive in a rapidly shifting job market.
The results speak for themselves. Across all regions, NPower is helping young adults to turn ambition into action, regardless of background or circumstance. More than numbers, these are stories of transformation that show the possibilities of first jobs in tech, families supported through growing careers, and confidence built in communities too often left behind. By scaling our impact and building seamless pathways, we are helping the next generation of tech talent thrive.
These outcomes reflect not only the high demand for tech talent but also the transformative potential of our training programs in accelerating economic mobility.

PATH2TECH:
A New Pathway into App Development
IN MARCH 2024, NPower launched Path2TECH: App Development, a 20-week intensive designed to prepare women from nontraditional and low-income backgrounds for careers in one of tech’s fastest-growing fields. The program equips students with hands-on skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python, along with experience in Agile practices, GitHub, and collaborative project development. Participants also receive career readiness training and build professional portfolios to showcase their work.
The inaugural cohort of 53 women from Atlanta, Dallas, Washington, D.C., and New York demonstrated the power of this new pathway. Graduates celebrated their achievements at a virtual ceremony featuring student and alumni speakers, industry mentors, and partners from leading companies, including Citi, Comcast NBCUniversal, Google, MetLife, Netflix, and Peloton. With starting salaries between $55,000 and $60,000, graduates are stepping into roles such as Systems Administrator, Cloud Operations Specialist, and Network Analyst.
“We believe that if we take that individual who is highly skilled and if we provide them with bridge training and last-mile training, then we can help them transition into technology careers that will be impactful.”

In October, NPower’s work was further elevated through Adobe’s global skilling initiative, which aims to bring AI literacy, content creation, and digital marketing skills to 30 million learners worldwide. NPower integrated these resources into the Path2Tech curriculum, strengthening training in app development and preparing students for the demands of an evolving workforce. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to creating opportunity and ensuring emerging talent is equipped to thrive.
APPRENTICESHIP:
A Strategic Talent Pipeline for Tech
IN 2024, NPower deepened its investment in apprenticeships as a proven model to connect motivated graduates with hands-on experience and long-term career acceleration. These programs go beyond placement, offering employers a way to strengthen their teams while creating sustainable pathways for rising talent. Whether entering a first role in IT or transitioning after military service, apprenticeships provide the skills, confidence, and workplace integration needed to thrive.
Companies like Citibank have demonstrated the impact of this approach, achieving a conversion rate of more than 90 percent from apprenticeship to full-time employment in veteran-focused programs. As NPower CEO Bertina Ceccarelli shared in an interview with Bloomberg Radio, “We find that strategies like mentoring or creative employment practices like apprenticeships can be really powerful ideas, particularly when they are tied to a core challenge a company is trying to solve.”
The model has proven equally valuable for small and midsize firms, where investing in apprenticeships helps deepen local talent pipelines and strengthen workplace culture. Looking ahead, NPower will continue to expand apprenticeship partnerships across regions and industries, ensuring more graduates can access meaningful careers and more employers can benefit from a workforce prepared to grow with them.
“NPower has not only changed my life, but has altered the lives of generations to come.”
“I joined the NPower family in 2022, and in just three years, the trajectory of my life has completely changed. What I thought was just another veteran training program turned out to be truly life-changing. With NPower’s preparation and support, I gained the confidence to secure a six-month apprenticeship with Citi in the Archive Engineering department. Since then, I have advanced two pay grades, earned five certifications, and received global recognition for my work in Agile adoption. NPower has not only changed my life but also my family’s future. In 2024, my daughter joined NPower Houston and quickly landed a position at Deloitte, securing her own career path. Today, I am a proud homeowner, thriving in my career at Citi, and a Certified Veteran Small Business owner. Thanks to NPower, I have the stability I once thought was out of reach—and a seat at the table I now share with others who will follow.”

NATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS:
Expanding Our Reach, Deepening Our Impact
IN 2024, NPower strengthened its national footprint through transformative partnerships with corporations, foundations, and government agencies. These collaborations allowed us to scale programs, pilot innovations, and reach thousands of learners with free, high-quality training that leads to family-sustaining tech careers.
Highlights include AT&T’s support for training 3,000 young adults in digital skills and Juniper Networks’ threeyear grant powering Tech Fundamentals, Cloud, and Cybersecurity programs alongside critical initiatives like NPowerMATCH and our internship pipeline. Ascendium Education Group generously supported NPower’s app development program and re-engagement efforts for students who paused or left college. Their investment also strengthens outreach to HBCUs and Minority-Serving Institutions, while enhancing alumni services such as mentorship, upskilling, and professional development. Comcast NBCUniversal invested in more than 5,000 students nationwide, while the Northrop Grumman Foundation funded SkillBridge expansion on the West Coast to support veterans and military spouses. Accenture and Citi Foundation advanced app development training and capacity-building, and ServiceNow’s partnership launched the RiseUp micro-certification program for alumni with an 80 percent graduation rate.
Public funding also played a pivotal role. The U.S. Department of Labor awarded NPower an Apprenticeship Building America grant to expand pre-apprenticeship programs and connect more students from underrepresented backgrounds to tech careers. Together with philanthropic leaders like Bank of America, MetLife Foundation, and the Annie E. Casey Foundation, these investments reflect a shared belief that the future of technology depends on opening doors for emerging talent.

Bridging Opportunity Through Service VOLUNTEERS
NPOWER’S WORK is powered by the generosity of volunteers who share their skills, time, and encouragement with our students. In 2024, professionals from leading corporations mentored, coached, and inspired learners through resume reviews, mock interviews, technical workshops, and career talks. Their support brings our curriculum to life and gives students the role models and networks that help translate classroom learning into career success.
Citi remains a cornerstone partner, with employees mentoring, leading technical events, and hosting career development sessions across multiple regions. “It is my pleasure to be on this journey helping shape the lives of NPower participants and support the communities they serve,” shared Holli Parrish, Assistant Program Manager for U.S. Volunteers. At AWS, volunteerism is woven into the company culture. Professionals delivered cloudfocused Tech Talks, offered resume feedback, and shared career insights that gave students a window into the industry’s future.
Volunteers from SIM National and the SIM Foundation also contributed their expertise and leadership. Whether in corporate boardrooms or virtual classrooms, the impact was the same: volunteers are more than helpers. They are catalysts, mentors, and trusted allies on the path to economic mobility.

FINANCIAL NOTE
Generous funding of $15 million in 2022 provided NPower with a unique opportunity to accelerate its expansion. These unrestricted dollars were strategically invested over 2023 and 2024 to scale programs, pilot new innovations, and strengthen student support services. As planned, this investment resulted in operating losses in those years, reflecting the intentional use of resources to drive growth rather than a decline in financial health. Looking ahead, NPower’s liquidity management practices ensure that financial assets are structured to meet obligations as they come due, while positioning the organization for long-term sustainability. This approach allows us to build on the momentum of past investments and continue expanding access to transformative tech careers.

15 Regional Impact Across the Country
IN 2024, NPower’s regional teams advanced the mission of transforming lives and bridging opportunity through strong local partnerships, targeted investments, and innovative programming. From closing the digital divide in Baltimore to expanding apprenticeships in Ohio and scaling cybersecurity training in Texas, each region played a vital role in driving national impact.
California Maryland Michigan
NPower California expanded its reach with a multi-year grant from the Employment Development Department’s Opportunity Young Adult Career Pathway Program, helping young adults access sustainable tech careers. Renewed partnerships with SAP, U.S. Bank Foundation, and the San Jose Sharks Foundation strengthened training delivery, while volunteers provided students with mentorship and career readiness support.
The Knott Foundation awarded NPower Maryland one of its inaugural multi-year grants, supporting Baltimore youth into tech careers. Partnerships with SNAP Education and AWS enhanced access for students receiving food assistance and low-income learners, including new laptops and digital tools to reduce the digital divide.
NPower Michigan advanced Detroit’s Community Tech Hub initiative with Human-I-T, giving residents laptops, internet, and digital literacy support.
Funding from Michigan Works!, GM, and the Rocket Community Fund strengthened training programs, including an Electric Vehicle Jobs Academy curriculum, and expanded employment opportunities for graduates.
Missouri New Jersey
In Missouri, support from the Chamber of Commerce apprenticeship grant and the St. Louis Development Corporation enabled more students to access handson learning. The launch of a Community Help Desk in recreation centers gave residents vital digital support while offering students real-world experience.
Generous funding from the Department of Labor and Workforce Development and support from the Ainslie and Prudential Foundations allowed more students in Newark to prepare for apprenticeships and full-time tech roles. These investments helped veterans and young adults gain both technical and professional skills to thrive.

As part of the $95 million onMain Hub in Dayton, NPower is shaping the state’s digital workforce for industries like aviation and defense.
NPower Texas served nearly 500 students across the state with renewed support from the Addy Foundation, Motorola Solutions Foundation, and Rainwater Charitable Foundation, as well as new investments from the Moody Foundation, Trellis Foundation, JPMorgan Chase, and the 80|20 Foundation. A Night of Inspiration, Connection, and Possibility
ON OCTOBER 29, 2024, more than 700 supporters gathered at Cipriani’s in New York City for NPower’s annual Gala. The evening was a celebration of lives transformed and opportunities created through our mission, raising more than $1.9 million to advance tech training and career pathways for untapped talent.
The program featured a fireside chat with Antonio Neri, President and CEO of Hewlett Packard Enterprise, who shared his perspective on innovation, hiring for potential, and the importance of investing in emerging talent. “Through partnerships with organizations like NPower, we aim to equip high-potential talent with essential tech skills, empowering them to thrive in an increasingly digital world,” Neri said. His remarks reinforced HPE’s ongoing commitment to building a stronger and more inclusive tech workforce.
The audience was also inspired by Alumni Speaker Landen Manuel, who credited NPower’s Tech Fundamentals and Cybersecurity programs with helping him secure his first internship and launch a career in technology. His story reflected the theme of the evening: the power of opportunity matched with preparation. The Gala was made possible by generous sponsors, including World Wide Technology, Accenture, Dell Technologies, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Bank of America, Cisco, Fortinet, Hitachi Vantara, NetApp, Pure Storage, SHI, and Supermicro, along with the dedication of the Gala Committee and NPower’s Board of Directors
