f you’re thinking about selling your home, it’s a good idea to get it into a show state before the for-sale sign is out front.

Everyone has heard that you only have one chance to make a first impression, and it’s true. Begin with a deep clean. Asian styles influence many aspects of home décor, but inspiration from the Far East is now being experienced on a whole new horizon: the bathtub. The ofuro, or Japanese soaking tub, is similar to a modern hot tub. However, these deep spaces — typically 27 inches deep — are free of chemicals and always filled with sparkling, fresh water. While the traditional material for an ofuro is Hinoki, an aromatic wood, red cedar and teak are other common options. But materials are becoming more diverse, with concrete, porcelain and steel soaking tubs offering appealing options.
