ON ARTIC TIDES In the first of four films, Benedict Cumberbatch visits the Lofoten Archipelago of Norway, located within the Arctic Circle, to examine the critical issue of plastic pollution in the Arctic, alongside environmental advocate and actress Valentina Gottlieb and local expert Carl Höjman. Ocean currents carrying plastic waste and “ghost nets” — thousands of kilometers of fishing nets that have been lost or abandoned — impact ecosystems across the globe, littering beaches and trapping and killing marine life. They are indicative of unsustainable fishing practices that add thousands of tons of plastic to the ocean each year.

DROWNING IN NOISE For the second film, Benedict Cumberbatch travels to the Norwegian town of Bodø, to see the impact of humanity on the sonic underwater environment. Captured on film within the ocean of the Arctic Circle, whales and other oceanic mammals use a variety of sounds for communication and sensation. The songs of whales, in particular, can travel vast distances — these haunting sounds have been studied and found to flow across entire ocean basins. Environmental advocate, actress, SEA BEYONDer and Goodwill Ambassador of the project Valentina Gottlieb speaks with Dr. Heike Vester, a biologist who specializes in social behavior and bio-acoustics of marine animals, to examine the impact of human activity on the rich acoustic environment of the ocean — the noise pollution of shipping, and seismic surveys in the search for natural oil and gas. It also details measures we can take to combat this disruption, and help maintain the delicate balance of marine life, sustaining species and their languages for future generations.

Prada Re-Nylon represents the Group’s commitment to creating products without using new resources by regenerating plastic waste sourced from the ocean and landfills.Through a process of de-polymerization, purification and transformation of the new polymers into threads, this material can be made into new nylon fabric.

GENTLE GIANTS For the third episode, Actress Sadie Sink travels to La Paz, Mexico and the Pacific Ocean to discover the whale shark. Gentle giants, whale sharks are the world’s largest fish. Their roles as “gardeners of the ocean” is derived from their diet of plankton and algae. By consuming enormous quantities to fuel their vast size, in turn, they aid marine biology by controlling these plant levels; excessive amounts of either would decrease sunlight and oxygen in the surrounding ocean, disrupting the natural ecosystem. But today these essential animals are under threat, as marine biologist, SEA BEYONDer and Goodwill Ambassador of the project Giovanni Chimienti and whale shark specialist Alberto Garcia Baciero discuss. Whale shark populations are impacted by several factors, including overfishing, where they are often accidentally caught, and collisions with vessels while feeding near the surface. They can also be harmed by unsustainable tourism practices. A major problem is ocean pollution, which affects both the animals themselves and the plankton that is their main source of sustenance.

FORGOTTEN FORESTS In the final installation of this four-part film series, created in collaboration with Prada and storytelling partner National Geographic CreativeWorks, actress Sadie Sink introduces us to the Great Kelp Highway of Northern and Central America. A vital marine ecosystem, the Great Kelp Highway denotes a stretch of subterranean forests of kelp that runs for thousands of miles along the pacific coasts of the Americas.

The richness and biodiversity of the wildlife of the Great Kelp Highway—edible fish, shellfish, marine mammals, birds and seaweed—has sustained not only life within its waters, but through centuries of fishing, humankind as well. Sadie Sink, marine biologist, SEA BEYONDer and Goodwill Ambassador of the project Giovanni Chimienti and scientist Rodrigo Beas, explore the Great Kelp Highway in the waters of Islas Coronado, off the northwest coast of the Mexican state of Baja California. First-hand, they witness how rising ocean temperatures, near-extinction of species, overfishing and global pollution have all affected the kelp forests – a delicate habitat, now endangered.

Hayes: About three years ago I heard about an arts festival taking place in the Southeast of Ireland called Waterford Walls. Waterford is a city in the southern part of Ireland founded by the Vikings around 914AD. I travelled down from Dublin to have a look at what was going on and was so impressed by the artwork that I went back the next two years to photograph the festival. Locals give over a wall of their property for the artists to create their art. It has become a massive event with some of the worlds best street artists coming each year to create massive, colorful, stunning artworks. The city is transformed into one large canvas.

I’m a street photographer at heart, so walking around Dublin, I began to notice the great street art that was on my own doorstep. From the colorful walls of Liberty Lane to the surroundings of Dalymount Park, the home of Bohemians football club. While the Waterford Walls festival is an organized event, the art I was seeing around Dublin was more reminiscent of the type I had seen on TV or in magazines. Street art is transient; it is constantly changing. A piece of art gets created and eventually gets painted over and eventually another work takes its place. I love that about street art!

NowVIZ: This particular series of work is raw and gritty, it takes the viewer into another world. When and where did you begin to shoot these images?

NowVIZ: Would you talk about your process and possibly how or what seems to inspire or gravitate you to a certain project?

Hayes: In Dublin in particular there is a constant battle between the street artists and the local city council. In some cases, the artists have received fines or had legal proceedings brought against them.

There is an ongoing movement called “The Grey Walls Project” that is aiming to bring color to the grey walls of Dublin. To essentially bring color to the city of Dublin. It looks like this might actually happen as there are plans in motion to hold a Waterford Walls type festival in the capital in the future. This will give local artists like Subset, Shane Sutton and Novice Jess the opportunity to showcase their work without the fear of the wrath of the council.

NowVIZ: Are there difficult or challenging conditions of any kind when you are shooting? What do you find is your toughest obstacle?

Hayes: Probably the most challenging part of shooting street art is getting shots of the art actually being created.

Street artists are by their nature a secretive bunch. Most of the work is done away from prying eyes, so at night or in out of the way lanes and such.

Gaining the trust of a street artist takes a lot of work. They can be very suspicious of someone wielding a camera. That’s why an organized festival presents a perfect opportunity to shoot the work as it’s being created. I suppose there’s a reason nobody sees a Banksy being created, eh?

NowVIZ: What is your passion when you’re not behind the camera?

Hayes: I have a passion for the arts of all kinds—live music, theatre, the cinema. And with the weather improving I’ll get out more to the country side and dip in the freezing Irish Sea. Also my little dog Oscar keeps me busy. I live close enough to the Guinness brewery to be able to smell the hops, so a few sociable pints of Guinness is something I enjoy.

NowVIZ: What motivates you to get started in the mornings?

Hayes: A coffee from Proper Order Coffee Company on Smithfield Square (best coffee in the city.) Feed and walk Oscar and then it’s out to shoot the streets.

I teach beginners digital photography and also run street photography workshops. I’m always on the lookout for new and interesting places and things to bring people in to experience Dublin and teach them the joys of seeing life through the lens.

Having both the talent to act and play music at a professional level takes a huge infusion of originality, ingenuity, and imagination. And it seems that Keenan Tracey, a Canadian actor and musician, has what it takes to incorporate that mix into a cocktail for success.

Originally from Vancouver, British Columbia, Keenan spent most of his early life traveling and living with his actor father, Ian Tracey. Ian’s work led him around the world, living in South Africa, Israel, Egypt, Amsterdam, and for Keenan it was an early introduction to the industry watching his father on set. Ian, known for his roles as detective Mick Leary in Da Vinci’s Inquest and as Jimmy Reardon in Intelligence, both popular Canadian crime dramas, along with feature film credits that include, Prozac Nation, Owning Mahoney, with Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Kevin Costner’s western Open Range, has led a highly accomplished career. And with that success it seems he has inspired and been a motivation for his son.

This creative overload has become part of Keenan’s DNA and kickstarted his acting career at 17. His early roles include guest starring in Fringe, Supernatural, and Arctic Air, in which he was nominated for a Union of British Columbia Performers Award (UBCP) in the category of Best Newcomer.

He then recurred largely in Bates Motel as Gunnar, played Sterling in The 100, the role of Ben Lowry in The Returned, and Billy in, Rogue. Also to his credit he starred as Cam McDermott in the 2021 TV series Day of the Dead, and has played roles in such movies as the thriller Polaroid, Text to Kill, and Extracurricular. Additionally, he was nominated for a Leo Award as Best Supporting Actor for his role as Tripp Flynn in The Hunters.

Aside from his acting career, music has also been a big part of Keenan’s lifestyle. Playing guitar, piano, drums, and vocals, he plays and collaborates with other artists on the scene and loves the vibe playing in front of a crowd.

And while acting and music are his way of life that motivate his path forward, his current obsession seems to be his Italian greyhound sweetly named, “RoadHouse.” This little girl lovingly called, “Roadie” has that same independent and care-free attitude Keenan fills a room with. She makes him smile the minute she jumps in his arms and her curiosity as he watches her explore a new environment makes him laugh.

Life is good and with new ventures in the works, Keenan keeps mixing those creative juices and changing to fit the part. Keep an eye out for his next role, it’ll definitely be worth checking out.

NowVIZ: Would you talk about your start in Vancouver, Canada and how your acting career began?

Tracey: I grew up going to the set with my dad. I’d either run lines with him between scenes or just hang out and watch from a quiet corner somewhere. The set environment has always felt like home to me. It wasn’t until I was a teenager that I actually decided to get an agent and start auditioning myself. Being on set to this day is one of my favorite places in the world to be. It’s like a beehive; functioning chaos. I love it.

NowVIZ: Early in your career roles included guest starring in Fringe, Supernatural, and Arctic Air, in which you were nominated for a UBCP Award in the category of Best Newcomer.

Then you landed recurring roles in Bates Motel, The 100, The Returned and Rogue. and starred in the series, Day of the Dead. You were nominated for a Leo Award as Best Supporting Actor for your supporting lead role in The Hunters, and lead other movies such as the thriller Polaroid. Will you talk about your journey, some favorite moments, and any upcomiing projects?

Tracey: Since I started acting my career has consisted of a pretty even mix of playing either the good guy or the really REALLY bad guy. I personally like it when it’s either a mix of the two, or the good guy until a twist in the end.

And I have two film projects that are set to release soon. The first is a psychological thriller called The Girl in the Attic and the second is what I like to describe as a psychedelic romance called The Bearded Girl. Both films will highlight the two character mixes I like!

NowVIZ: You are multitalented in the respect you are also a seasoned musician! Will you talk about your music life, how it started, along with some highlights?

Tracey: I’ve been playing music since I was a kid. My dad always had an array of instruments around the house and we were always encouraged to play. I started playing guitar and piano when I was quite young. He would show me just enough to get started and then I continued on to teach myself. And there was never pressure to play, but if you’d sit across the room from a guitar long enough you would start to hear it talking at you, just asking for you to play it!

Eventually music has become that space where I have my own artistic control. I’ve been writing and producing music under my own artist title named, Still Eye. My latest release “Heart of Mine” is out now on all platforms.

“I have two film projects set to release soon, the first is a psychological thriller called “The Girl in the Attic” and the second is what I like to describe as a psychedelic romance called “The Bearded Girl”.

NowVIZ: One of the latest singles with musician, Peter Press Lee, “On The Run” is a moody and soulful song!

Will you talk about the collaboration and vision through both the song and video?

Tracey: This one was started by Peter and Jarret Holmes. One night while they were working on it, out of the blue, Jarret gave me a call to come over to the studio and give some thoughts on the chorus.

He happens to live just down the street, so I walked over and a couple hours later we had the chorus down!

We added a guitar line, some backup vocals, and at some point we just high fived and said that’s it. Both Peter and Jarret are good friends and we continue to create sounds for other projects as well as our own.

NowVIZ:Every top talent seems to have or has had a mentor, friend, someone in their corner to offer guidance. We wondered if you do and how have they helped?

Tracey: I’ve had a handful of mentors in different creative areas and when it comes to film I immediately think of my old man. Having the opportunity to be around him for so long it’s hard not to. Also when I was a kid watching guys like, Brian Markinson or Vincent Gale who were always generous when it came to answering any questions I’d have about the industry. And they were the examples of the skill and demeanour I respect.

When it comes to music, there are a few people I’ve crossed paths with that really stand out, mark in my memory, and what I consider a positive turning point. From the moment I set foot in the studio with Chin Injeti it was clear to me how vast his understanding of music is and his experience with it. It was obvious how much there was to learn. We continue to make music and hope we always will. He’s become one of my best friends and will forever be someone I will look up to musically and otherwise.

Another person who became a great friend of mine through music is Luca Buccelatti. We met while I was living in LA and started making music together some years ago. He’s a dude who has been around music his whole life and is never not making it. I appreciate his outlook on making music and it’s been helpful on how I approach my own work.

NowVIZ: There’s a rumor you’re into motorcycles?

Will you talk about your interest and what is your ride of choice?

Tracey: I have always loved motorcycles. I’ve basically been riding since I was legally allowed to. It’s the best feeling ever. Nothing makes me feel more focused. I’m currently riding a Triumph Thruxton I’ve had for over ten years.

Tracey: That I may be pleasantly surprised. I really like playing things by ear and seeing what the day turns into. What could happen before your head hits the pillow and what potentially could happen you might not ever expect?

NowVIZ: What is your passion or interest outside of acting and music?

Tracey: Over the last five years I’ve started to do some sculpting. I started with small things at first.

The majority of what I’m making now are life-size human statues. I like to make them with the likeness of actual people, typically good friends of mine.

NowVIZ: Anything upcoming in your world you’d like to tell us?!

Tracey: I will always be doing something creative.

It’s the one thing I will never stop doing. I look forward to producing more work and hopefully in ways you wouldn’t expect.

Few players in the world can claim to have beaten 24-time Grand Slam champion, Novak Djokovic. Fewer still can claim to have beaten him twice. But that’s exactly what world number 32, Alejandro Tabilo Álvarez did at the recent 2025 Monte Carlo Masters. Tabilo defeated the Serbian tennis ace 6–3, 6–4, marking his second consecutive win against Djokovic since the 2024 Italian Open. It was an astonishing win, though Tabilo claimed his secret was the lack of mental pressure he put on himself. He told media at the time that: “We (he and his coach) know how to play him. We already beat him once... so I was a little bit looser thanks to that.”

Born on 2 June 1997, in Toronto to Chilean parents, Tabilo began playing tennis as a child. Showing great promise throughout his youth, he turned professional in 2015. The following year the young player decided to fully embrace his heritage and relocated to Santiago where he began representing Chile in international tennis.

Over the next few years, he steadily climbed the ATP rankings, breaking into the top 200 in 2020 as the no. 172 in the world.

In 2022, Tabilo reached his first ATP final at the Córdoba Open in Argentina.

Although he lost to the sixth-seeded Spanish player Albert Ramos Viñolas, it was clear that the young Chilean was becoming a player to watch.

Finally, in 2024, Tabilo had his breakthrough. That year, he was acknowledged as a nominee for Most Improved Player at the 2024 ATP Awards. He clinched his first ATP title at the Auckland Classic. The win was followed by a historic victory on grass at the Mallorca Championships, where he became the first Chilean to win an ATP title on that surface. His growing achievements continued with a semifinal appearance at the Italian Open, which included his memorable defeat of Djokovic, and a third-round appearance at Wimbledon 2024. That July, Tabilo reached a career-high ranking of world No. 19, establishing himself as Chile’s top-ranked player—an honor he still proudly holds today.

This last year has brought both challenges and successes, but Tabilo has continued to hone the left-handed play and two-handed backhand that he has become known for. His natural fluidity on the court, along with a strong and aggressive serve has helped develop his confidence. Indeed, it was his serve that Tabilo credits for his stunning win against Djokovic in Monte Carlo. “Thankfully I served well today,” he told reporters, “and it helped me a lot.” Though he added: “It was an unreal match.”

But while it might have felt unreal at the time, beating top-tier players like the Serbian superstar is, in fact, part of Tabilo’s current reality. And more than anything, it demonstrates that the Chilean No. 1 is ready to continue his ascent and make a significant impact on the international tennis stage.

NowVIZ: In 2024, you had a breakout year, achieving a career-high ranking of No. 19. You are also the No.1-ranked Chilean player, and were nominated for ATP 2024 Most Improved Player of the Year. You won your first two ATP singles titles at the ASB Classic in Auckland and the Mallorca Championships, reached your first Grand Slam third round at Wimbledon, and reached an ATP Masters 1000 semifinal at the Italian Open where you eliminated No.1-ranked Novak Djokovic in straight sets! Incredible! How do you think each of these accomplishments will help you continue to improve and progress in your career?

Tabilo: Yeah, last year was incredible.

I never would have dreamt of having a year like that. But a few years ago I got to the finals of my first ATP tournament, and ever since then it’s been the motivation to get back to that stage again. Then, after winning my first title in Auckland January 2024, I was just so happy that I started working even harder to be able to get those opportunities again. I think my breakout was when I beat Novak in Rome. And after that, I became so much more confident. I reached the semifinals, and felt like all the hard work was finally starting to pay off. And it also showed I can play at that level.

NowVIZ: Would you tell us about growing up in Toronto, Canada, and how you began the journey of becoming one of the top pro tennis players on the tour?

Tabilo: I was born in Toronto, and when I was very little, my brother used to play tennis. He kind of inspired me and then I started playing tennis soon after that. Then as I was growing up, I started playing tournaments in Canada. As I got better, at 13, I moved to Florida to train. Since then - it’s been a tough ride, but I’ve learned a lot, and loved every single part of it.

NowVIZ: Every top athlete seems to have or has had a mentor, friend, or someone in their corner to offer guidance. We wondered if you do and, if so, how have they helped?

Tabilo: Right now, I would say my girlfriend, who has been with me from the start, and when I began doing really, really well. She’s been there through those ups and downs, makes sure I’m following my diet and meal plans, and travels most weeks to come see me. It’s been a lot of sacrifice on her part.

But all of what she does really helps me a lot. Just having someone there who’s able to share all this with is nice and I’m just so glad I have her by my side.

NowVIZ: How do you fuel your body nutritionally throughout the season? Is there a specific diet or regime you follow?

Tabilo: Yeah, I mean, I have a nutritionist that I go to every time I’m in Chile. My physio and my personal trainer also look at everything I eat when we travel. They make sure I take my protein shakes after practice. For main meals I normally stick to the basics, like rice, chicken, a lot of veggies. It’s not much variety, that means when traveling, I’m eating the same thing so I don’t get any type of sickness.

My team is really strict on that, making sure I get the right amount of carbs and protein.

NowVIZ: What is your motivation to get up every day? What is your motivation to get on the court every day?

Tabilo: Tennis-wise, we set specific goals, mainly to do with the rankings. Last year we made it to the top 20, so I would love to get back to that and go even higher. Right now, I’m just trying to focus on that. Trying to work every day just to get that ranking higher. I haven’t had much success in the Grand Slams, so I want to get physically fit so I can play those five-setters and have a good opportunity there. Outside of tennis, I like having that motivation to think about the future. And when that time comes for my future kids or a future family, I want to be there for them and make sure they always have everything they need.

NowVIZ: What is your passion or interest outside of tennis?

Tabilo: Normally, when we’re at tournaments I go back to the hotel to rest and watch a little Netflix. But when I’m in Santiago, I try to do a lot of stuff with friends. Padel has become pretty big in Chile, so I try to go out and play with my girlfriend. We also love going to different restaurants and trying out new foods, because when we’re traveling, I’m on such a strict diet. So when we’re home we like to get out to see and try different cultures and culinary experiences. We also like to do a little sightseeing. We keep things simple.

Big Special is an amazing duo from Birmingham in the UK. I first heard them when I saw the legend John Grant in Dublin. Stunning live performance. Junior Brother is an Alt folk singer from Co. Kerry. So original. Bonny Light Horseman, again leaning to that Alt country/folk vibe. So, so good.

And really loving the new music from The Cure. They’re sounding as good as ever. Paul Heaton is still knocking it out of the park both live and on record. One of the greatest song writers of our time. Really looking forward to seeing Queens of the Stone Age later in the year. Should be a great gig. So yeah, pretty varied music listening going on here!!

It’s been a little different lately. When I was living here in the States, I listened to a lot of rap, hip hop, and stuff like that. But being in Chile, I’ve been listening to a lot more Spanish music, like urban styles, not much reggaeton, but with a lot more beats. So it’s nice.

I usually don’t listen to a lot of music, but I’ve been changing. I listen to a little bit of everything.
