The Suzhou Museum of Contemporary Art (Suzhou MoCA), designed

by BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group), is nearing completion. Commissioned by Suzhou Harmony Development Group, the 60,000-square-meter museum is positioned along the Jinji Lake waterfront in Suzhou as a major new venue for contemporary art, design, and public life in China. Conceived as a village of 12 pavilions beneath a continuous, ribbon-like roof, the architecture offers a modern interpretation of the classical garden elements, particularly the “lang,” (meaning covered corridor), that have defined the city’s landscape for centuries.

Visitors can follow a continuous path through the museum’s interior, or wander into one of those it feeds into.

The result is a manmade maze of plants and artworks to get lost within.

According to the studio, the architecture of the museum reinterprets “lang” – a long, sheltered corridor connecting various pavilions commonly seen in centuries-old Suzhou gardens.

“Weaving between the Ferris wheel legs, the museum branches out like a rhizome, connecting the city to the lake,” says Bjarke Ingels, Founder and Creative Director, BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group.

The museum’s architecture is a striking blend of local tradition and modern form. Ten interconnected pavilions are unified beneath a roof whose gentle, conical undulations recall the silhouette of tiled eaves. The individual pavilions are woven together by glazed galleries and porticoes, creating what BIG founder Bjarke Ingels describes as a “Chinese knot” of courtyards and exhibition spaces. Clad in rippled and curved glass and warm-toned stainless steel, the façades actively blur the boundaries between the architecture and the surrounding water and gardens. From above, particularly from the nearby Suzhou Ferris wheel, the stainless roof tiles form a distinctive “fifth facade,” branching out like a rhizome to connect the city and the lake.

The museum is located along the Jinji Lake waterfront in Suzhou.

Ahead of its official opening in 2026, the museum will debut with the exhibition Materialism, curated by BIG itself. This exhibition invites visitors on a material odyssey that begins with stone and concludes with recyclate, exploring how materials like earth, metal, wood, and plastic shape the firm’s architecture. The entire experience is designed to be highly tactile: the seating throughout the galleries is made of the very substances on display, and section plaques are crafted from their corresponding mediums, such as yellow rust stone, rammed earth, and terrazzo. The exhibition features large-scale mock-ups and models of 20 BIG projects, including the studio’s Copenhagen headquarters and Google Bay View, creating a comprehensive journey through texture and form.

Having worked with over eighty Olympic athletes, Winter Olympians are built to be a different breed. They are a tight knit group of highly talented individuals from one sport to the next.

The no fear level runs high and extreme weather conditions can make competitions look absolutely duaunting.

Venues tend to be in remote locations and a hard core fan base keeps the excitement high. Chasing snow is their life.

She was in a league of her own during the 2018 Olympics as the only woman to ever land “The Daddy,” a quadruple-twisting backflip.

In 2024, Alex became the first skier—male or female—to win every single contest in a freeski halfpipe season. He followed it up in 2025 with his third FIS Crystal Globe (season title) as the halfpipe overall champion.

With no snow in the summer, we decided to truck out to Utah’s Bonneville Salt Flats. It was a beautiful answer to an incredible shoot. It’s definitely become one of my favorite locations.

We traveled to Grand Forks, North Dakota, to work with the girls and as we got off the plane we hit sub-zero temperatures and brutal winds. Probably one of the coldest locations we’ve been, but at least we worked indoors!

Winter Olympic sports can be unfamiliar to people that don’t live in cold areas, but I’ve always gravitated to them and loved watching them.

I actually grew up in a winter sports family; my dad was a ski patrol man after work, and my mom named me after a gold medal skier, Andrea Mead Lawrence.

Vancouver Olympics 2010, Demong won gold in the 10 km individual large hill and was the first American to win an Olympic gold medal in a nordic event. He is an American inspiration and a true warrior in the sport.

Four Branches Bourbon: Four Veterans, One Mission What started out as a desire to acquire a single barrel of bourbon to remember a fallen friend and Marine and raise a glass in his honor resulted in the creation of a bourbon company steeped deep in American patriotic pride.

Four Branches Bourbon is the only spirit company founded by four veterans, one from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines. The mission is to deliver exceptional bourbon in honor of the sacrifices made by all those who serve in the shadows and share their inspiring stories.

Together, the four founders have more than 100 years of combined military experience.

Alfredo “Rick” Franco is a Virginia Military Institute (VMI) graduate, former Marine Infantry Officer and former CIA Senior Contractor. Mike Trott is a U.S. Air Force veteran and former CIA officer. Harold Underdown is a former Navy SEAL and retired Command Master Chief. And Robert “RJ” Casey is a former Army Special Forces and currently serves in the Air Force Special Operations. Their paths had crossed many times over the years, but it wasn’t until Rick had a lightbulb moment that the four officially came together to create Four Branches.

Franco’s VMI classmate and eventual CIA colleague, Greg Wright Jr., died in service overseas and Rick repatriated Greg to his family. He shared that Greg was a hero, helping to save others’ lives but lost his. It was through processing this that Rick came up with the idea to blend a barrel of bourbon as a way to honor Greg and all of the other unsung heroes in our lives. The founders decided this message of honoring those who are important in our lives was not just for them but a message that others would want to share. Thus, they moved forward to create a business, not just a single barrel.

The founders enlisted the help of bourbon industry veterans to craft the best bourbon.

The Founders Blend is the first bourbon that was released, and it has won several awards at national spirits competitions. In 2024, it won a Gold Medal in the Ascot Awards Competition and a Double Gold Medal at the prestigious SIP Awards. Since that inaugural release, several limited-editions have also been created, including The Continental to celebrate the 250th anniversaries of the U.S. Army, Navy, and Marines.

Giving back is another big part of Four Branches’ mission. Since launching in May 2023, Four Branches has helped raise more than $500,000 for national and local veterans organizations. As veterans, the founders are very cognizant of the impact of selling alcohol and are working to change the narrative around drinking. Bourbon is often used to pay tribute, share a quiet moment, tell stories, and bring people together. The trademarked taglines represent these ideas - “Serve Honorably. Drink Honorably” and “Sip to Remember” don’t drink to forget.

In keeping with the brand, the Founders Blend is a 4-grain blend at 96 proof, with an incredibly smooth taste of hazelnut, maple, and cinnamon-infused orange, and a long creamy finish with notes of vanilla. It is available to be shipped to 41 states and in-stores in seven states.

Rick: It wasn’t a single moment, but a series of events that brought us here.

I knew I wanted to honor Greg and the other men—the stars on the wall at the CIA headquarters—who gave their last full measure for our country, quietly and in the shadows. As we were doing our due diligence and trying to figure out how to build this the right way, we also lost friends to their own battles.

That’s when we had a crisis of conscience. We realized we needed to be bigger than honoring one friend or one unit. We needed to honor all of them by confronting a hard truth: alcohol can play a significant role in moments that become fatal. That was the moment we decided—both as a company and a brand—to change the message. Don’t drink to forget. “Sip to remember.”

Mike, how does the unique blend of the founders’ backgrounds shape the identity, discipline, and ethos of Four Branches?

Mike: Our common yet different military backgrounds and experiences are what we believe make us not only different as an American whiskey, but as a brand and business too. We each connect to our consumers and audience in different ways. The very intent of our brand message is one of unity and sending a message that when we work together on a common goal, we’re stronger together and can be more successful. Our military has demonstrated that very ethos over the years with our ability to bring different forces, equipment, and skills together to accomplish a mission. We have taken that very same approach with Four Branches Bourbon.

Mike, what has been the steepest learning curve, and what did your military and intelligence training prepare you for in unexpected ways?

Mike: Building a new brand from scratch requires a lot of creative efforts and time. I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but to build a brand that appeals to consumers enough to want them to learn more, buy your product, and help spread the message is tougher than I imagined. Adding a product that has so many restrictions and limitations for selling adds to daily obstacles. And without great distribution support, it’s a tough uphill climb, and some days, it’s a real battle.

Many of us in the military often subscribe to a quote by Benjamin Franklin, “Failing to prepare, is preparing to fail.” If I learned nothing else from my time in the Air Force and CIA, it’s research, plan, and plan some more, assemble the best team you can get, make sure you know what you’ll need to be successful, identify the obstacles, and execute with a degree of determination like your life depended on it. Like our partner and retired Navy Seal, Harold, said from the beginning, “this is a no fail mission.”

Rick, can you describe the moment when the emotional/personal tribute you wanted to make to Greg Wright Jr. turned into wanting to create a larger brand?

“Serve Honorably, Drink Honorably”

Rick, as the spirit/whiskey landscape shifts and evolves how are you approaching growing Four Branches and staying authentic?

Rick: Very simply, by staying true to our messages of Serve Honorably, Drink Honorably, and Sipping to Remember. We’ll pivot where needed, but by remaining grounded in who we are and what we believe as a company, we’ll weather the shifting storms and the changing landscape of the industry.

RJ, what excites you most about the future of the company?

RJ: First, between donating special bottles for auction and cutting checks, Four Branches Bourbon, with only a couple years on the market, has raised over half a million dollars for veterans, first responders, and their families through 501(c) (3) non-profit organizations. So I’m really excited to be able to increase that exponentially to help more of those communities. Second, I’m excited to keep creating. Our Founders Blend is about to undergo a minor change. That is our foundational expression, so I can’t wait to share that with everyone. We are also trying to do one limited time offer (LTO) a year and those expressions will honor the history of some of the most important eras and icons of the special operations and intelligence communities. We’re excited to share all of that history and those expressions with the world.

Harold, how do you see this philanthropic component evolving as the brand continues to grow?

Harold: I feel strongly that we have been very successful with regards to seeking out organizations that serve veterans across the board. Our dedication to the bourbon-making process and only filling our bottles with quality bourbon is paramount to our mission statement to honor our fallen and to serve our active and reserve components. It is very important to us to create a bourbon that is worthy of “Sipping to Remember” and not drinking to forget.

Can you share a moment when someone outside your circle connected with the mission in a way that surprised or moved you?

Mike: Not long after launching our brand we were contacted by a retired U.S Navy Officer and an administrator for a scholarship program designed for children of veterans. He asked us, as founders from four branches of the military, would we volunteer our time to review the applications and help select the deserving recipients for their scholarships. We humbly agreed. This is just one example of the unique experiences we’ve had and people we’ve met over the past few years since launching Four Branches Bourbon.

Harold: I was contacted through our website that a person was looking for a special gift for their husband, who had just learned through a DNA test that their father served in Vietnam. The father was my Dad’s youngest brother. Wow, I did not hesitate to reach out and connect the dots. The conversation was unbelievable and I signed and sent him a bottle of Four Branches Bourbon to celebrate our overdue connection. I look forward to meeting him face-to-face, hopefully in the near future. I need a “Sip to Remember” for sure.

Rick: Shortly after we were featured on Fox News for National Bourbon Day, a Gold Star mother reached out to us. She shared how deeply our message resonated with her and said she was proud of the meaning behind our brand. She had recently lost her son, a Sergeant in the Army, in a tragic helicopter crash.

She told us he loved bourbon and loved serving his country, and that one of her regrets was never getting the chance to share a pour with him. Hearing stories like hers is truly humbling. And we hear similar stories often—people connecting emotionally with our message and what our brand stands for.

RJ: Wow! There’s countless examples of strangers telling us what impact our messaging had on their brother or relative who was having a hard time. When relatives tell an individual they drink too much, that veteran, first responder, or whoever gets mad, because the person talking to them couldn’t understand what they’ve gone through. But when someone who’s also a first responder and a veteran builds their brand around “Drink Honorably,” it can change their perspective. We said at the beginning of this adventure, if we can just break even and save one life, it will be worth it…and it’s been an honor.

What impact do you hope the Four Branches story leaves on future generations of veteran and bourbon enthusiasts?

Mike: Our greatest mission is to modify the narrative of veterans and alcohol with our brand messages of “Drink Honorably” and “Sip to Remember,” never drink to forget. Also, demonstrate to aging and veterans in transition, like we are, that it’s never too late to band together with other veterans for a common goal and find a new mission in life.

Harold: I pray for our orange juice business. This is what my Mom calls our bourbon. I know that with hard work and persistent boots on the ground, we will be very successful. Our story of service to the country and transitioning to other sectors and, most importantly, having a purpose will drive people and organizations to partner with our brand.

Rick: To change the narrative—shifting from drinking to forget, to sipping to remember and honoring the moments in life we can be grateful for. Our story of service and our dedication to our country and to fellow veterans is meant to inspire. We hope it encourages others to find a new mission and purpose beyond their time in uniform. We also want to remind those still serving that this brand was built on the shoulders of giants who came before us. We’re simply here to honor their memories and create new ones. To show that you can drive on, move forward after service, and continue to find new ways to serve. That is the message—and the legacy—we hope to leave.

RJ: Primarily, with all the self medication and veteran suicide, I hope our community(s) listens, slow it down a little, not just the bad, but also the good and really savor our 4-grain bourbon. Secondly, we really had no idea what we were getting into! So, at our age, it’s nice to demonstrate that you can choose your own adventure…anytime, anywhere, in any industry. Thirdly, give back, whatever you decide. It doesn’t always have to be money, it could be volunteering, mentoring, but be thankful, grateful, and always give back somehow. It’s not really talked about, but doing good in the world when you can, where you can, is good for the soul.

“Team Revolut” debuts January 2026, and is set to compete in its first race in March at Melbourne, Australia.

The R26 Concept, showcases the brand’s new visual identity.

Chief Creative Officer Massimo Frascella described the F1 project as a “pioneer for the new brand identity,” based on principles of being “clear, technical, intelligent, and emotional.”

The car’s design features minimalist graphic surfaces and a color palette of titanium, carbon black, and the newly introduced shade “Audi Lava Red.” The brand will also selectively use red rings for its F1 presence.

Another key highlight with the car is the dramatic “cut” across the fuselage between the titanium color and Lava Red, which draws eyes towards the rear of the car and new power unit that drives the R26. While the visuals of the car are currently minimalistic, naturally the car will come with sponsorship logos further down the line: as of time of writing, Audi is sponsored by Revolut, adidas, and bp.

The 2026 F1 grid is set for an exciting season.

Audi—which will race under the team name Revolut—acquired the Sauber Group for its entry and will be led by Mattia Binotto (formerly of Ferrari) and Jonathan Wheatley (formerly of Red Bull), with drivers Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto.

The launch will coincide with F1’s new regulations mandating sustainable fuels and an electric power share of almost 50%. CEO Gernot Döllner positioned the move as the “next chapter in the company’s renewal” and a “catalyst for the change towards a leaner, faster, and more innovative Audi.”

“I was hugely encouraged by what I found, which was a much younger team than I expected with a more open mind than I expected that already had started the journey towards becoming a competitive F1 team rather than the achievement of getting two cars to a race every Sunday,” said Jonathan Wheatley Audi’s new F1 Team Principal.

Audi intends to kick off their F1 journey with intent and focus.

The German automaker has been preparing for their entry for years, with strategies and technical preparations starting nearly three years ago.

“We are not entering Formula 1 just to be there.

We want to win,” stated the CEO. Döllner also outlined an ambitious yet realistic roadmap, aiming to “fight for the World Championship title” by 2030. CFO Jürgen Rittersberger noted the entry “makes perfect sense for Audi – also economically,” citing the F1 cost cap and the chance to attract new, younger customer groups.

Every superhero has an origin story, one that shows how even the worst moments can set the course for something great. For Connecticut-born Lindsey Jacobellis, the most decorated snowboard cross athlete of all time, that moment came at age 11. When a chimney fire destroyed her family’s sports equipment, including all of her skiing gear, her parents couldn’t replace everything at once. So Jacobellis swapped skis for a single snowboard—a decision that put the eager young athlete back on the snow and, more than that, on course for an extraordinary career.

Jacobellis’ athletic ability had long been evident. Raised alongside her older brother Ben, five years her senior, she was encouraged to play a wide range of sports, particularly skiing and other winter pursuits. Keeping pace with her father and brother on the slopes helped forge the grit and courage that would later define her as a professional athlete.

“I was a weekend warrior with my family,” Jacobellis told New York Magazine. “Always chasing my older brother, my dad, and his friends down the mountain—and if I wanted to ski with them, I had to not be afraid to go fast.”

Her brother’s own interest in snowboarding also played a part in turning her from skier to shredder, and saw her competing—and winning—from a young age. Later, as the only girl competing in snowboard cross at her high school in Vermont, her determination was further honed as she felt she had to continually prove herself against boys who certainly didn’t want to be beaten by a girl!

The year she graduated, 17-year-old Lindsay Jacobellis won bronze in slopestyle at the 2003 Winter X Games as a member of the US Snowboarding Team. From there, her focus shifted to the 2006 Turin Winter Games, where she arrived as a favorite to win. However, it was not to be. A dramatic fall while leading the snowboard cross final cost her the Olympic gold. Though she did pick up silver, missing out on gold was a difficult moment. However, in true form, rather than letting it define her negatively, Jacobellis later used the experience as a source of deep reflection and growth in her 2023 best-selling book, Unforgiving: Lessons from the Fall.

Neither did the 2006 Olympics incident slow her momentum. Over the following years, Jacobellis dominated the sport, claiming gold at the Winter X Games in 2008, 2009, and 2010, among many other podium finishes.

Still, snowboarding is not for the faint of heart, and injuries are inevitable. After tearing her ACL in 2012, she found the mental and emotional recovery as challenging as the physical one.

“It breaks you down mentally,” she told NOWVIZ. “You begin to question yourself—who am I if I’m not doing this?”

However, by 2014, after nearly two years off the snow, the resilient Jacobellis was back leading the events and winning medals. At the Winter X Games that year, 2015, and 2016, she took gold again, and today, she stands as the most successful female athlete in Winter X Games history, with 10 gold medals to her name.

World Championship success followed, including individual golds at the 2015 and 2017 FIS World Championships, along with additional medals in team and mixed team events. Then, at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, Jacobellis won America’s first gold of the Games in the women’s snowboard cross, and—because, heck, why not?!—a further gold with Nick Baumgartner for the Mixed Team Snowboard Cross.

The wins have continued to rack up, but for Jacobellis, success isn’t all about medals. This incredible athlete has used her platform to give back, supporting causes close to her heart, including breast cancer awareness and animal welfare. She is also a mentor and leader with Super Girl Snow Pro, helping open doors for the next generation of female snowboarders, many of whom she now competes alongside at the highest level.

“It’s incredibly important to lay the foundation for the future of women’s snowboarding,” Jacobellis has said of her work with the program, which she credits with empowering young women athletes by bringing professionals and amateurs together.

And so, after a career defined by grit, gumption, and longevity, perhaps this great American athlete’s legacy is not solely the titles she’s won—but the path she’s helped carve for those who follow.

Jacobellis will enjoy her sixth Winter Games from the TV booth. She decided to skip a run for yet another Olympics and instead serve as an analyst for snowboard cross on NBC’s announcing team in Italy.

NOWVIZ: Your snowboard journey began over 20 years ago, and since then, you’ve amassed 31x World Cup wins, 10x X Games gold medals, 6x World Championship titles, 60x World Cup podiums, 2x Olympic gold medals, and a silver! Can you give us an overview of your career to date and how you’ve maintained such an extraordinary level of momentum?!

Jacobellis: The best way to keep my momentum has always been finding new challenges within myself. The most recent challenge that I presented to myself was after the 2018 (Olympic) games, and I really delved into my mental strength.

I started to work on who I was outside, beyond being an athlete, as early as 2016. Often you’re viewed only as an athlete and defined by your accomplishments, and that can end up labeling you within your own success. Those labels don’t really show your true identity. So when you have the opportunity to look inward and explore who you are outside of your sport, it’s revealing.

So, the best feeling of going into 2022 was that I just didn’t care how anyone really viewed me. On one side, it was incredibly hard to do—definitely easier said than done—but on the other side, this Olympic moment was going to be for me.

NOWVIZ: Would you name a few defining moments in racing that have made a definitive impact on your life?

Jacobellis: I would say my first defining moment was when I tore my ACL back in January, 2012. You initially go through that first mental hurdle thinking, When are you coming back? Will you be strong enough? Will you ever return to that level?

You’re struggling on the physical therapy table, you’re struggling in the gym. It’s something every athlete encounters at one time or another. It’s inevitable, but it never makes it easy to actually face it. To go through the steps and work through it to get back to where you were doesn’t happen right away.

It also breaks you down mentally, because you begin to question yourself, “Who am I, if I’m not doing this?” So the challenge of getting back to the level you were once at is really difficult. Then once you can begin competing, it’s a totally different challenge. There’s making that first breakthrough, then having to go through several plateaus; it’s just wicked. But on the opposite side, it can definitely be rewarding once you make it through the process.

But then, by December 2012, it seemed something hadn’t gone right with my surgery, and I had to do it all over again, starting from scratch!

Another big defining moment was after I had made great mental strides in 2016 but still came up short at the 2018 Olympics; I was just shy of the podium. I had to pick myself back up and be like, I’m still in the mix, I’m still a contender. There’s no reason for me to stop. Sure, it wasn’t what the media wanted to see or expected of me, but I’m still here. I knew I shouldn’t be walking away from the sport if I still loved it.

But making that connection mentally and finding that inner strength was definitely the result of a lot of the work that I had put in with Denise Shull and The ReThink Group. Denise and I would say keep moving forward on that momentum, and I just began to feel stronger and stronger.

So, the best feeling of going into 2022 was that I just didn’t care how anyone really viewed me. On one side, it was incredibly hard to do—definitely easier said than done—but on the other side, this Olympic moment was going to be for me. I also didn’t do any extra media. I really just told myself that at these Games I was going to enjoy the whole process, because every other Games wasn’t an enjoyable experience. One, because it seemed to always be somebody else’s journey and I was kind of just forced to walk through it.

And two, because I had another injury before the Games. In November 2021, I had had surgery on my elbow and I kept it under wraps because I didn’t want my competitors to feel they would have an edge on me. I stayed very quiet about it, posting nothing on social media, and my teammates didn’t even know. I was just trying to get through one step at a time. Then, when I got to Beijing, I was going up against kids who were young and strong!

All I could do was lean on my strengths and past experiences.

Additionally, this Olympic course was not like the previous World Cup courses. It was a totally different animal. It was an X Games-style gliding, big jumps, type of course. But me and Nick Baumgartner (team mate) had the most experience on this type of course. So whatever condition came in, we were like, “We’ve experienced this condition before, so we got this! We just have to snowboard and focus on the task at hand.”

The frustrations, failures, setbacks, they’re all inevitable in life—it’s how we grow, and learn.

NOWVIZ: In 2023, you released a book called Unforgiving: Lessons from the Fall.

In it you talk about a lifetime of snowboarding, Olympic competition, and more. What did you learn about yourself from this experience of writing a book?

Jacobellis: I felt it was really important to tell the story from my perspective, because, over the years, reporters have been telling it their way. No matter how many interviews you do where you give them all the facts, their stories come out in the way that’s really just their version—spun or highlighted to fit a particular angle. So I felt like this was the best opportunity to take charge and share all my ups and downs, the challenges, and, ultimately, to provide hope for individuals who may go through similar situations. The frustrations, failures, setbacks, they’re all inevitable in life—it’s how we grow, and learn. It’s by moving through those situations that you learn the most about yourself, and are ready to attack the next chapter.

The actual writing was so very different from what I had ever experienced. I was happy that I teamed up with somebody to help me and put my story together to really highlight the highs, the lows, and share the whole thing. I would say the strongest takeaway from my book was forgiveness. I call it Unforgiveness because I was so unforgiving to myself for so many years. I forced myself to get mental coaching and force that growth, even though sometimes I wasn’t ready for it. I even forced myself to go back and watch my 2006 Olympic race. I had to.

I had to write the play-by-play for the book. But it was the first time I had ever seen it since the race, so it was tough.

I had to prepare for it.

My cowriter was like, are you going to do it?

And I’m like, not today!

And I did really have to have a glass of wine, and kind of just chill out and be like, okay, I’m ready to face this now, because it was such a big deal for me.

It’s like the dark cloud—for lack of a better phrase—in my career, just because the media was so relentless.

NOWVIZ: What was your experience when you finally watched the race?

Jacobellis: I would say it was extremely challenging to finally face that. That was the first time I ever looked back. You’d see clips of the graph, the fall, everything. but to actually watch from start to finish, and remember, like, oh yeah, there was a big snowstorm before that, and we only got, like, to train a few times, and they didn’t do a snow seed, like they were supposed to. You forget all the details that were in the moment until you’re forced to watch the entire thing. However, once I finally watched it, and once I finally finished writing the book, it felt like this weight had been lifted off of my chest. I was able to breathe—it was like this ginormous therapy session! Just a huge breakthrough moment.

I’m so excited to have this little girl, and my husband and I are really excited to travel with her, to experience the world, see different cultures, and speak multiple languages.

NOWVIZ: Throughout the course of your career, how has the sport transformed and changed most?

Jacobellis: I would say the most obvious transition in the sport is the technology and the technology that goes into board construction, binding construction, and the wax technology. That’s the obvious, straight-up one. The courses, however, have changed over the years, and it’s become less freestyle. The turns are less bold.

They’re more Daytona-style drawn out. We went from a six-person heat on the course to a four-person racing heat.

Courses have become shorter.

Sometimes we’d even have sprint races. Some of our races used to be two minutes long minimum. Now they can be as short as 30 seconds to a minute and a half. Snow conditions vary, and lately, snow has been hard to find. Our sport often takes a lot of snow to build the courses. So to adapt in the summer before the race season, they do a lot of dirt work on the ground to build the course, which helps to save on material and time, pushing all that snow to make the course.

There’s always adaptations that have to happen in sport— it’s inevitable.

The level of riding has also evolved. The athletes get younger because every generation gets exposed a little bit sooner than the previous generation.

But you still have people like Baum and me! And you know what? It worked in 2022!

NOWVIZ: As the most dominant and decorated snowboard cross rider of all-time you are now a girl mom! Will you talk about this life-changing addition to your life?!

LJ: I’m a girl mom! Well, at first, when I found out I was having a girl, I was very scared. I was concerned that I wouldn’t be strong enough for her. In some ways, because I went through such challenging types of setbacks and struggles, the last thing I wanted to do was subject my child to similar experiences. You naturally want to protect them from that, right?! So any time I had bad experiences with the media, or I experienced a big loss or injury, my first thought was I wouldn’t want her to ever feel that! But I know these challenges are also a big part of growth, learning, and growing up. So, that was ultimately my first thought! Also, she’s coming into a world that’s a bit funky right now…But I’m so excited to have this little girl, and my husband and I are really excited to travel with her, to experience the world, see different cultures, and speak multiple languages. We just want her to love the travel and journey, enjoy being part of our little family. It’s just really exciting!

NOWVIZ: Is there a question no one’s ever asked you?

Jacobellis: Was it all worth it? I feel it definitely was.

There were times that I questioned myself, asking, Is it worth putting myself through heartache and loss and injury?

But ultimately, getting through all of those setbacks and challenges made me the individual I am today.

I’m happy with who I am and what I’ve accomplished, even outside of the sport. I feel comfortable with myself. I feel powerful and confident standing up for myself and being who I am.

The last time Oasis graced a Japanese stage was at Fuji Rock Festival in July 2009. That performance at Naeba Ski Resort was a monumental, high-energy spectacle that reaffirmed the band’s legendary status, even if their internal dynamic was strained. Liam and Noel Gallagher’s sibling rivalry was at a fever pitch, and every journalist and fan knew this. Barely a month later, a catastrophic fight erupted backstage before their headline set at Paris’s Rock en Seine. The gig was canceled at the eleventh hour, and the simmering tension finally boiled over, solidifying the worst possible outcome: Oasis was officially finished.

Sixteen long years followed. The Gallagher brothers pursued successful, separate careers, while any talk of an Oasis reunion was swiftly and often acrimoniously dismissed by Liam, Noel and the long-suffering fanbase. The feud lay dormant like a geological fault line, its presence continually felt through a barrage of high-profile, mutual public insults and social media barbs. Any weakly supported reunion rumors also invariably faded to dust.

It wasn’t until the official “Oasis Live ‘25” reunion tour announcement in August 2024 that the seemingly impossible felt within reach. Even then, an air of near-mythic disbelief pervaded the announcement. Skepticism was rampant; some fans even questioned whether the brothers were genuinely in the same room for the promotional photos (sources confirmed they were). We waited with bated breath. The inaugural show kicked off without a hitch, followed by the second, third, and fourth. Weeks turned into a resounding affirmation: the reunion was not just happening, but was being hailed as one of the most successful comebacks in rock history. The world’s collective question — “Is the Oasis reunion actually happening?” — was answered by the Gallaghers’ united, triumphant presence.

The set’s flawless ebb and flow continually pushed the crowd’s adrenaline to the edge before masterfully reeling it back in. The switches between the brothers on the microphone were timed to near-perfection, with Noel stepping forward for the emotionally resonant acoustic hits like “Talk Tonight,” “Half The World Away” and “Little By Little”.

There was a profound, shared awareness in the arena: this was a historic, once-in-ageneration moment. This exchange of energy peaked as Noel gestured with his guitar, offering the microphone to the audience for the first chorus of “Don’t Look Back in Anger.”

The resulting unified, echoing roar of the crowd was, and I say this without hyperbole, nothing short of magical.

Oasis’ two-hour performance was a masterclass in pacing, meticulously balancing their biggest mainstream hits with cherished fan-favorite B-sides. The audience, a tapestry of ages and genders, was unified, singing every lyric back at the stage. Like a well-oiled machine, Oasis instantly slipped back into the groove, sounding less like a band that had been estranged for almost two decades and more like one of the tightest acts in the world. Their onstage synergy was palpable, crackling with the intensity that defined the peak of Britpop (even with the respectable substitution of Mike Moore for guitarist Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs). Both Liam and Noel, the former of whom I’d seen solo multiple times, were evidently in tip-top musical shape.

Two incandescent hours later, the final, soaring chords of “Champagne Supernova” faded across Tokyo Dome. Liam, in a final moment of characteristic swagger, attempted to balance his maracas and tambourine on his head. He then sauntered over to Noel, and they shared a spontaneous laugh and a hug as the instruments clattered to the floor. Liam affectionately patted his brother’s behind, and the crowd erupted in a final, deafening cheer at the sheer sight of this rediscovered brotherly affection. The night felt almost healing, like a stunning reversal from the fractured memory of the band’s final months in 2009. As Oasis put it best in their set opener, “Hello”: it’s good to be back.
