Most has long been recognized as the “Vegas of the East for its multi-billion dollars casino and entertainment industry. Millions have visited the region to try their fortune and enjoy the high rolling life, but if you have been to Macao in the past decade, you would recognize the effort to promote the other face of the city with a strong focus on its rich cultural heritages., as well as organizing an eventful calendar all year round for the people around the world to come experience its unique mix of oriental and western charm.

NOW TRAVEL ASIA 25 SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2016

The Best Newest Romantic in Macau

The Parisian Macao If you have to guess which entertainment complex is The Parisian Macao out of all of the entertainment complexes on Macao, you would have guessed it right in the first attempt. Inspired by the magical “La Ville Lumière” or the “City of Lights,” the iconic half-scale replica of the famous Eiffel Tower, with a restaurant and observation decks, sitting majestically at the complex’s entrance easily gives away the location of The Parisian Macao. The integrated resort complex boasts an overwhelming sense of “joy of living” or what the French calls the “joie de vivre” in every corner. The Parisian Macao offers 3,000 contemporary French rooms and suites with Eiffle Tower views in more than a third of them. Its full array of integrated resort facilities includes ample meeting space, exceptional French and Chinese restaurant, as well as myriad of eateries and food kiosks, and plenty of entertainment for adults and families with children. In addition to all world-class facilities the Shoppes at Parisian is a truly unique mall where you can immerse yourself in the Parisian atmosphere as you stroll down the Champs Elysees, past Place Vendôme, and discover more than 150 luxury boutiques in exclusive and elegant setting reminiscent of Paris' famed Champs Elysees.

26 NOW TRAVEL ASIA SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2016

Tips The Parisian Macao opens on September 13, 2016. Get your tickets at any ticketing counter or Eiffel Tower ticketing on Level 6 (entrance via Eiffel Tower Gift Shop on Level 5)

Eiffel Tower, La Chine Restaurant

Eiffel Tower In the heart of Paris, the most romantic city in the world, stands the majestic Eiffel Tower, but you don’t have to be in France to experience the romance and elegance of Paris! The 2:1 replicated Eiffle Tower of the Parisian towers above the famous Cotai Strip, and invites visitors to gasp stunning panoramas of Macao from the observation deck on 37th floor. The iconic tower also houses The Parisian’s signature French restaurant, La Chine, for that romantic dining experience on top of the Eiffel Tower. As night falls, this little piece of Paris really comes to life with an explosion of color, dancing from the base to the top, casting a romantic glow over the hotel as it goes. For a truly personalized romantic experience, the tower can spell out your love notes to that special someone too!

Entertainment at its Best It could be said that when it comes to entertainment, Macao does it best! At The Parisian Macao, you will be able to experience world class theatrical and entertainment shows in the state-of-art Parisian Theatre which can cater over 1,000 guests. Fusing classical design with cutting-edge acoustic and lighting technology, The Parisian Theatre delivers unparalleled visual and sound experience to every guest. This is where you could get an intimate encounter with your favourite stars or enjoy the very best of global entertainment. Fun performances aren’t just limited within the theatre at The Parisian. The Parisian Streetmosphere let you immerse yourself in the colourful and energetic street performance with an eclectic mix of street artists, heart-warming comedic performances by a troupe of mimes and high-kicking cancan dancers.

A Taste of The Parisian Macao Since you are in The Parisian Macao, you undoubtedly will find some of the best of French and Chinese cuisines here. As introduced before, the Eiffel Tower is home to the hotel’s signature French restaurant - La Chine – and that’s the first big check for spectacular views of the Cotai Strip. The restaurant offers you a vibrant and chic dining experience with creative dishes that fuses regional Chinese favorites with the French Joie de vivre. Simply follow chef’s reccommendations like the succulent Roasted Duckling a l’ Orange or the Pan-seared Foie Gras with sugar-cured red dates, then finish off with creative Parisian desserts like Caramelized Pineapple Tart Tatin or the Red bean crepes with green tea ice cream.

Tips From 30 September – 13 November, the theatre will be hosting its first show, THRILLER LIVE which is created to commemorate arguably the world’s greatest ever entertainer, Michael Jackson.

The Venetian Macao is the largest integrated resort of its kind in Asia today, providing the most comprehensive collection of services, facilities, entertainment and shopping. The Venetian Macao is the flagship casino resort on Macau’s bustling Cotai Strip. Modelled on its sister property in Las Vegas, the Venetian Macao is themed on the romantic streets and canals of Venice. Naturally some of the romance is lost through the 3000 plus slot machines constantly flashing at you, but the gondola rides and replica St Marks Square are almost as jaw dropping as the real thing.

This is a Macau original. Before the Las Vegas imports arrived the Lisboa was the biggest deal in town. It has a refurbishment since the competition opened and the Michelin star restaurant, five-star hotel rooms are testament to its success. Yet, it still remains most attractive because the casino offers less glitz and more gambling. The warren of rooms here hide hundreds of tables and plenty of big rollers. The focus is on showing your cards rather than catching a show. The best place in town to enjoy the more classical Macau casino experience.

Studio City

Galaxy Macau

City of Dreams

Expect a new world of glamour in the already famously glamorous city of Macau. Studio City, a city within a city, brings the best of global entertainment and resort like experiences that cannot be found anywhere else, set against a backdrop of Art Deco styled décor architecture. Expect a two-tower hotel, entertainment venues from drinking to dining, shopping to extravaganzas. This thrilling, stylish entertainment complex is not to be ignored.

Believed by many to be one of the most spectacular leisure and entertainment destinations in the world, Galaxy Macau Galaxy Macau has begun with introduction of Broadway Macau. This new addition to the already world famous and much loved Galaxy Macau, Broadway Macau offfers a new concept to Cotai as an entertainment and accommodation resort that pushes the boundaries on what people come to expect in mega-centres like these.

The City of Dreams Macau is a one of a new breed of mega, casino resorts in the city and with its round the clock entertainment, high end hotels and gourmet restaurants it aims to be a destination for tourists looking to relax as well as gamblers. If you’re looking for a Vegas style resort in Macau, the City of Dreams Macau is a little more stylish than the faux cobblestones and gondoliers of the Venetian across the road.

to celebrate the birth of Guru Rinpoche, an Indian Buddhist master who is widely venerated as a second Buddha. The largest and most prominent Tshechu festival is the annual Paro Tshechu at the famous Punakha Dzong, which is considered one of the most important festivals in Bhutan. Tshechu festival may run 3-5 days, depending on the Dzong, and since the festival is also known as mask festival, the highlight of the festival is the monk dance. The outdoor dance is performed by monks and local dancers at the Dzong and it portrays the story of Bhutanese religious believes. Although the dance tells the same Buddhist legend every year, people still come to enjoy the show and participate in this important annual social gathering. By the end of the festival, a Tanga, a large piece of cloth with image of Guru Rinpoche and his teachings, is hanged up high for it to be easily seen and spotted from afar. Since Tshechu is a religious event, most Dzong will organize a Dharma session where lamas teach Buddhist teachings and give out colourful strings for good fortune.

The colourful dances or what the locals call “Cham”, charm travelers around the world to Bhutan with its fascinating costumes, but you should always keep in mind that the performance is a part of Bhutan’s religious tradition and believes, not for fun or entertainment. It’s important to respect the tradition every time you wish to join in, especially holy religious traditions such as this. Cham consists of variety of dances. Each dance tells its own story, but one thing in common for all the dances are the vibrant costumes – some wear masks of gods and divas, while some wear devil and animal masks.

Must Know ! The period of festival takes time on March 7 - 9, 2017

Most costumes are bright yellow with silver or gold embroidery and accessories made from animal bo nes. While most dances are exciting, here are some of the best dances you should not miss;
