A FAMILY ROOTED IN CULINARY PASSION AND COMMUNITY

PARKER | Photos by MYRTLE ROY

© Best Version Media

Anina Belle, Sébastien, their delightful children Valentina (7) and Pierre (4), and their beloved English Cocker Spaniel, Heidi, have called McLean home since 2019. This dynamic family blends a love for food, community, and shared experiences into a life as flavorful as the French Riviera recipes they cherish.

Anina Belle and Sébastien's love story is one to savor. It began in the picturesque setting of Nice, France, when a university project turned into a life-changing encounter. “I was studying abroad and had to interview him for my term project. At the time, Sébastien was the Executive Chef of a luxury hotel on the French Riviera. We were engaged just six weeks later!” Anina recalls. Twenty years and countless adventures later, the Giannini’s have built a life defined by love, hard work, and delicious food.

ABOUT ANINA BELLE

Both Anina and Sébastien boast impressive resumes in the luxury hospitality industry. Anina holds a degree in Business with a major in International Marketing from the University of British Columbia. Her love story led her to southern France, where she spent over a decade working with prestigious properties in Monaco, Nice, and Montreal. She served as Director of Sales and Marketing at The Ritz-Carlton Montreal and The Ritz-Carlton Georgetown. Her career brought the family to Washington, DC, in 2016, where she led Public Relations and Marketing for Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC, for nearly six years.

In 2017, while on maternity leave and inspired by the French way of life she fell in love with on the Riviera, Anina launched lechefswife.com. Her French food blog o ers easy, authentic recipes designed for busy people without culinary training. Today, lechefswife.com attracts two million readers annually and has been featured on The Today Show and in The Washington Post. Anina now runs her own PR and marketing firm, Savoir-Faire, alongside her business partner and mentee, Christa Machado. Together, they o er elevated PR, marketing, and branding services to local businesses.

This year, Anina co-founded Next ChaptHER with Lindsay Gill, Hilary Phelps, and fellow McLean mom Alicia McKenzie. The initiative empowers women to embrace new chapters in their lives, shifting from what they feel they should do to what they could achieve. Drawing from her own experience transitioning from a 20year luxury hospitality career to managing three companies, Anina brings invaluable insights to the project.

ABOUT SÉBASTIEN

Born and raised in Toulon, France, Chef Sébastien’s culinary journey began with his grandmother, who inspired his love for cooking during daily visits to the seaside fresh food markets. “She always used the freshest ingredients,” Sébastien recalls, crediting her for his appreciation of quality and simplicity in food.

A former Junior National Boxing Team member in France, Sébastien shifted his focus to the culinary world after a boxing injury. His career includes training in Michelin-starred restaurants under culinary icons Alain Ducasse and Franck Cerutti. By 23, he was Executive Chef at L’Auberge de la Vignette Haute, earning

acclaim for his modern interpretations of Provençal cuisine. He has competed in prestigious events like the Grand Prix Culinaire Esco ier and the Bocuse D’Or, where he represented the Côte d’Azur in France in 2010 and was the o icial coach of Team Canada at the Bocuse d’Or in 2015.

In 2017, Sébastien brought his expertise to Washington, DC, transforming dining at The St. Regis, The Watergate Hotel, and The Four Seasons. After three years as Culinary Director for a private family in McLean (whose name he will never reveal!), he joined Fady and Joanna Saba (also a McLean family) as Partner Chef of L’Avant-Garde in Georgetown. The restaurant, housed in a charming historic row house, o ers elegant, modern French cuisine with a Riviera flair.

FAMILY LIFE IN MCLEAN

Valentina and Pierre are as active as their parents. Valentina has been dancing at the Dance Academy of Virginia since she was 2.5 years old and excels in her French immersion studies, with a love for reading. Pierre enjoys playing soccer in the McLean league and shares his parents’ enthusiasm for Formula 1, a passion rooted in the Giannini’s time working with F1 in Monaco and Montreal. The family’s beloved English Cocker Spaniel, Heidi, completes their household. At 12 years old, Heidi has accompanied them through moves across three countries, embodying the family’s adventurous spirit.

Cooking together is a cherished tradition in the Giannini household. Sunday mornings often feature homemade crêpes or

baguettes, followed by a big pot of soup—a ritual that Anina swears by for healthy weekday meals. “Cooking doesn’t need to be complicated or intimidating,” Anina encourages. “Using fresh, seasonal ingredients and cooking together as a family brings joy and delicious meals to your table.”

Anina and Sébastien are a dynamic couple who, despite their busy

schedules, always prioritize giving back to the community. Anina serves on the board of Les Dames d’Esco ier, while Sébastien holds the role of President for Les Disciples d’Esco ier East Coast USA.

As they celebrate 20 years together in 2025, the Giannini’s are working on their latest project: a cookbook dedicated to the flavors of the French Riviera. “Our dream is to share the simplicity and joy of Southern French cuisine with others,” says Anina.

The Giannini’s adore their McLean neighborhood and its tight-knit community. “Our neighbors are like family,” shares Anina. From shared moments at bus stops to themed potluck dinners featuring recipes from Le Chef’s Wife blog, the camaraderie among residents is one of their favorite aspects of living in McLean.

For those in the DMV area, Sébastien’s culinary creations can be savored at L’AvantGarde, where dishes like bouillabaisse and duck magret showcase his signature flair. Whether through their blog, their restaurant, or a shared meal at home, the Giannini’s invite their neighbors to experience the beauty of French cuisine and the magic of spending time together.

The Evolving Role of Women in Leadership: A Journey from the Past to a Promising 2025

The trajectory of women in leadership roles has witnessed a profound shift over the past decades, transforming from a landscape of silent endurance to one of vocal achievement and empowerment. As we look towards 2025, this evolution paints a promising picture of further advancement and opportunity for women who are ready to take charge of their careers. This article highlights the remarkable journey of women in the workplace, through the triumphs and challenges, and the vibrant future that awaits.

THE WAY IT WAS

Reflecting on the past, particularly through portrayals in media such as Mad Men or The O ice, women in the workplace were often relegated to the background, expected to “keep their heads down” and tolerate less-than-ideal conditions.

Leadership roles were scarce, and the higher echelons of corporate hierarchies were dominated by men. In such environments, women’s contributions were frequently undervalued, and their career advancements were stymied by a thick glass ceiling.

THE TRANSFORMATIVE SHIFT

The last decade, however, has marked a significant turning point. Fueled by broader societal changes and a growing recognition of gender disparities, women began to claim their rightful places in leadership circles.

This period has seen an increase in female role models in top positions, gender-specific mentorship programs, and a collective push against the systemic barriers that previously hindered women’s career paths.

Yet, this transformation is not without its growing pains. Women in leadership roles often face unique challenges, including balancing professional growth with personal responsibilities and combating lingering biases in male-dominated industries.

The pressure to perform at exceptional levels continues to be a stark reality for many, illustrating that while progress has been made, the journey towards true equality remains ongoing.

EMBRACING OPPORTUNITIES AND OVERCOMING CHALLENGES

Today’s landscape o ers a mixed bag of opportunities and hurdles. Women are increasingly visible in leadership roles across various sectors, from technology to politics.

Organizations are slowly but surely embracing diversity and inclusion, not just as a compliance measure but as a cornerstone of

corporate success. Women leaders are driving innovation, influencing organizational cultures, and paving the way for future generations. However, the path is still fraught with challenges. Not all industries or organizations fully support this shift towards a more inclusive leadership paradigm.

Many women continue to grapple with unequal growth opportunities and pay disparities. The emotional and professional toll of ‘proving oneself’ in traditionally male-dominated fields can be substantial.

THE PROMISING HORIZON OF 2025

As we step into 2025, there is ample reason for optimism. The narrative of women in leadership is increasingly one of empowerment and control.

As more women break through barriers, the archetype of leadership is being redefined to include a broader range of styles, perspectives, and experiences. Women are not only participating in leadership— they are actively shaping what it means to be a leader.

The coming year holds significant promise for women who are prepared to steer their careers. With the right tools, a supportive network, and a clear vision, the potential for personal and professional growth is boundless.

Leadership programs, peer networks, and strategic mentorships will play crucial roles in this development, empowering women to navigate the complexities of their roles with confidence and resilience.

CALL TO ACTION

As 2025 unfolds, it o ers a fresh canvas for every woman who aspires to lead, influence, and innovate. Whether you are seeking to climb the corporate ladder, pivot to a new industry, or launch an entrepreneurial venture, now is the time to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead.

For those ready to make this leap, I invite you to watch my free masterclass, where we dedicate an hour to strategies that will amplify your growth and ensure your place at the table is secured.

support kidney health and keep your body warm and energized. Warm foods are also easier for your body to break down and utilize, in contrast to cold or raw foods. If you’ve overdone it during the holidays, really consider the foods you’re eating!

3. Consider Acupuncture for Balance

Starting the New Year Right with Your Health

As we step into a new year, it’s the perfect time to set intentions for improved health and balance. One such way is through Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which o ers a time-tested approach to wellness by aligning with the natural rhythms of the seasons and nurturing your body, mind, and spirit.

In TCM, the winter season is associated with the Water element, representing introspection, rest, and restoration. It’s the ideal time to build a strong foundation for the year ahead by focusing on your kidneys and overall energy, or Qi.

TO START THE YEAR RIGHT WITH TCM

1. Prioritize Rest and Reflection

Winter is the time to slow down and conserve energy. In fact, all of nature has been trying to point us in the direction of slowing down (i.e., less sunlight, colder temperatures, lack of sprouting plants). Ensure you’re getting quality sleep and consider adding mindfulness practices like meditation or journaling to your routine. These help to nourish your kidney energy and prepare you for the more active seasons ahead.

2. Eat Warming, Nourishing Foods

In TCM, we encourage eating seasonally and emphasizing warming foods in winter. Think hearty soups, stews, and root vegetables. Incorporating foods like black beans, walnuts, and dark leafy greens can

Acupuncture can help you align your energy, address lingering imbalances, and strengthen your immune system. Many people find that regular acupuncture sessions improve their sleep, reduce stress, and increase overall vitality—key to starting the year on the right foot.

Try This Simple Home Practice

Warm your lower back daily using a heating pad or a warm compress. This area is considered the "gate of life" in TCM, where kidney energy is housed. Keeping it warm during winter supports your vitality and resilience. In addition, make sure to wear socks—even when you’re inside your house. We say that the kidney channel starts at the bottom of your feet, so if they get cold, that cold can become problematic. Wearing socks has also been shown to be great at regulating whole body temperature! If you’re ready to embrace the new year with vitality and balance, incorporating some of the recommendations above are a great way to undo the duress of 2024 and move smoothly into 2025!

The Power of Personalization in Skincare

Licensed Master Aesthetician

skincare isn’t just about following trends—it’s about self-care, confidence, and embracing your unique skin. With so many products available, it’s clear that onesize-fits-all solutions don’t work. Personalized skincare is the key to addressing your specific needs.

Whether you’re dealing with acne, hyperpigmentation, or fine lines, a tailored approach ensures your concerns are e ectively addressed.

Personalized Skincare starts with a professional skin analysis, which helps pinpoint your skin type and any concerns. From there, we can create a plan that works just for you—be it a hydrating facial for dry skin, a chemical peel for brightness, or choosing the perfect serum to boost your glow. And remember the golden rule: always protect your skin with SPF!

But skincare isn’t just about products—it’s about your lifestyle, diet, stress, and sleep, all of which play significant roles in your skin’s health. Combining medical-grade products with healthy habits can truly make a di erence.

Pro Tip: Your nighttime routine is just as important as your daytime one. A good cleanser and Growth Factor serums can work wonders overnight! My favorite one is PCA SKIN Pro-Max Age Renewal Advanced Anti- Aging serum with Micro Growth Factor Technology.

The Deal Team!

Considering selling your business?

Selling is a complex process that requires a coordinated e ort from various professionals. Assembling the right deal team is critical to ensure a smooth and successful transaction. Here’s a guide highlighting who should be part of your deal team and what roles they play in the sale of your business.

Here are my BIG Five!!!

1. A Business Broker or M&A Advisor

A business broker or mergers and acquisitions (M&A) advisor is your primary guide throughout the sale process. We help with critical components of the sale, such as:

• Determine the value of your business

• Market your business discreetly.

• Identify and vet potential buyers

• Negotiate favorable terms

Our expertise and network can significantly streamline the sale and maximize your returns.

2. The Accountant

An accountant ensures your financials are in order and provides critical insights into the financial aspects of the deal. They likely will:

• Prepare and organize financial statements

• Advise on tax implications of the sale

• Help structure the deal to minimize tax liabilities

• Ensure compliance with accounting standards

A knowledgeable accountant can save you money and prevent costly mistkes.

3. The Attorney

A business attorney experienced in mergers and acquisitions is essential to protect your interests. Their responsibilities include:

• Drafting and reviewing legal documents

• Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws

• Advising on liabilities and risk mitigation

• Negotiating contractual terms

Their legal expertise safeguards you from potential disputes and ensures the deal proceeds smoothly.

4. The Financial Advisors / Wealth Managers

These advisors helps you plan for life after the sale. They will:

• Analyze how the sale proceeds align with your financial goals.

• Develop strategies for reinvestment, retirement, or new ventures

• Advise on wealth management and tax-e icient investment options

• Highlight unique selling points of your business

• Advise on market-specific opportunities and risks

• O er insights into industry trends impacting valuation

Their guidance ensures you make the most of your hard-earned capital.

5. A Valuation Expert

While brokers often provide valuation services, a dedicated valuation expert or appraiser o ers an impartial assessment of your business's worth. They analyze:

• Financial performance

• Market trends and conditions

• Intangible assets (e.g., intellectual property, brand equity)

A certified valuation at times is required depending on the size of your company and intellectual property. A certified ensures you set a realistic asking price and negotiate e ectively.

• Create a tailored financial plan

• Suggest diversification strategies

• Address estate planning and legacy goals

Selling is a monumental decision, and having the right deal team can make all the di erence. By surrounding yourself with experienced professionals who understand the nuances of business transactions, you’ll be better positioned to navigate challenges, secure favorable terms, and achieve your financial goals. Take the time to build your deal team carefully and invest in their expertise to ensure a successful sale.

TThe Rise of Big Brands with Local Artisans

he post-COVID era has reshaped consumer priorities. As the world slowed down, people turned their focus inward—toward their local communities and the talent within them. This shift has empowered local artisans and businesses, creating a landscape where quality and personal connection rival mass production.

Today, luxury and mass-market brands are recognizing this evolution. Once dominated by large-scale production, the market is now making space for small-scale creators who emphasize craftsmanship, uniqueness, and personalized customer care. These local businesses often forgo chasing ever-changing algorithms or global reach, instead offering something increasingly rare: authenticity.

As life moves at an unrelenting pace, consumers are seeking refuge in slower, more intentional experiences. Trends like retreats, phone-free cafés, sound healing sessions, and mindful practices such as meditation and astrology reflect this yearning. In parallel, people are gravitating toward bespoke products—custom-made, one-of-a-kind pieces that tell a story and carry a personal touch, rather than mass-produced goods that lose their charm in ubiquity.

Luxury brands have taken notice. Collaborations with local artisans allow these industry giants to connect with communities on a deeper level. For local businesses, such partnerships validate their artistry, showcasing that their craftsmanship is appreciated by even the most established names in the market. This dynamic isn't driven by slow-moving corporate marketing teams but by agile local managers who understand the value of these partnerships and act on them.

The future belongs to those who can harmonize the modern with the timeless. By bridging innovation and tradition, we create a marketplace where quality and authenticity triumph. Big brands may bring reach, but small businesses bring heart. Together, they redefine the meaning of luxury.

As artificial intelligence and automation permeate nearly every aspect of our lives, the contrast between technology and human craftsmanship becomes increasingly pronounced. The demand for handmade, oneof-a-kind products—film photography, hand-sewn garments, artisanal footwear, hand-drawn art, and handmade soaps and oils—continues to grow. These items embody a sense of care, heritage, and individuality that resonates in a world dominated by sameness.

New Year! Winter weather can make outdoor play less appealing—even if you have a fenced

Cold temperatures, ice, and snow can be tough on both pets and humans, especially if your pup has a thinner coat or doesn't like any kind of weather, but that doesn't mean your furry friend has to miss out on exercise! With a little creativity, you can keep them happy and active indoors.

© Best Version Media

Why Indoor Exercise Matters

Even in winter, pets need regular physical and mental stimulation. Without it, they might gain unhealthy weight, or get bored and turn to unwanted or destructive behaviors. By finding ways to engage them inside, you can help maintain their health and happiness through the colder months (as well as your own!)

Fun Indoor Activities

Here are a few easy ways to help your pet burn off energy indoors:

1. Training Sessions

Teaching your pet new tricks or reinforcing basic commands like “sit,” “stay,” or “spin” is a fantastic way to burn energy and strengthen your bond. Use positive reinforcement with treats or toys to keep it fun and rewarding. Training sessions are most effective when kept short and sweet, so try to go for more frequent, short sessions rather than one long one.

2. Hide and Seek

Hide treats or favorite toys around your home and let your pet "hunt" for them. Once they get the hang of it, hide and seek can also be very effective in mitigating separation anxiety when you need to leave them home alone – just hide a bunch of treats before you head out the door!

3. DIY Agility Course

Use cushions, chairs, and boxes to create obstacles for your pet to jump over or crawl under. If you have kids, this can be a great dual use of a pillow fort!

4. Puzzle Toys

Treat-dispensing toys or puzzle feeders challenge your pet mentally and help control calorie intake.

Making the Most of Winter Walks

If you do venture outside, be mindful of your pet’s comfort and safety. Use pet-safe paw balm or booties to protect their feet if there’s salt on the streets, and keep outdoor sessions short and supervised.

In today's crowded marketplace, establishing a stand-out brand is more crucial than ever. With countless options available, how can your personal (or business) brand break through the noise and capture attention? Here are five essential strategies to help you increase your visibility, impact, and revenue.

Know Your Unique Value

The first step in building a standout brand is identifying what makes you unique. What sets your o erings apart from the competition? Understanding your unique value proposition allows you to communicate e ectively with your target audience. Focus on how your products or services solve their specific problems and meet their needs. “Whether you are a CEO, entrepreneur, or just starting in your career, identifying how you can create and add value to those around you is an important skill,” says Jen Dalton, Founder and Reputation Strategist, BrandMirror.

Use Multiple Marketing Channels

To maximize your reach, don’t limit yourself to just one marketing platform. Consider where you are being seen in person, digitally, and in print. Utilize various channels—such as social media, email marketing, content creation, and even traditional advertising—to be in front of your target audiences. A consistent presence across multiple platforms enhances brand recognition and builds trust with your audience. Remember, it is not about you. It is about communicating what you know to help others.

Connect with Your Audience

Building genuine relationships with your key audiences is critical to fostering brand loyalty, increasing credibility, and connecting authentically with your audience. Engage genuinely by responding to comments, asking for feedback, and creating interactive content.

This two-way communication strengthens connections and shows that you value their opinions and needs. Whether you are trying to connect with your family, friends, neighbors, or a di erent audience, every interaction can be meaningful.

Create Great Content

High-quality content is a powerful tool for attracting attention and establishing authority in your industry. Share valuable insights, tips, and resources that resonate with your audience. Whether it’s blog posts, videos, or infographics, significant content positions your brand as a trusted source of information and keeps customers coming back for more. Remember, events are highly underutilized ways to deliver value and content. Whether you host a vision board event in January, launch a webinar, or speak at a conference, this can be a great way to deliver content.

Track Your Progress

Finally, measuring the e ectiveness of your branding e orts is essential for ongoing success. Regularly analyze metrics like engagement rates, conversion rates, and customer feedback. Use this data to refine your strategies and adapt to what works best for your audience. If you do not have time to implement these activities, consider asking for help, like a virtual assistant, to help you manage your calendar and create space for you.

Implementing these strategies can help you build a brand that breaks through the noise and drives visibility, impact, and revenue. Embrace these principles to create lasting connections with your audience and watch your brand flourish in today’s competitive landscape.

Join us early in 2025 to learn more about implementing these strategies in a way that works best for you.

One of just three Michelinstarred Indian restaurants in the United States, it’s a place where age-old tradition meets avant-garde technique, pushing the boundaries of what Indian food “should be” while paying homage to its rich heritage.

The space is both intimate and elegant, with a contemporary design that cleverly balances minimalist lines and the sophistication of Indian architecture. The soft glow of pendant lights creates an atmosphere of serene luxury. The ambiance is sophisticated but never stu y, with a welcoming aura that invites you to immerse yourself in the experience.

Before diving into the feast, guests are encouraged to indulge in one of Rania’s signature cocktails or curated wine list. One standout is the Downtown Sip, a refreshing and unconventional drink that combines Barr Hill Gin with fresh Granny Smith apple juice. The resulting cocktail has a crisp, tart bite, softened by the creamy egg white froth and a touch of hard cider, which adds a gentle e ervescence. The green chartreuse o ers a herbal complexity, balancing the sweetness of the apple and the botanical notes of the gin. It’s a drink that feels light yet full of depth, setting the perfect tone for the meal ahead.

You’ll be presented with two tasting menus: the pre-fixe fourcourse meal, where you select from a range of beautifully crafted dishes, and the more elusive “Chef’s Choice,” a guided journey

seven-course meal through the restaurant’s bestsellers. Both menus demonstrate Rania’s deep respect for the flavors of India while introducing an element of surprise that elevates them into the realm of fine dining.

The “Chef’s Choice” is where the magic happens—an exploration of the restaurant’s signature creations that also o ers a glimpse into their culinary philosophy. This menu o ers a succession of dishes that showcase both the familiar and the unexpected. It begins with a small bite of *Amuse Bouche*—a rice-flour crisp in the shape of a flower, dabbed with avocado puree, set o with drops of tamarind chutney and smoked trout roe, immediately sets the stage for what’s to come.

Shiso leaf chaat, an eye-catching start to the meal. The chaat features shiso leaves dipped in chickpea batter, fried to crisp perfection, and artfully placed atop a creamy base of yogurt and mashed white peas. The leaves, like little trees in a forest, stand tall against a backdrop of vibrant garnishes—diced mango and pomegranate seeds—that bring color and texture to the dish. It’s a chaat that nails the balance of sweet, tangy, and spicy in all the right ways.

As the meal progresses, Rania introduces diners to lesser-known regional dishes, each with a fresh twist. Nargisi Kofta, a tender meatball encasing a delicate quail egg, complemented by a rich tru le cream and the tang of pickled mushrooms—an indulgent, yet balanced bite.

The Lobster Momo follows, a dumpling resting in a velvety moilee sauce with the briny luxury of Kaluga caviar elevating the dish further. Next, the Lamb Seekh Kebab arrives perfectly charred on the outside, succulent on the inside.

The Tandoori Squab, its smoky charred exterior giving way to tender, juicy pigeon meat, beautifully paired with a rich red pepper makhani sauce that adds a subtle sweetness and depth of flavor.

A Lamb Cheela "taco" finished with buttermilk mousse and red onion laccha… I'm still dreaming of this dish. Each dish tastier than the next.

A fennel granita refreshes the palate, its cool, aniseed notes clearing the way for the surprise chef had in store for us.

We were brought out all the desserts because, after all, a girl can never have just one. There was caramelized pineapple paired with an aromatic (almost overpowering) Masala Chai ice cream and jaggery crumble, a Keasari mango—served as a frozen sphere with sesame brittle and coconut mousse. Lastly, my favorite: Shrikhand mousse with Makrut lime tapioca and cape gooseberries, all delicately covered with a sugar veil that you break à la crème brûlée style. The flavors were a perfect counterpoint to the rich heaviness of the preceding courses.

The service at Rania is impeccable—attentive without being overbearing, knowledgeable without being condescending. Waitsta move seamlessly through the dining room, each dish explained with care and passion. Sommeliers are well-versed in pairing, o ering an impressive selection of wines and unique cocktails that complement the bold, multifaceted flavors of the meal.

Rania translates to "queen" in Hindi and Sanskrit, and that is exactly how I felt dining here. Its Michelin star is welldeserved; it’s a rare dining experience that transcends the typical boundaries of Indian cuisine while staying deeply connected to its roots. Whether you’re a connoisseur of Indian food or a newcomer to the cuisine, Rania promises a journey that’s as much about discovery as it is about indulgence. It’s an exciting, bold, and unforgettable experience—one that redefines what a Michelin-starred Indian restaurant can be.

On December 3rd, the Northern Virginia Alliance League (NVAL) hosted its Annual Holiday Luncheon at the elegant Army Navy Country Club. This highly anticipated event brought together community leaders, philanthropists, and supporters to raise funds for a cause close to the heart of Northern Virginia: the Marjorie Hughes Fund for Children (MHF).

NVAL, a dedicated group of 42 women committed to supporting local nonprofits, showcased its enduring tradition of giving through this spectacular event. Every year, the Holiday Luncheon serves as a cornerstone for their fundraising e orts, and this year was no exception. All proceeds from the luncheon will benefit MHF, a 501(c) (3) organization founded in 1992 in honor of Dr. Marjorie F. Hughes. Dr. Hughes, a devoted public health physician, dedicated her career to ensuring underserved children in Arlington received the care they needed.

Funds raised will support urgent pediatric dental care for low-income students, addressing the most common chronic childhood disease in the United States—dental decay. With 34 million school hours lost annually due to untreated tooth issues, the impact is profound. Through partnerships with local dentists o ering discounted services, MHF ensures continuity of care for these students, helping to restore not just their smiles but also their ability to thrive in school.

The event also provided a valuable platform for local businesses to connect with the Northern Virginia community while making a meaningful di erence. Each sponsorship dollar not only supported this critical cause but also highlighted the generosity and commitment of local enterprises to uplifting the community.

As the Northern Virginia Alliance League continues its mission to aid nonprofits, this year’s luncheon was a poignant reminder of the power of collaboration and generosity. Together, we can bring brighter smiles and brighter futures to the children of Arlington.

Moving Families into New Beginnings:

How Petra Moving Company Can Help You Start Fresh in 2025

Moving isn’t just about packing up and relocating—it’s about new beginnings, fresh starts, and creating a sense of home. At Petra Moving Company, we understand how meaningful these transitions can be. In 2024, we had the honor of helping several families and individuals move to new chapters of their lives. Here’s a look at how we made a di erence for our customers and how we’re here to do the same for you in 2025.

1. A Sentimental Move: From Maryland to South Carolina

One of the most memorable moves we completed this year involved a family who needed help relocating from Maryland to South Carolina. This wasn’t just any move—this move consisted of moving irreplaceable items that meant the world to our clients. Among their most cherished possessions was lumber that had been cut by their deceased brother over 30 years ago from a tree at the family home. These items represented deep family history and memories.

Moving such special pieces required not only the logistics to get them safely across state lines but also the compassion to handle them with care. We ensured that every item, especially the lumber, was packed securely and safely transported. Our team went above and beyond, providing personalized service to ensure their treasured belongings arrived just as they left—safe, sound, and full of memories.

2. A Smooth Move for David & Heather in Sterling, VA

David and Heather’s move was a reminder that it’s often the little details that matter most. Moving from a townhouse in Sterling, VA, to their new home, they faced the challenge of navigating tight spaces. Townhomes often come with narrow hallways and doorways, and maneuvering bulky furniture through these areas can be tricky.

Our team worked e iciently to carefully pack and navigate those tight spaces, ensuring that every item, no matter how large or

fragile, was moved without damage. David and Heather were grateful for the thoughtful care we put into their move, and we were thrilled to help them settle into their beautiful new home. This move wasn’t just about moving boxes—it was about making their transition as smooth and stress-free as possible.

3. The Long Journey: From Hedgesville, MD, to Flint, TX

Some moves are more than just about crossing town or even crossing states—they’re about moving across the country. We had the privilege of assisting a retired firefighter and pastor with an incredible three-part move that spanned multiple states. The journey began in Hedgesville, MD, continued to Franklin, TN, to pick up items, and culminated in their new home in Flint, TX.

This move was especially meaningful to the client due to one particular item: an antique fire hydrant given to him when he retired. The hydrant was a treasured memento, and it needed to be transported with extra care. Our team handled the delicate logistics of this long-distance move, ensuring everything from the fire hydrant to the family’s other belongings arrived in perfect condition.

This move was a true testament to the flexibility and care we o er our clients. We coordinated every step of the way, listening to the client’s story, understanding the emotional significance of their move, and ensuring they felt supported throughout the entire process. It was an honor to help them start their new life in Texas.
