What is the Theme?

The theme of my stories is that fame and wealth cannot always protect you. Although Cleopatra was a famous and wealthy person, who even married very famous and wealthy people, lots of wars came her way. She even sometimes either had to run away or was banned from somewhere. Cleopatra actually married Julius Caesar and Marc Antony. She actually ended up leaving Marc Antony at the end because he was defeated in a war against Octavian and she began doubting his safety he promised for her. I personally agree and disagree with this. The reason why is because money can’t keep you safe, however people with more money have more advantages, which means they could be extremely safe.

In ancient Egypt, there were mummies and rulers who died at a very young age. Ancient Egypt was known for containing pyramids and the Nile river. One very famous ruler that is still talked about today was Cleopatra. I knew that she was married to Julius Caesar. I also know that she had many children and that she had many wars with her

enemies. I wanted to know more about her life, how she grew up as a little girl, the different places she went to, how she ruled, the different rulers there were before her as well as her accomplishments and her inabilities.

Bias The author is biased because both authors explains the most important things that Cleopatra went through in her life. Although he explains everything in a descriptive way, I still believe she is biased toward Cleopatra. The reason why is because, in many chapters, she exclaims the amazing Cleopatra or the best queen one example is, “ she rules all of Egypt, had roman trembling in their togas, and made kings weak at knees. Yet the glamour queen of Egypt started out as a bookish nerd” (Shecter 9). Therefore this shows that the author really has a passion and lust for Cleopatra. Other times, the author explains the different wars and decisions that Cleopatra has gone through. Often when Cleopatra lost or made an absurd decision, the author would not react in a bad way. This proves again that the author is biased, even though he is mostly describing facts. The style in both books is descriptive. The reason why is because, in both books, they are describing the different challenges that went on through all of Cleopatra's life. My books are very similar because they both talk about Cleopatra's timeline and the different courses that went by in her life.

However, they are different because the first book was more descriptive than the second. Yet they still contained the same information.

What did I learn?

In both of my books, I learned about Cleopatra's dangerous life, what she accomplished, and the important events during her lifetime. Something interesting that I have learned was that Cleopatra was not even Egyptian! She was actually Macedonian ( Greek ). I’ve also learned that ever since Cleopatra was a little girl, she was extremely ambitious about becoming successful as a queen as she grew older. As a teenager, she was commanded to share the throne with her younger ten-year-old brother and marry him.

However, they did not exactly treat each other as husband and wife, since this was just traditional.

Cleopatra’s brother and his advisers actually kicked Cleopatra out of Egypt. She fled to Syria and demanded in a boisterous way, war. She ended up winning and her brother drowned in the river, using his jewelry to weigh him down. One thing Cleopatra was known for was that all her husbands were captivated by her beauty and intelligence. She was also known for winning lots of battles, however, many have defeated her before. Cleopatra was known to not be reclining, she was always busy with all the great things happening in her life. Some of the grand events she experienced were the creation of ides, the conspirators and their plan to kill her fir st actual husband, Julius Caesar, the many travels she had did either to escape or require safety. Other times it would be because she got banned from the country. Another grand event was when she married Marc Antony, and when she made a deal with Octavian to kill him. However, Cleopatra was extremely wise and decided to trick both Octavian and Antony, she faked her own death. By doing that, Antony kills himself before noticing
