Juliana Clark Age: 18 Hometown: Clinton, Iowa Grade: Senior at Clinton High School Scholastic Ambition: Attend the University of Alabama to obtain a degree in Kinesiology Service Initiative: Pack the Pantries: Fighting Food Insecurity In her two years of involvement in the Miss Iowa’s Teen program, Juliana has received more than $2,800 in scholarship as well as a full ride to the University of Alabama. Her service initiative, Pack the Pantries, empowers the next generation by educating classes about food insecurity. She also donates to pantries and has fundraised more than $10,000.

Alysa Goethe Age: 24 Hometown: Bettendorf, Iowa Education: Bachelor’s of Music Education - Drake University Service Initiative: Not Your Type: Advocating for Type 1 Diabetes Alysa has been involved with the Miss Iowa Scholarship Program for 14 years. Beginning as a 10 year old who just wanted to sing for people, she has found a love of helping communities and mentoring others. Alysa has earned upwards of $28,000 in scholarships.

Inspired by her diagnosis at 11, Alysa’s Service Initiative aims to educate others on the harmful stigmas and misconceptions plaguing the diabetes community so that together we can all unite in advocacy for a cure. She has traveled 52,000 miles around the world, authored a proclamation, hosts a podcast, implements curriculum, and works with 35 regional/national/international partners to reach millions with her work.

Thank you for attending our send-off celebration! We cannot express how wide our gratitude is for everyone who has helped us along this journey.
