Value Awards

Excellence Award

We have high aspirations and pursue excellence across all areas of our provision. We nurture individual pupils to achieve their highest potential and make a positive impact in the world.

NoorAl-Qamachi

Noor has shown strong leadership with a variety of sixth form activities, most notably hosting taster day students and taking prospective parents on school tours.

CharlieHopkinson

Charlie has competed at the top international level in sailing, keeping up with his work despite spending every weekend on the South Coast training with GB.

MatthewMioduszewski

Matthew has achieved A* for every major assessed piece of work this year!

Individuality Award

We value each child and member of staff as an individual and embrace diversity in all its forms. We create the conditions in which our staff and children can be happy and flourish.

LouisAshton-Gully

When Louis first joined NHS he was very quiet but his music has really helped him grow as an individual. House choirs, School Orchestra, Big Band, Jazz Band to name a few but he also takes himself off to various venues in Nottingham to "jam" on their open nights. He is hard-working and very personable.

KrishBassi

Krish has not had a typical approach to his GCSE and A Level studies. He has always been prepared to do things his own way. He has juggled his studies at the High School with a successful acting career, taking challenging roles in BBC production of Phoenix Rise and then the Archers. He has become very independent and shown real determination and commitment to his studies, and has maintained high academic standards throughout. He has shown real dedication to following his dreams and has made it work despite the challenges it brought.

EthanCorne

Ethan has been running the Y8-11 Debating Society this year, offering incredible leadership and advice to a wide range of students. He is immensely respectful and he offers fantastic, individualised feedback to the students in attendance. He also demonstrates clear understanding of the School Values, developing the use of British Parliamentary Debating style in the sessions and, therefore, emphasising the importance of the Democratic Process.

Respect Award

We are proud to be an inclusive and diverse community. We value kindness, integrity and modesty. We champion a culture of respect and understanding between all in the school community.

HukamSethi

Hukam has shown respect through volunteering on a very regular basis at The Guru Nanak Mission and cooking meals and hot nutritious food for the homeless and more vulnerable people in Nottingham City Centre in the evenings.

HarryWhitehead

Harry is a delightful member of the School. Unfailingly polite and respectful to all, he has demonstrated these attributes tirelessly during his time at the High School. His work with the CCF embodies these attributes and is also shown by his position on the SLT. Not only does Harry show the respect to his studies, co-curricular and to the School, he also commands the respect of both his fellow students and his teachers. He would be a worthy winner of this award.

BenFrench

Ben is the embodiment of the value of respect. Whomever he deals with, he demonstrates this value, be it to his peers, teachers or individuals he comes across through his CCF work. In the CCF, he has demonstrated this value time and time again. He has the respect of his colleagues in this area, as demonstrated by his position of RSM and as the Senior Cadet in the School. Ben has demonstrated his respect of other people's values and shown a commitment to understanding differing points of view. This, among other reasons, is why he will make a first-class student of International Relations. Ben would without doubt, be an worthy winner of this award to celebrate all he has achieved at the High School.

Empathy Award

All of our provision is underpinned by empathy and tolerance. We seek to build resilience and empower children to make a difference in the world.

SonamSoar

Despite not loving debating, Sonam regularly stepped in to offer debates and assistance, particularly to younger students, so that debates could go ahead, working well out of her comfort zone.

EmilyDavid

Emily has supported a Y5 History class at IJS, extended well beyond the parameters of the sessions arranged by Mrs Daly to the extent that Emily continued to support this class and was invited to their WWII showcase.

HollyPalmer

Showing consistent support and encouragement to younger members of the Chamber Choir.

Curiosity Award

We value intellectual curiosity and creativity. We want every child to develop a love of learning. We embrace taking risks to enhance pupil development both academically and as people.

EsmeWinter

Esme has shown curiosity by independently researching several aspects of biochemistry, including PROTAC medical treatment (on which she has written a competition essay). Was also selected for drug discovery work experience at Sygnature - using curiosity to find out about new applications for the material she is studying.

FinleyRamowski

Finley has been a great ambassador for intellectual curiosity in the school. He has consistently demonstrated this in his approach to English lessons and assignments. He is eager to explore ideas beyond the requirements of the exam, and consistently undertakes wider reading outside the classroom. His study of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' was enriched by his broader study of queer theory and marxist philosophy. Even while revising for exams, he continued to stretch himself: he created an excellent podcast on 'Brain-rot' for 'The Big Idea' series, which was humorous, well-researched, and even-handed.

MatthewMoran

There is extensive evidence on Unifrog of the many ways in which Matthew has explored his curiosity for History: he has set up three types of work experience/volunteering in History/Archaeology, has completed an EPQ on the Magna Carta, is planning to record an episode of the Big Idea podcast on the history of Trent Bridge Cricket Ground, attends a local History society in Arnold, and has attended online Q&As about History at university.
