STUDENT NOTICES MONDAY 22ND JUNE

Message from CLT Continuing with the principle that ‘Knowledge is Power’ the Notre Dame Fam Vlog content this week celebrates ‘Windrush Day’. It was the 22nd June 1948 when the first ship, Empire Windrush arrived at Tilbury Docks in Essex bringing many Caribbean people to live in Britain in answer to an advert asking for their help to fill jobs and boost our post war economy. Many more arrived in the following years to enrich communities like Leeds and contribute to the wonderful diversity of our population.

By learning our country’s history we can move towards a more inclusive society and we celebrate our diverse community at Notre Dame for the gifts we all contribute.

This week’s good news story: The good news this week is that even more students are able to come into College for vital face-to-face appointments and small group workshops with staff. If you have been offered an opportunity to come into college this week we are very much looking forward to seeing you.

NOTICES U6 Library Books To those in U6 with library books to return, there is now a returns bin available Monday - Friday 10am-2pm to the right of the main entrance. You are able to drop your books into this bin during those days and times only; please follow the usual social distancing rules to help keep everyone safe. Please keep the books for now if you cannot safely return the items.

Funding for U6 Priority 1 Students Any student in U6 ONLY who is a priority 1 student and has been receiving lunch money payments, please be aware that these payments ended on the 18th June as you have now left college.

Travelling by bus If you are invited into college to attend a meeting, please check your bus routes for amended service times. Please follow the government guidance on using public transport - this information is also on the college website.

Virtual Work Experience Virtual work experience resources can be found on the Careers Moodle page under Topic 3. Sectors/ career paths covered include: arts & media, architecture, civil & structural engineering, dentistry, medicine, midwifery, primary education, social work, sport, veterinary science, STEM and law. If you have any requests for a particular career or sector, please contact htr@ndonline.ac.uk.

Compulsory Work Experience Students If you are studying for a double award in IT, Business or Health and Social Care, or for a triple award in Health and Social Care you will receive an email this week with information about your virtual work experience week which will start the week commencing June 22nd. If you do not receive this email, and are studying one of these subjects, please contact htr@ndonline.ac.uk so you can be added to the mailing list.
