3. A catalyst speeds up or controls reactions.

In other words, it's able to switch between two forms depending on temperature; these forms are called states A (activated) and B (inactive).

4. Nitric acid is a strong acid.

 Nitric acid is a strong acid because it dissociates completely in water(HNO3+H2O) which gives acidic hydrogen ions and nitrate ions - both strong acids.

The nitrate ion has a charge of +5, while the hydronium ion (H3O+) has a charge of +1. Since these two compounds have opposite charges, they are called "polyprotic" because they can both donate and accept protons.
