BERNALE.SMITHSR(BGC)xNOTESFORNOTES(MEMPHIS): “WETHEBES(T)”-ATITLEWORNWITHPRIDE

This past month, we partnered with the youth at the Bernal E. Smith Sr. Boys & Girls Club for some music-making fueled by passion and teamwork—and the result? An anthem that’s bold, proud, and undeniably the BES(T). From day one, the goal was clear: create a song that would not only represent the club, but celebrate its unique spirit, energy, and community. They didn’t just want a theme song—they wanted to make a statement.Andso,“WetheBES(T)”wasborn.Anodtotheclub’snameand a claim to being the best BGC in the city—a title they wear with pride. HONORING HERITAGE THROUGH MUSIC: N4N (MEMPHIS) CELEBRATES HISPANIC VOICES DURING NATIONAL HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH

At Notes for Notes, we believe music is more than just sound—it's a powerful expression of identity, culture, and heritage. This National Hispanic Heritage Month, we're proud to celebrate the richness of this culture by highlighting the voices of our own talented youth, David and Tanis, two talented artists from our N4N family whose roots and rhythms are deeply inspired by their heritage. Through these songs, David and Tanis aren’t just making music—they're telling stories, preserving heritage, and representing a new generation of Hispanic artists who are proud of where they come from and where they’re going. N4N is honored to provide the space, tools, and mentorship for young creators to explore their identities and share their voices with the world. “PODCASTING”COMINGSOON:ANAMEISSTILLINTHE

We’ve started testing the waters with a brand-new podcasting initiative—name still in the works, but the vision is clear. This space will be a safe, welcoming platform where youth can speak freely about everyday life—the good, the bad, and everything in between. More than just recording conversations, this podcast will put an emphasis on having a voice, encouraging honest dialogue, active listening, and real connection. Stay tuned as we build something meaningful, one conversationatatime.

MUSICDISCOVERY/SPOTLIGHTSESSIONS: HEALTHYOUTLETSFORYOUTHEXPRESSION

Music Discovery & Spotlight Sessions have quickly become a cornerstone of our monthly programming—and the impact speaks for itself. What starts as a quiet hum or a curious listen often grows into bold mic drops and breakthrough moments. These sessions are about more than just music—they’re designed to build confidence, spark curiosity, and help youth explore new genres, sounds, and parts of themselves. Whether it’s guided listening, a spontaneous Rockband session, or picking up an instrument for the first time, there's always a way in—and no pressure to be perfect, just space to create freely. Every month, we witness incredible growth: young artists stepping up to write their first song, record their first track, or perform in front of their peers. These small moments oftenleadtobigcreativeleaps—andwe’rehereforeveryoneofthem.
