CINCO DE MAYO Happy Cinco! West Side encapsulates everything about Cinco and is the beating heart of St. Paul during this nation wide celebration. This Cinco we took to the streets with BGC and marched in the parade along with 6 youth who represent West Side. We passed out candy, popsicles, and flyers to promote our programming. It was a day filled with music, food, community, and a sense of belonging that can never be taken away from us - a true testament to what the Twin Cities represent.
VOCAL COMPING No one gets it perfect on the first take, Nas included. For his song ‘2K’ Nas put down around 5 takes of lyrics while creating this song. Each take was a bit different and had it’s own qualities that he liked and wanted to preserve. We learned about the process Vocal Comping and the editing associated with it for around half an hour then hit the road running. Nas comped this entire song by himself and truly took the time to make sure this creation is exactly how he wanted it. Amazing effort to match amazing talent!
