This summer at Porter Goodwill Boys & Girls Club was filled with creativity, collaboration, and a healthy dose of competition. Through dynamic, hands-on music programming each week, youth tapped into their artistic sides—exploring songwriting, beat making, and recording. They brought original ideas to life with tracks like the bold and fiery anthem “Hot Cheetos”, and began work on “Ninja Warrior”—inspired by the girls' epic victory over the boys in a high-energy obstacle course showdown. With beats, bars, and bragging rights, it was a summer that truly hit all the rightnotes.

To cap off a summer filled with creativity, learning, and growth, NotesforNotes(Memphis)pulleduptotheSycamoreViewBoys& Girls Club End-of-Summer Camp festivities with their mobile studio gear, delivering a hands-on music experience the youth won’t soon forget. As the grand finale to weeks of impactful programming,thecelebrationgavecampersachancetoshowcase their new skills and creativity among their peers. From beat-making to experimenting on the keyboard, the kids brought the energy and closed out summer on a high note. It was the perfect,music-filledsendofftoatrulyunforgettableseason.

At Notes for Notes (Memphis), Music Discovery and Spotlight Sessions are where the magic begins. These fun, low-pressure experiences hook youth with the excitement of karaoke, interactive gameslikeRockBand,andhands-onaccesstorealinstruments—all while sneaking in the fundamentals of music and performance. It’s music education disguised as pure fun, and the results speak for themselves: boosted confidence, sparked creativity, and talents that might’ve stayed hidden now shining bright. These sessions have become a powerful gateway for new participants, offering a safe, welcoming space to express themselves and take their first steps on amusicaljourneywithN4NMemphis.
CREATING CONNECTIONS: HOMESCHOOL FAMILIES THROUGH MUSIC
NotesforNotes(Memphis)wasinvitedtoparticipateasavendoratalocal Homeschool Info Fair—an outreach opportunity designed to connect homeschooling families with community resources. The event was full of positiveenergyandmeaningfulnetworking,asfamiliesexplorednewways to enrich their homeschool experience. We set up a mobile studio where youth got hands-on with beat-making and piano play, while parents engaged in great conversations about how N4N can support their children’s creative growth and musical journey. It was a day of music, connection,andexcitingpossibilities!
