August 2014
As we enter the eighth month of 2014 realisation hits that our fight for Anstey will be a long one. We look forward to the visit by our M.P Rt. Hon. Stephen Dorrell on 1st August 2014 at The Jubilee Hall starting at 1900. This is your chance to put searching questions to your representative. [I’m sure he needs no reminding that 2015 is a General Election year.] So please put this date in your diary! A positive for the near future is that the figures for housing in the Core Strategy refused by the Government Inspector, are very similar to those found in the 2014 Strategic Housing Market Assessment carried out very recently by all the borough councils in Leicestershire. We still however must wait for the Inspector to examine those figures before weight can be given to the Strategy. We do not know when this will be done. Last week we attended Charnwood Planning Meeting and were pleased to see our Councillors going against the Chair of Planning and rejecting plans for up to 975 houses at Cotes even though Highways raised no objections.
Developers propose a complete rebuild of The Nook, that Highways have approved in order to support the planning application for new houses in Anstey. Object to Charnwood Borough about this absurd design (Planning Number P/13/2340/2). For further information visit our website: www.saveanstey.co.uk
L.C.C Highways have removed their objection to the Cropston Road development and accepted, in essence, a ludicrous plan to replace The Nook roundabout with a twin mini-roundabout system based on inadequate manipulated data. This will result in reduced parking spaces, including blue badge spaces and bus stop positions changed. It can only mean a worse and more dangerous traffic problem than at present. Letters of objection have been sent from every part of the village showing the very strong feeling against these plans. Please keep submitting these letters, normally our planners will keep accepting them after closing date. This application is expected to be discussed at Charnwood Planning meeting on 14th August. Turn out and show your disgust. We will let you have more information closer to the date on our website http://www.saveanstey.co.uk and on Facebook.
