Glebe House, a Loughborough based charity, has invited local organisations and charities across Leicestershire to work in partnership to coordinate a range of events and activities to mark World Autism Awareness Week starting from 27th March to 2nd April and then throughout April.

Organisations who have already pledged their support to help raise much needed awareness include Leicestershire County Council, Leicestershire Autistic Society, Autism East Midlands, RNIB College, Homefield College, Charnwood Borough Council, Attenborough Arts but to name a few.

Glebe House Chief Executive, Peter Warlow stated, “Whilst general awareness of autism is much higher in recent times, research shows that there remains a lack of understanding about what it really means to live with autism, not only for the person with autism but also for those who care for them and live with them.“ He went on to say, “Whether it’s at school, within businesses or in social settings, people with autism are still misunderstood. We are asking organisations across Leicestershire, what they are doing to help raise autism awareness.“ Events include a ‘Living with Autism’ Conference on the 30th March hosted by Leicestershire Autistic Society at the NSPCC Training Centre, Leicester, followed by a worldwide initiative to ‘Light up in Blue’ as we countdown to World Autism Awareness Day. A charity event hosted by Fusion Lifestyle Loughborough will celebrate autism within the community on the 2nd April. Autism East Midlands will be hosting a ‘Pathway to Adulthood’ conference on the 25th April at Glebe House, Loughborough and Contact a Family will run a ‘Challenging Behaviour’ Workshop on the 26th April.

Shepshed History Society 14th February the Shepshed History Society were able to enjoy a talk given by Mrs Ruth Coward.

With the aid of many interesting slides and literature appertaining to the talk she proceeded to give the fascinating life story of her father Mr Peter Sharpe, who of course became instigator of the well known furnishing store on Leicester Road, Loughborough.

He was born of a poor family who lived in one of the noted slum areas of Loughborough but to his credit he soon worked his way up when on leaving school he began to train in upholstery having gone to work at Yeates. It was a well known firm in the town who specialised in fitting out buses and other modes of transport. He then went onto opening a small upholstery business of his own and eventually having made a great success of it, he was able to expand into selling furniture.

So opening up a much larger shop he began to sell the famous good quality furniture like Ercol, G. Plan etc. and happily he made a resounding success of his business as the years went on. He is now retired and sadly his shop is now a motor cycle business.

And so this once famous furniture shop has unfortunately sunk into the annuls of local history but his good quality furniture still lives on in many homes I’m sure.

The speaker for the March meeting on the 14th is to be Mrs Julie Ede, who will relate tales of the infamous Wallis Simpson.

New members are always welcome at the Glenmore Centre, Shepshed. We start at 7-30 p.m. until approx 9.00.

Shepshed Running Club Beginners Group With the arrival of the lighter nights SRC have relaunched their Thursday evening beginners group. The group meets at 7pm, in the Shepshed High School's car park, by the swimming pool.

The sessions are no more than 3 miles or 30 minutes at a pace comfortable for all. Experienced runners will be there to give encouragement and advice. Club Chairman said "The sessions are free with no obligation to join.

Our aim is to provide advice and support to joggers of all ages."

Meditation for Relaxation, Serenity And Insight

Shepshed And District Camera Club Members of Shepshed and District Camera Club recently volunteered to take photos of a charity’s training session held at Burleigh Court on the University campus. Back Up is a leading UK charity who inspire people affected by spinal cord injury to get the most out of life.

They wanted some new images to be used on their webpage. The camera club agreed to help out and spent a few hours at the Mentoring training session, taking photos of their newly trained volunteers. Back Up’s Mentoring service supports people with a spinal cord injury and their family members to move forwards with their lives and work towards personal goals. All their volunteer mentors have a spinal cord injury themselves, or are the family member of someone with an injury. In this way, Back Up’s mentors can use their own personal experience to support others in a similar situation.

Labour Councillors would love to meet you and help you deal with any issues that you may have. All Shepshed residents are welcome.

For some years I have been running a group in Shepshed for experienced meditators – the atmosphere at the weekly meetings is relaxed and informal, with a completely independent non-sectarian approach.

Serenade Shepshed

Shepshed Probus Club

Over the festive season Serenade, Shepshed’s ladies community choir have been very busy!

We did our second tour of 3 Nursing homes in Shepshed, which was well received by residents and staff alike, as well as thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding for the choir members.

On December 11th, many members sang at the Carillon centre in Loughborough to bring some festive cheer to last minute shoppers and raise money for our chosen charity.

The President welcomed members,guests and our speaker for today Mike Smith to the February meeting of The Shepshed Probus Club. After the apologies and club notices were dealt with luncheon was taken followed by the usual raffle after which the President introduced the talk to be given by our member Mike Smith “Cold War Russia”. This comprised an account of a holiday taken in September 1986 some six months after the nuclear power station disaster in April of that year and during the presidency of Mikhail Gorbochov. We were given a first-hand account of Russian life with all the restrictions and surveillance through the eyes of a holiday maker at that time,some quirky,some scary. The tourist was allowed free passage in the recognized tourist areas but prevented by the Red Guards from wandering elsewhere. Lack of cars owned by locals was noticeable but public transport was cheap,tourist shops took sterling and dollars only,no jaywalking was allowed,there was no unemployment – workers in their 70’s were seen. All these observations were made in Moscow. Beyond the city limits however conditions were very different – part 2 to follow.

Mike was thanked for sharing the experience with us and the meeting was closed.

The choir were invited to sing at The Horse in Shepshed just before Christmas, this was a lovely evening for the diners, who were serenaded by a handful of our members (not enough space for the whole choir!) whilst they started the Christmas celebrations.

Finally the choir joined the Loughborough concert band at St Botolph’s church for the annual Christmas concert. A packed church enjoyed festive favourites such as In the Bleak Midwinter and Mistletoe & Wine.

At all of our events we try to raise money for our chosen charities Shepshed Toy Library and STEPS so please come along and support us when you can.

We raised over £750 from all of our events over Christmas, so a huge thank you to everyone who came and supported us.

It doesn’t stop there! Into the New Year and we have more to prepare and rehearse for – another tour of the nursing homes in May, and our Summer concert, entitled colours of Sound, where all the songs will have a colour theme, will be on July 8th. As well as our songs look out for a twist to the concert, with guest musicians and vocalists on the night.

We are also looking to sing at the Carillon Centre again in the late Spring to entertain the shoppers.

At all of our events we aim to raise money for this year’s chosen charities, Shepshed Toy Library and STEPS so please come along and support us when you can.

We’re always happy to welcome new members so why not come along to Shepshed High School where we meet every Monday evening during term time at 7.30 pm. It’s just £3 per session and this includes refreshments of tea, coffee or squash and biscuits.

Shepshed Craft Fair 1st April by 6th Shepshed Guides The Guides are working towards their CHALLENGE Badge and organising a community event in Shepshed with a CRAFT FAIR at Christchurch Methodist in Field Street on SATURDAY 1st April 2017. From 10am till 2pm.

30 local Crafters have booked a table and we have PLAY 360 coming with 2 of their mascots Twizzle and Twist, to play with children and do activities with them. The Guides are doing a Teddy Tombola, a Cookery book Lucky dip, cake stall and refreshments.

We want to give local people an outlet for their crafting skills, while encouraging the community to visit the Girl Guides and see what they do in Shepshed. Guides Mums are all busy making knitted owls and hedgehogs… and of course there will be cakes!

So, come along on Sat 1st April. Don’t be an April fool and miss it!

Beatrice The Elephant Finds A New Home Customer May Smith showed she was up to the ‘tusk’ in hand when she named the giant toy elephant in a competition held by The Nottingham Building Society’s Shepshed branch.

May, who lives in Shepshed, opted for the moniker ‘Beatrice’ and was delighted to find out that was correct and to be presented with the cuddly mammal herself!

It was all part of the branch team’s efforts in raising over £65 for the British Heart Foundation with the competition and by inviting customers to pay £1 to put a love message of their choice on a heart in the branch window on Valentine’s Day. Customer adviser Ria Cook said: “Like last year, we wanted to spread some love around

Shepshed and of course raise funds for the British Heart Foundation, which is a fabulous cause. Like twelve months ago the hearts in the window proved to be very popular, as did the competition – which had a very deserving winner in May.”

200 Years Of Doctors In Shepshed A short review of 200 years of medical practice in Shepshed has recently been compiled by David Stevenson. Condensed into just two pages it traces the progress of Shepshed doctors from a barber surgeon in 1822 to the busy surgeries serving the town to-day. The account also follows the development of chemists’ shops from an early drug store in Cheapside to our contemporary pharmacies.

New Play Equipment - Glenmore Park This is the recently installed new play equipment in Glenmore Park, this was part funded by Tesco Bags for Help Scheme, which the Town Council was successful in being award £4,000.

Fibre broadband In Shepshed We have had some news from our frontline engineers regarding the progress of work to make fibre broadband available in Shepshed near Charles Hall Close.

Green roadside cabinets are usually identified by the telephone exchange name they are connected to and a number which tells us where the location of the cabinet is.

We have been informed that there will be a road closure required in order to connect the main fibre network to the green roadside cabinet known as Shepshed 13 (on Charles Hall Close, LE12 9UP). The cabinet serves approximately 129 homes and businesses.

Our Openreach engineers and highways teams will be working closely together to get this road closure arranged. The road closure will allow our engineers to install over 150 metres of fibre on top of the existing copper lines.

We’re hopeful of completing work by September 2017 but as this is a bit later than planned, we’ve made it a ‘priority cabinet’ meaning it will get our full attention until delivered.

Due to the nature of the project we cannot always predict how the underground network will look or if there will be blockages along our planned routes. A lot of surveying work and repairing of infrastructure goes into this project and unfortunately, at times, it takes us in a completely different direction, which can mean delivery taking longer than expected.

SHEPSHED LIONS CLUB NEWS www.shepshedlions.org

This year is a very important year for Shepshed Lions Club as we have recently celebrated our 30th Anniversary since the club was formed. This means 30 years of fulfilling the Lions Clubs International motto of “We Serve”.

A large number of members have gone through this task of serving the community in those 30 years, all unpaid and voluntary, and may it continue for many years to come.

It is also an important year for Lions Clubs International as we celebrate 100 years of service worldwide on 7th June 2017. It is 100 years since our fantastic organisation was formed in Chicago, Illinois, USA by a businessman named Melvin Jones. There are now over 1.4 million members of Lions Clubs International in over 46,000 clubs in over 200 countries. It is the largest Service Organisation in the world. In order to celebrate this, Lions Clubs all over the world have set a target of helping 1 million people wherever there is a need.

Leicestershire's Food Surplus Redistribution Project Strides Forward In 2017 Backed by Leicestershire County Council, Plan Zheroes is operating a food redistribution project across the county.

A free and easy to use on-line tool helps businesses of all types and sizes divert quality surplus food away from the waste stream.

Local charities receive alerts about the available food, and collect it for use in a range of social projects from breakfast clubs and day centres to crisis centres and homeless shelters. Signed agreements ensure the fair and safe transport, storage and use of the food, giving all parties full

The atmosphere was definitely enhanced by the three school choirs, St. Winefrides Voluntary Catholic Academy, St. Botolphs School and Newcroft Academy, who performed Christmas Carols to a very high standard. It was a brilliant addition to the already festive atmosphere. We would also like to thank the young Bell Ringers from St.Botolphs School who played handbells beautifully to build even more on the atmosphere! It was great to see these young people helping to bring Christmas cheer to the event. We would like to thank the brass quartet who entertained the public at the event. The event was also supported by local businesses. Andy and Tony from Meet n'Eat supplied the public with tea and coffee at special prices, Livio's Italian Restaurant sold Mulled Wine to visitors with proceeds going to Shepshed Lions Club, Marc and Mark from The Guest House, Hallcroft sold confidence in the scheme.

The food and drink industry's commitment to tackling food waste continues to grow.

Agreements such as the Courtauld Commitment 2025 and WRAP's Hospitality and Food Service Agreement encourage the industry to address the £5bn cost of waste in food manufacture and retail. In the borough of Melton, the council promotes the Plan Zheroes project as an ideal sustainability tool for food and hospitality businesses wishing to save money, reduce waste and fulfil their corporate social responsibility targets. Businesses and community groups from Loughborough, Coalville, Oadby and Wigston have also joined the network to share surplus food.

Commenting on the project, Jim Worley, Head of Regulatory Services at Melton Borough Council said:

The 5th Annual Santa Sleigh was a great success this year but there were some problems. On one evening there was a technical problem with the generator on the Sleigh that meant we had to finish the route early. We did intend to finish it on Friday 23rd December 2016 but due to the atrocious weather we were not able to complete the routes. We are truly sorry about this but it would have been too dangerous for the volunteers and the public given the torrential rain and high winds.

We also unable to complete some other parts of the routes due to timing problems. Santa does try to speak with every child and this can sometimes cause delays.

Shepshed Lions Club would like to say a heartfelt "Thank You" to everyone who supported our Christmas events. As we have said before, it is you, the generous, wonderful people of Shepshed who support our events that enable us to help those groups and individuals less fortunate than us in our community.

Bulbs For The Summer Whilst I write, there are flurries of snow passing my office window accompanied by the chirrup of birds hoping for the temperature to rise soon. We may be in the depths of a cold spell this week but I know that by the time you read this, March will be upon us and the sun will be shining more often and those birds will be busy finding spaces to nest.

Enter any nursery, garden centre or DIY store now and there will be rows of shiny packets with pictures promising bright and colourful blooms later in the summer. It’s worth thinking ahead now and picking up a few of these bulbs/tubers to give colour later in the year.

Dahlias I’ve already been tempted by Dahlias this year and have 5 tubers awaiting potting to join the half or dozen or so I have lifted and stored from previous years. I particularly like Pompom dahlias with their neat and compact blooms which i find fit well in to small-medium arrangements or vases. I’m often taken by the promise of the large cactus and decorative Dahlias which can bear blooms the size of dinner plates! I do struggle to fit these in to my vases though and think they are better used as a decorative border plant rather than for cut flowers for me. I’ll be trying ‘Burlesca’ this year which is a new variety with pink-coral pompom heads. ‘Wizard of Oz’ was my

Eucomis A weird and wonderful looking bulb whose flowers resemble Pineapples! These are very large bulbs and consequently can be quite pricy but they are worth it.

They need a well drained garden soil or can be grown in pots which helps to display them. Eucomis bicolour is a favourite of mine with green-cream blooms edged with burgundy. Newer cultivars include ‘Sparkling Burgundy’ which has purple foliage and purple-pink flowers on tall spikes. Both are worth seeking out.

Lilies Summer wouldn’t be summer without Lilies in the garden perfuming the air with their intoxicating fragrance. The orientalis species has a huge array of colours to choose from and have a distinctive scent. The pixie lilies are ideal for containers as they flower on short stems, although some lack fragrance.

For those who like their plants super sized, the Regale Lilies or the recently introduced Tree Lilies carry large flowers of tall stems and are really showy.

Gladioli Not one to just be grown by the flower arrangers amongst us.

I particularly like the magenta and purple coloured varieties like ‘Belle de Nuit’ and ‘Espresso’ Crocosmia These can often be found on offer as bulbs in the spring and offer the chance to grow them very cheaply rather than buy ready grown plants later in the year. I favour the shorter varieties for use in borders. C. ‘George Davidson’ is a sunshine gold-orange which teams well with lots of the late summer hot coloured perennials and ornamental grasses.

Cannas These unassuming tubers grow to the most spectacular exotic looking plants by mid-late summer.

Ideal for containers on the patio they give a summer holiday feel.

The foliage is broad and comes in shades of green, bronze and purple. Topping tall flower stems, vibrant blooms unfurl in bold fiery shade of red, orange, coral and yellow. Not fully hardy, these need protection from frost so it is best to start them off with some shelter.

I hope I’ve tempted you to pick up a few bulbs/tubers and have a go at growing them yourself. Next month I’ll be getting to grips with common garden weeds, looking at annual and perennials and the best ways to eradicate them.

Shepshed WI Shepshed WI met in February and welcomed Anne Hasley from The Baldwin Trust, a charitable organisation run by volunteers providing waterway outings on the Soar Navigation. Members enjoyed hearing about the history of the Trust which was originally formed to help patients of the Baldwin Ward at Leicester Frith Hospital and in 1983 they decided to purchase a narrowboat for day outings or longer holidays and which was being specially made by Camel Laird Shipyard at Birkenhead.

They raised the money to buy and equip the boat with a disabled shower and toilet so that patients could actually sleep on the boat accompanied by a carer. Anne told the members about all the difficulties they faced in the early years and how just as work was to begin on the boat Cammell Laird went out of business. However, the staff were being retrained and part of the training was to build the Baldwin Trust boat. Tradesmen and apprentices did the work and the Trust only had to pay for materials, and they eventually took delivery of their new boat in 1988. In 2010 The Baldwin Trust received the Queens Award for Voluntary Service.

The Trust now run two boats, one from Leicester Marina and one from Pillings Lock, Barrow on Soar. Both boats are fitted with ramps and electrically operated lifts for passengers in wheelchairs. They now only run day trips and interested parties can book a day out for up to 12 people and the boats are crewed with a qualified skipper and a highly trained crew. To bring the story up to date the Trust now need to replace one of the boats and are keen to encourage more groups and families with a deserving member to book a day out for a special occasion.

Leicestershire Life Education Race Night Leicestershire Life Education held a race night recently which was very kindly sponsored by TaxAssist Accountants (Loughborough) Ltd who have offices in Shepshed and Long Eaton. The evening was a great success and everyone enjoyed cheering on their horses. There was a bottle for the winning owner of each race and a raffle was held.

Leicestershire Life Education provides a great programme covering such topics as healthy eating, exercise and bullying to primary schools in Leicestershire and Rutland. The evening raised £410.00 and this will go towards our fundraising target of £20,000 for 20 years.

It was good to see many familiar faces and thank you to Shepshed High for hosting us and to the caterers for looking after us so well. The Association has historical and important links with the Police so it was good to see so many current and former police officers there.

I know Shepshed residents are concerned about speeding traffic and the safety of some local road junctions. I am pleased to say that following a resident reporting their worries about the speed of traffic on Hathern Road the police have agreed that there is a problem there. So, speed monitoring will be undertaken by the Road Safety Unit. Locations of cameras can be found at www.speedorsafety.com As an MP I hear from hundreds of constituents who struggle with the challenges faced in older age. Whether it is caring for our loved ones or worrying about health or finances, my office frequently comes into contact with people who are faced with difficult situations which often arise in later life.

Almost a quarter of us will be

65 or over in just 20 years’ time, which means we need to be open to discussing some of these challenges. Yet we know that difficult conversations are often avoided, particularly amongst families. National charity Independent Age, have released a report which finds that 7 million people aged 65 and over have never had a conversation with family about key topics relating to future care and housing needs. With an ageing population, we know that problem is likely to get worse, and this is reflected in our constituency surgeries and casework.

So Charnwood MP, Ed Argar and I are joining together to host a Later Life event in Loughborough on Friday 17th March 2017. If this event is well supported we hope to do more on this issue.

Finally, I’ve launched an updated mental health questionnaire.

Since my first survey in 2013 we have seen the launch locally of the Loughborough Wellbeing Project Café and the move of local mental health services to Loughborough Hospital. I am keen to see how well supported local people feel.

A Walking Success In Shepshed!

Three of us were encouraged and decided to train as Health Walk Leaders for the Walking for Health Scheme not knowing how this would work, or be received.

To our delight, on our first walk 43 walkers turned up! Supporting us were 15 members of Dishley Grange Walking for Health Group who have given us great support all along.

Being encouraged by this we planned more, hopefully, interesting, walks and pressed on. On our 3rd walk, 52 people joined us, to say we were delighted was an understatement! We have continued to be amazed at the support and thank all who are attending, hoping that you are enjoying the walks as much as we are.

We have so far been blessed with good weather each time, so let’s hope that continues!

We meet weekly on Monday morning at 10.30 am, gathering outside Shepshed Library. We set off from there and return in an hours’ time. Some members linger for coffee and a chat at one of the local Cafés.

A shorter walk is arranged for those who feel they cannot yet complete the longer distance.

We always look forward to seeing our regulars and welcome new walkers to join us.

Shepshed And District Camera Club As is usual for the members of Shepshed and District Camera Club the Tuesday evening meetings throughout January and February were mainly of an ‘in-house’ nature with only two visiting guests during the whole period. Among other things the members held their annual quiz evening as well as a practical evening entitled ‘Light Painting’, and Club Secretary, Brian Negus, gave an interesting talk entitled ‘How To Take Care Of Your Photos’.

The first round of the 2017 Competition League was held in early January, the judge being David Gibbins, ARPS, APAGB, EFIAP, who gave an extremely entertaining and instructive review of all the entries before selecting the award winners in both classes as follows: Prints: Landscape/Seascape 1st. Tony explained his early experiments with film based cameras before moving on to his current set up with modified digital cameras. The members were shown numerous of Tony’s excellent images along with some audio visual displays, and all in all it was a very entertaining night that had great response from the members.

Meetings now continue through until early June, with a break at Easter, and are held on Tuesday evenings at the Council Offices, Charnwood Road, commencing at 7.30pm.for 7.45pm.start.

CHRISTINE RADFORD As your County Councillor, I am always on hand to try and deal with any concerns you may have about services provided by Leicestershire County Council.

Such as street lighting, highways, footpaths, overhanging trees and hedges into the highways, social services etc.

BUSES At the meeting of the Full County Council on the 22nd February it was agreed that £1.3million goes towards subsidising Public Bus Services.

Clause 21 of the Bus Services Billcurrently going through parliament – stands to effectively ban local authorities from setting up new publicly owned bus companies.

As you know from our own local No 4 and 129 bus services in Shepshed, once a private company dictates our bus services, the County Council appears to have no power to object to them either changing or cancelling the service for their own benefit. Cllr Lennie and myself worked very hard to keep both these bus services fully operational.

Whilst financial constraints might realistically prevent the establishment of a new public bus company, the evidence suggest that councils should at least be legally allowed to consider following the successful footsteps of Nottingham and Reading.

May I suggest writing to our local MP Nicky Morgan them to vote against the Bus Services Bill when it goes to the House of Commons?

BROADBAND Information from the County on the Superfast Leicestershire project which is bringing fibre broadband to thousands of homes and

businesses across the county.

I have some news from frontline engineers regarding the progress of work to make fibre broadband available in Shepshed near Charles Hall Close.

I have been informed that there will be a road closure required in order to connect the main fibre network to the green roadside cabinet known as Shepshed 13 (on Charles Hall Close). The cabinet serves approximately 129 homes and businesses.

County are hopeful of completing work by September 2017 but at the time of going to print no fixed date has been given to when the proposed works will take place.

PARKING APPEAL Shepshed Fire Station has issued a plea to drivers to park more considerately around local schools to ensure that is engines can get through in an emergency. The areas highlighted are mainly around schools at drop off and pick up times. When you park, ensure you leave extra room near tight corners, do not park on double yellow lines, check that there is enough space for a fire engine to pass, and park as close to the kerb as possible.

CHRISTINE RADFORD Your Borough Councillors can be contacted on matters concerning Charnwood Borough. We deal with housing problems, (such as you trying to move house, unsatisfactory improvement work being carried out on your Council property) problems with neighbours, Anti-Social Behaviour whether or not you live in a Council property or a privately owned property and planning issues.

PLANNING The cost of providing the Plans Committees for 2016/17 is estimated at £38,974 based on the 13 programmed meetings in the year. If every one of the 1,294 planning applications submitted between 1st November 2015 and 31st October 2016 were considered by the Plans Committee it is estimated that this would require 10 meetings per month or about 130 meetings per year. It is estimated this would have cost Charnwood £389,700.

On Thursday February 9th, councillors met to discuss a reserved matters application for 270 dwellings at land off Hathern Road, Shepshed. The application had been referred to the plans committee by Cllr Bebbington who had expressed concerns regarding noise from the M1 and the potential risk for the site to flood, which has been supported by the County Council. Cllr Bebbington also felt the design did not take into account the potential widening of the M1.

The application was deferred after councillors were presented with an officers’ report containing incorrect figures for the affordable houses. It should be decided at the next planning committee meeting which is to be held on March 9th.

BREAKFAST CLUB FOR THE ARMED FORCES A breakfast Club for serving and former members of the Armed Forces has been launched in Charnwood. The Charnwood Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Club met for the first time on Saturday February 11th at the Toby Carvery. It is a chance for serving and former servicemen and women, including reservists and their families to enjoy breakfast for £5 and have a chat.

The club has been organised

by Victoria Coomber, who lives in Shepshed, and backed by Charnwood Borough Council’s

Armed Forces Community Covenant. The Armed Forces Covenants encourage understanding and awareness of the issues affecting service personnel, veterans and their families within the local community.

We wish to remind dog owners that it is the law to clean up after their dogs and you could be fined if you don’t. 1800 leaflets have been distributed across Charnwood highlighting this problem which is a major health risk. There has been 1 prosecution for dog fouling this quarter.

KEY PERFORMANCE DATA There were 30 stray dogs collected, 17 claimed by their owners 2 rehomed. 36 inspections of animal boarding/breeding establishments, 386 pest control treatments and advice given, 131 fly tipping incidents investigated and 1 prosecution for fly tipping.

121 Taxi licenses issued, 15 taxi vehicles stopped and checked.

118 reports of noise or other pollutions and 9 reports of continually ringing external alarms which were resolved the same day.

A rogue catering company was prosecuted and fined £4,000 for Salmonella in spcies and 1 prosecution for an unregistered Food Premises.
