Ray Vonn Returns
Shepshed Town Council is often approached by residents when issues and problems arise in and around Shepshed, for example pot holes in the roads, dog fouling in the streets, acts of vandalism etc. Generally, we are either able to deal with these directly, if the issues is under our jurisdiction, or to assist in resolving the issue by liaising with the appropriate local authority or utility, when we have no powers to deal with the issue ourselves.
Nine years since his last "world tour" of Shepshed the self proclaimed international megastar returns to his home town in January for 8 dates starting Thursday 12th at The Pied Bull and ending Saturday 21st at Shepshed Dynamo clubhouse.
However, it can be helpful if residents themselves report particular problems directly to the agency responsible as it can save time. If a number of residents report the same issue, then this can help prioritise any work required. So below we have provided useful telephone numbers to allow residents to report problems directly. For the unitiated Ray Vonn is the alter ego of Mark Haywood a musician/entertainer of 35 years. Ray spent the early part of his career as a drummer (he still plays drums) where he worked with many professional acts before going it alone about 10 years ago as a singer/guitarist and adopting the Ray Vonn name due to his uncanny resemblance to the DJ Ray Von in Peter Kays Phoenix Nights. So where has Ray been for the last 9 years? and what can audiences expect this time we asked? "I hadn't actually gone away and have been busy playing all around middle England - just not in Shepshed" says Ray."As with last time I have some special guests with me and I am happy to announce that this time I managed to have everyone from Shepshed - I wanted it to be more about
Shepshed than Ray Vonn and hopefully we can fill the venues every night. Song wise it will be a mixture and hopefully all the shows will be different - There is music from the 50s to the present day and I will be playing guitar, drums, percussion and ukulele on different nights and obviously a lot of laughs along the way" The special guest performers as we go to press are: George Stackhouse-fantastic young guitar/vocalist (also front man for Rawkus Reds) - appears with Ray at The Crown and The Horse Jim Robertson - "The singing postman" - Rays old bandmate appears at Bull and Bush Martin Paddock - The Jiggy / Paddy and Claire frontman well known to Shepshed audiences will be at The Top Railway Steve Herrod - comedy (yes it's Red Face Steve from the karaoke!) appears at The Railway Shepshed Mucky Duck Ukulele Gang play a sing a long set at The Pied Bull All shows are free entry and start at 8.30
