Peace of Mind

We are suddenly facing a dilemma. One which we humans were avoiding for a long time. This dilemma is more major than the virus and the economic crisis. It is about facing ourselves alone and discovering who we are, what we are, what are our likes and dislikes and finding the courage to deal with ourselves.

The journey of finding and understanding ourselves shouldn’t have begun with isolation. Instead, it should have been ingrained into our psyches, made to fit into our schedules, and engraved into our minds before the world stopped. Needless to say, we have always seen ourselves from the eyes of others, often complete strangers. Sadly, we have not seen ourselves for a long time. Instead we use others as our mirrors; those who judge us without knowing who we are and what we are capable of.

Allah is telling us with this disease that the dominion of this universe belongs to Him, as it always has. He did give us survivors a second chance to correct ourselves. To drop our selfish attitudes and to run towards goodness. This is another opportunity. Is it the final chance? No-one can predict it, but as Muslims we need to realize that each breath is a blessing and is also a chance to prove ourselves to our Lord; prove our sincerity and purpose.

As this 2020 is unique among years, so is this issue among others of the NorthWest Muslim Magazine. This issue is filled with pieces where our writers have poured their souls into the pages. They truly bleed with the pain of their fellow human. This issue is for those soul searchers who want to find themselves with corals and pearls after a deep dive into the darkest part of the ocean, to the surface.
